  • I wanna see this!!! @_@

  • @AfroNatives4life omg this is so beautiful. what is the name of the movie? i want to watch it

  • @venessa32

The name of the movie is called Unbowed

  • I want to buy this movie soooo bad. I also know u can pre-order it onJay's website.I also heard from a person that ordered it that she sent the money but never got the movie.

  • Another thing I love about this movie, is how Cleola is portrayed, she's an educated young woman, who is smart, but also is a a virgin. it's refreshing because so many movies with AA women, we are either portrayed in two extremes too bossy or too soft, she had balanced. And I loved how Jay's chaacter was gentle, and handled his own manhood. Special movie.

  • I want this movie but cannot find it anywhere.

  • Very nice! The music is an brilliant mix that represents the powerful mix of both groups that shaped the US in history.

  • Very nice!

  • My husband grandmother was full blood indian.Husband grandfather took her from reservation at a very young age.

  • @mattie1950 same with my great grandma she was full cherokee and married my great grandfather who was african descent those genes are so beautiful and obvious in our family!!

  • I'm garifuna a ethnic group from the caribbean formed by the mixin of NATIVE AMERICANS AND BLACKS of the caribbean islands i live in the usa and i married to european man but this made me one get reconnected with my NATIVE AMERICAN SIDE THEMMMMMM!!!

  • My grandfather is full native indian and my grandmother is black. beautiful couple. I never got the chance to meet them for they passed before I was born but they had 11 children. 9 are still alive now. This is on my mothers side. Simply beautiful

  • This is a one of a kind song.

  • Wow, how BEAUTIFUL.

  • I love this video i was in a relationship with a native american/Mexican man and im a black women and i must say they love black women its so touching

  • OMG what's the name of this music? It's wonderfull!

  • @S2amor100

The song is called: With You I`m Born Again.

The artists: Billy Preston and Syreeta Wilson,

  • @AfroNatives4life, thanks so much! This song is very beautifull and makes me relax ^^ Before I've thought the singer is Nat Kig Cole xD

  • @S2amor100

Your Welcome :-) i love this song very much as well

  • @AcucarFM3 Bw love the Waka Mani character because he loved Cleola just the way she was, he didn't care that she was darker than he was or that her hair was "nappy"

You're such a hater. Oh, and by the way, the movie is out, and has had a WORLDWIDE following for over a decade now (it came out in '99).

Suck it up bruah... U 'gon be aaight though.

  • My grandmother on my mom's side is full blooded native. My dad's biological mother whom died at 33 was full blooded cherokee. I alway's thought that the his "mom" whom was full blooded cherokee was g-ma. Turn's out she was his stepmom. Sad that I did not really get to know my grandparents.

  • @AcucarFM3 if anything if a lot of black women were to get this movie, i think it would be because there's not many movies depicting interracial relationships w/ black women. i can only think of one movie i've seen lol. it's kind of common to see black men in IR on tv, movies, whatever.

  • I adore Native Indians. My Facebook page is filled with so much info about them.I have even signed up on several of their sites .My grandparents, and parents had an lot of respect for them, and raised us to do the same.I have always had huge crush on their men also. They are just so amazing.Wish i had married one too!!!

  • I can't find this movie on Youtube

  • Beautiful! I really want to get this movie- this kind of relationship I have never seen on film. This is my reality, however; my partner of 3 1/2 years is 100% Northern Cheyenne and I am American Black, Celtic and indigenous ancestry. We have a beautiful daughter, too! This is important because no matter what your color or ancestry, love prevails. This kind of relationship is real history for many people, and it is still happening today!

  • I just feel like I just walked in on my parents together. Lol. This is basically a page from my heritage.

  • @Indiegirl007 Cool

  • I just watched this movie. The seduction scene was electrifying! That man oozes raw, organic sexuality. Holy cow!! Thank you Filmanthropic.

  • @mysticrottie how can i watched this movie?

  • @Zaprheniah1 only way i know is to buy it video .clips at blasian narrative

  • @mysticrottie Do u think he seduce her or did she come to him wanting to be with him.

