I have been able to get 28 plus mpg on this car. The engine is a M113 tht is built to be effecient. Yes hp might be low even with a 5.0l v8, but it does the job quite well and is unbeleivebly smooth. Yes this car is worth the price. Have u ever seen a four door coupe? Even in 2011 this car is straight sex. My buddies call it the pussy magnet. Buy one and find out y lol

I just purchased 06 Cls and it was my dream car...I drove it from Atlanta to Charlotte,NC and almost fell a sleep. It s very comfortable and very powerful. You dont even feel the tranny shifting gears and i averaged 28mpg on a 203 mile trip. I also own 03 Acura CL-S with manual 6 speed and V-6 and my average mpg is 17-20..less hps btw. 240. This car is awesome and it only has 21K on it so it still smeels brand new...

@JMCporsche I disagree - the 2012 looks more aggressive w/ plenty hp. Now the interior of the 06 models loos better to me as a whole, but the 2012 looks somewhat refined. To each is own. Either way, its an amazing car - I gotta get one. Or a BMW 645 or 650

my grandparents have this car. IT IS AMAZING :D extremely comfortable and extremely sturdy. i was rear ended by a drunk driver and drove away! with almost