  • ANYBODY WHO WANTS A COPY OF THE MOVE NEEDS TO GO TO FILMANTHROPIC ON FACEBOOK. IT'S $20 NOW, I THINK. I PROMISE YOU GUYS, Y'ALL WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. I'LL FOREVER LOVE JAY FOR THAT MOVIE.

  • I caught this movie several years ago after I had surgery. I was up all night and it came on the IFC station. OMG, It was so beautiful and sad. I have been looking for this movie everywhere but I never knew the name of it.....Thank you who ever you are for doing this...

  • Rapper Snoop Dogg was reportedly shocked after genealogy results showed that he is just 71 per cent sub-Saharan African. The results showed that Dogg (real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus) is (6 per cent European) and (23 per cent Native American.)

  • @midpopcorn Well look at his long ass nose, but hes black because he's still predominantly black as most AAs

  • @itsmecassiej ur rite hes black...when it's all said & done were all mixed..It is mixed african's all over the world ...And most of the so called full blood indian's are not 100% indian may be 85-90%

  • @midpopcorn Im about 85 percent black american but i dont really refer to myself self as mixed unless im like 65 perecnt black or less

  • @itsmecassiej i understand what ur saying and u are black!...but black american's are mixed compared to african's even to ethiopean africans....afro-latinas are mixed with white and indian just like AA's expect we speak english they speak spanish...what i meant by mixed africans was there black's who are of white, spainsh, asian and native american ancestory ...we might be black but are family's may have indian's root's,white ,or spanish

  • @midpopcorn I can't wait to have my genealogy test done. I've had so many people asking me what is my race. I thought they were joking cause I've never considered myself to be of any other race but black, even though I'm not very or very light skinned. I'm often asked if I am part hispanic, indian, native American or part eurpean. I agree that we are all of mixed races no matter what shade of color the skin.

  • This where I sent an email to inquire about purchasing the movie. Totems4JT@yahoo.com I haven't received a reply as yet. He has a very busy agenda....and rightfully so. Hotness personified!!

  • :D YAY this is beautiful <3

  • I love this movie, I saw it on showtime about 10 years ago and haven't be able to find it. It's good to know it can finally be bought.

  • Is there ANYWAY to rent this movie?

  • @BlackAmericanIndia

Well you can`t rent it. But here is what you can do. Type in on youtube: Jay Tavare as Waka Mani, and at the end of the video it shows you what you can do to get the dvd copy of this.

  • @AfroNatives4life Okay, thank you.

  • Lucky sister indeed, will be purchasing this movie, that warrior is fine!! :-)

  • Comment removed

  • Too cute! I wish I knew a little bit more about my background. Lord knows I have too much in Native American in me to not notice!

  • So my question is where can I find this movie and or will you post it?

  • @Ohsonatural2010

You can read some of the comments to see how you can access this movie.

  • funny this is the song from Penitentiary ( i doubt if we will find Native Americans there lol)

  • Does anyone have a link to the entire film, Unbowed?

  • I really need to find this movie, I sent the email and I will keep sending until I get a response, I feel like I have to make it my business to get educated on the issues in this movie because no one seems to talk about them.

As for Jay....words cannot describe what a being he is, gorgeous, articulate, educated, spiritual and kind. He is probably the most visually pleasing man to walk this earth, he's around 40 and he still looks amazing.

  • IT WAS A THE SAME WAY WITH BLACK MEN AND NATIVE WOMEN

  • @DAALMIGHTY1SON32

    Of course.

  • Can someone tell me where I can purchase a copy of the DVD? Couldn't find it on Blockbuster, Amazon, nor Ebay... Hoping I can get it through Interlibrary loan, if not, I'll buy the DVD (if it's $20 or less)... Thanks for the info in advance.

  • @HarrietTheSpyFan71 Send an email to: totems4jt@yahoo.com.

  • This is awesome!

  • i agree native men are so attractive

  • i have mostly native blood and i think black women are beautiful , they carry strength and pride through hardships which makes them even more beautiful

  • @eight18 Are ya single ;-)?

  • @eight18 That's the sweetest, kindest complement I've heard about black women in a LONG time...thank you:)

  • @eight18 That is very surprising that a least SOMONE thinks highly of african american females most people talk very badly about us i'm an afro- native and i used to be ashamed of being this way but i think you're comment has changed my whole perspective on my people =)

  • This is awesome. Tavare is sooo hot. I need one.

  • I just watched Unbowed again, well skipped around to the love scene and the scene at the chapel. I just LOVE that movie!!

  • @itsmissvsworld Would you know where I might be able o watch this movie online!?!?! I'd really like to watch it and had never heard of it before" looks really cool"...

  • @kohimoana I tried, and you won't find it. You have to send an email to totems4jt@yahoo.com. He'll email you with the price info. You won't be disppointed. You can check him out on facebook. He's busy with his new production company, so it may be a minute when you hear back from him.

  • Jay is hot!!!

  • this is a wonderful sequel. i am african american and my fiance is cherokee :)

  • I meant Native American.

  • I apologize

  • what a beautiful love story. Not very many indians where I live but would love to meet some.

  • @dulce4ti Native American...the term "Indian" came from that dumb ass explorer christopher columbus who thought he landed in India.

  • Hot Diggity Damn,Any native american men out there?

  • Thanks for posting this. My Dad is Choctaw and my mom is African-American....we just celebrated there 50th anniversary. It's cool to see that this is not some rare phenomenon. Im half and half, and I love my black women.

  • My father has a Pow wow each year in NYC. You will see many Native men with Black Native woman. And Black Men with Native woman. We are in America people. And our ancestors have died to bring each and every one of us together as one. We are Americans and that is why we are Blessed. One nation under God Indivisible or Not able to divide, With awesome liberties and Justice for everyone.

  • It all looks nice in the movies but in real life most people have no clue about true love, most people never find true love..and now that is real..AND I"M somebody who's is saying that with positive attitude.. I MEAN DO you know how hard it is to find a sincere and honest person this days? Okay it is like looking for a niddle in a hay stack..,now that's REAL BABY!

Everybody's idea about LOve is so different from mine I' m sure ...

  • When y'all find it - let me know. I can't see to find it anywhere.

  • Man, who knew! I'm blown away! I have got find this move. God Bless All!

  • Ok Ladies i did some research and I found some cute, attractive and even fine other native american actors. BUT understand Jay is in a class by himself. Jay is creme de la creme. Zahn Mclarnon,Adam Beach,Adam Joaquin Gonzalez,David Midthunder,Billy Merasty,Buffalo Child, and Michael Spears. Remember dont compare them to Jay but they have their own beauty. Enjoy

  • @AuburnWahine Michael and Eddie spears are two fine dudes. But I still love my Jay.

  • @AuburnWahine Going to have to agree, there are only two men that I can really say "How is a man that fine able to walk this planet and get away with it?" Those two men are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jay Tavare.

Jay is such a sight for sore eyes, if he looked me in the eye I would probably faint on the spot. He is perfect in looks, body and in mind, he sets an example of what real men should strive to be.

  • OOO!!! Where can I get the DVD? Thanks!

  • I just got on the waiting list....hopefully it wont be too long. I'm gettin antsy....lol

  • @kairi3177 Cool! You won't be disappointed. Keep me posted.

  • this is not rare or oblivious. Native american men were known to marry/have kids with black women during slave days.Which explains why so many black americans have some native american ancestry as well.My grandma has native american ancestry to prove this.It happened a lot back then.

  • and yet white people get mad when black people say there part n/a lmao im glad u showed this video my great grandpa is also have n/a

  • @taurusgirl5 cuz we r and they are not they wanna b tho bcuz its cool now but back when they took our land it wasnt same thing with blacks today I have not met a white guy in some time who does not get down to Nicki Minaj lol

  • Jay is fine fine did i say fine. baby boy

  • i loved this move every since i first saw it n the leadin guy is so handsome n strong.i wouldve ran off with him too!i head that theres a book about their life,if it is ..what is the name of the book?

  • Could someone send me a fine Native American brother like this one?

  • @trilby80 That guys is damn sexy lol, his name is Jay Tavare :)

  • its about DAMN time there a movie where a native falls in love w/a black lady

  • @Tekirai Amen to that. L-rd knows we product of such have been around for a long time.

  • @Tekirai - What most Blacks dont know the Egyptians, Moroccians, Tunisians, Algerians, Jordians, and Syrians LOVE LOVE LOVE Black Americans women but not just any kind of Black Woman. You must carry herself like a respectful woman because these men think of the Black woman as QUEENS and they LOVE that BROWN SKIN. They have Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate Degree, PHD's, and they believe in the best. Their education has to be the best and they keep going until they reach their goal.

  • @MsCuriousCat .....ok umm lets see im in college earning an associates degree but plan to go bachelors ummm hmmm i havent done anything that would bring me low uhh i think im ok

  • @MsCuriousCat They like black american women so they can get green cards you dolt!

  • Funny how this film is so difficult to find anywhere....I really wanna see it...Helppppppp!!!

  • @bjhupy

To get the dvd, go to his web site and order it. In fact I didn't get it from his site, but it was from his company or something In fact across the page you will see one video titled Jay Tavare as waka mani by soccerlady11 and after that video is shown, at the end it tells you how to get it. I had no problem at all.

  • @jacienz

Thank so much for the information. I appreciate this...:-) Cant wait to see this film....Id love to see more couples like this type in London, U.K.....Jay Tavare takes my breath away.......ooohhhh :-)

  • @bjhupy

You wouldn't be disappointed - I wish they really had a sequel to this movie.

  • This is one of the most beautiful love stories I ever seen. It is unfortunate that most of us came across this movie by acciedent. I wished there had been more adverising and the cast members should have been on OPRAH. I had never heard of Jay Tavare until I saw this movie. I have viewed his website and was truly impressed, What a fine actor in ever sense of the word. I have placed my order for this movie it can be purchase @ totems4jt@yahoo.com the movie is a little exspensive but worth it.

  • I want to see this film but am sad about Michelle's passing.

  • can someone please, whoever has the dvd to this movie upload the entire thing on youtube, or wherever, please, thank you

  • @ebonygoddess1000 Hi you can purchase a copy of this movie @ totems4jt@yahoo.com It sells for 30.00

  • @vandella223 Nowhere...you have to order it.

  • YES! Finally I have the movie! It is an excellent movie and Jay Tavare acts his butt off in it. LOVE his strong, proud character. He won best actor at the American Indian Film awards. He definitely deserved it for his incredible portrayal of Waka Mani.

  • @Softbird27 I got my movie the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I just love it!! Jay is so intense in this movie. You should check him out on Facebook. He has a list of his internet radio interviews posted there.

  • @itsmissvsworld Hey! I just got the DVD last week and honestly I cannot stop watching the film. LOVE IT! Jay Tavare is INCREDIBLE in his role as Waka Mani. I loved his character from the minute he appeared on screen because he was totally bad ass! Just feisty, strong, proud, intelligent and yes unbowed. He's an incredible actor.I totally enjoy the love story too. Really besides Waka Mani's fellow Lakota warriors, Cleola was his only true bright spot.

  • Comment removed

  • @Softbird27: "You don't have to think in here, Mahisapaa (while putting his hand over Cleola's heart). Mahisapaa...'my black sky'...

    And when they made love.....ooooweee!!!!

Girl, I could go on and on about this movie...

  • @itsmissvsworld That was a beautiful scene. I loved when he sat down behind her and immediately said they have to be together and that they would find a "white collar" to marry them in front of her God. That was just a lovely, touching scene.

Oh girl, I'm like you when it comes to the love scene. The scene was so tastefully performed and shot. Very sexy too! We get to see A LOT of Jay as he is completely nude. But, Waka Mani really took care of Cleola sexually in that scene. Real love making!

  • @Softbird27 It's 1:12AM right now, and I should go to bed, but I think I'ma watch Unbowed again, but this time fast-forwarding to the "good" parts...Waka Mani & Cleola. I don't believe I'll ever get tired of that movie.

  • @itsmissvsworld LOL I have now viewed the movie 9 times now. Once more then I promise to put it away for until next late Spring. The only other movie I ever watched this much without being bored was "Tombstone" I honestly think I watched Tombstone about 50 times before I said "Okay enough!

Have you checked out Jay's interview on Sheena Metal's radio show along with Nanci Rossov, the director of "Unbowed" You know a scene I adored? The "Wade In The Water" song!

  • @Softbird27 Yes, I caught it live, and I've listened to it a few times since. I just love his voice.

  • @Softbird27 What about the kiss next to the tree. Jay had a little tongue action going on.

  • @itsmissvsworld LOL Yes that was a good kiss. Jay is a VERY sexy man. I loved the way he flirted with Cleola. Waka Mani was something else! Even though he didn't go to his sleeping area for sex...he knew what time it was when he saw Cleola "waiting" there for him. I have never wanted to be another woman so badly before in my life. LOL

  • @Softbird27: I even love Jay's deep raspy voice...mmmmm

  • @itsmissvsworld I love raspy and deep voices. Jay Tavare is pretty incredible. I have been reintroduced to him these last few weeks. He impresses me. I really could talk non stop about this movie. Really I just wish the love scene was a bit longer. It was a wonderfully sensuous, delicious scene.I also love the fact that you could see the love in the scene. This wasn't two people just having a wild romp. No, they loved each other and it shows. It's a truly tender scene.

  • @Softbird27 Yes, I caught it live, and I've listened to it a few times since. I just love his voice. I did enjoy the Wade in the Water Scene too. You know, just about every time Cleola and Waka Mani were together, Richard was NEVER around, except for that part near the end at the party, when he noticed the two of them making googly eyes at each other. At that point, he first looked around to make sure that no one else noticed, then put his hands on her shoulders and stood behind her.

  • @itsmissvsworld You are right about that. Richard's eyes and ears was that cock blocker, Junius. Did you notice how Waka Mani disapproved of Richard touching his woman with his disgusted expressions? Lewis noticed a few things too. This movie is my total new fave. Just LOVING it now! Richard would bore Cleola. Waka Mani would give her an adventure, besides he loved her and would protect her. There needs to be a sequel. I want to know what happened? Did the lovebirds make it?

  • @Softbird27 You're right, Lewis did kinda notice a little sumthin'. True, Waka Mani was looking at Richard sideways, almost like he wanted to kill him. Richard was a dumbass...I mean really. Here comes a dude from practically nowhere and STEALS "his woman" out from underneath him. Cleola only got with him because that's what her mama wanted. Waka Mani not only would give Cleola an adventure. He honored who she was. He also liked her spirit...she didn't take no shit.

  • @itsmissvsworld Love is a very powerful emotion. Most of them noticed something between the two. Waka Mani's "head man" Jumping Elk knew immediately. You are so right. Richard was stupid. Junius noticed right off when Cleola and WAka Mani were in the room together. Of course he was a racist prick. So he doesn't count. LOL I loved the relationship between C and W. They really were good for each other.

  • @Softbird27 What about the way Waka Mani called her name when he found her on the roof. It was almost like he "came" right then. I was like, DAYUM! LOL

  • @itsmissvsworld ROTFLMAO Girl you are a mess!!!!!!!!Waka Mani started right away on her didn't he? Like that in him.

  • @Softbird27 Yeeeeaaahh!! He got on down, didn't he? He didn't waste NO time!! If it were up to him, they'da prolly "did it" right there in front of that tree (after that kiss, who could blame them), except Junius showed up. Cuz Cleola had to tell him "Don't..." when he was touching her hair.

  • @itsmissvsworld You're so right. That kiss got him going. Even though she was enjoying the kiss, she had to put the brakes on it. Junius was always somewhere lurking. The ultimate cock blocker. LMAO Cleola knew she wanted that man from the minute she saw him.

  • @Softbird27 I think they wanted each other from the first moment they saw one another. Remember, W stopped to look at C, and he had to be pulled along, I chuckled at that. Then later on when she went to visit her mom, he followed her. And when she climbed on the roof to mourn her mom's death, the way he comforted her was so sweet and tender.

  • @itsmissvsworld Yes I so remember those scenes. Some of my favorites. The way W comforted C when she climbed up to the roof, where he was...that was a sweet, tender scene between the two. If W was a different kind of man, he would have tried to take advantage of her. He was not that kind of man. Beautiful scene. It's easy to see why they fell in love. There was more love (and heat) between the two than with C and that snooze Richard. They had wonderful conversation, passionate, intense debates.

  • @Softbird27 After they'd made love, did u see the look on his face when he asked her to come with him? W was just GONE...C had put it on him, didn't she? He'd become totally vulnerable to her after that. And when he called her 'his black sky'...I was gone my dang self. LOL

  • @Softbird27 Junius: The Ultimate Cock Blocker. Somebody needs to put that on a box. LOL

  • @itsmissvsworld LMAO Yes Junius was that. He really got on my damn nerves in this movie.

  • @Softbird27 Girl, mine too. Cockblockin' azz...

  • @itsmissvsworld I felt it could have been that Junius wanted Cleola for himself. He had a girlfriend, but, seemed more interested in snooping around to see what Cleola was "teaching" Waka Mani. The brother had too much time on his hands.

  • @Softbird27 waaaay 2 much time on his hands...u could be right. maybe he wanted cleola to teach him too. LOL

  • @itsmissvsworld Junius was more interested in what Cleola was doing than his own woman. He probably did want her for himself and was jealous that Waka Mani just as you said came from nowhere and stole this woman. W was just very much a real man. He was all things rolled into one gorgeous, charismatic, sexy, charming, intelligent, strong, funny, sensitive and caring.

  • @Softbird27 Ok...I'll watch Waka Mani and Cleola for the remainder of this week. I just can't stop watching it. After that, I'll put it away for a few months. LOL

  • @itsmissvsworld LOL Me too. This movie is my new favorite. This is ridiculous. I'm still not bored. Each time I watch it, I find a new way to view it. A few more times then I'm tucking it away until next late Spring for real.

  • @Softbird27 I'm still finding things that I didn't notice, so I feel you. I'll finally tuck mine away for a while too. Hey look, I looked Tembi Locke up on Facebook, and let her know that I have a copy of the movie and love it. She responded the next day, telling me that she has special memories of shooting it. I didn't expect to hear back from her, especially so soon.

  • @itsmissvsworld I finally stopped watching the movie girl! LOL I have actually watched a couple of other movies "Mr Barrington" and "Big Eden" both starring one of my favorite actors, Eric Schweig. They're both really good movies. He's gorgeous too and such a fantastic actor. Thankfully I have finally laid "Unbowed" to rest until late Spring. I actually viewed that beautiful film 13 times!!!!

  • @Softbird27 yeah, I finally decided to put mine away last night.

  • Comment removed

  • @itsmissvsworld It's hard putting the movie away. It's never boring. Did Tembi go into detail about what was special about the movie? How did the cast get along? Especially her and Jay?

  • @Softbird27 No, she didn't go into detail about the movie. I didn't ask, because I kinda got the feeling that she wasn't interested in discussing it. Maybe she's really busy, she's on a show on SyFy. So, I'm sure between that and her family she probably doesn't have the time.

  • @itsmissvsworld Well, I am glad Tembi had special memories of shooting the film. Hopefully when this DVD is released, included will be behind the scenes, interviews with cast and crew and a tribute to Michelle Thomas or least an honorable mention.

  • @Softbird27: Hey lady. Have you found out anything about the new DVD?
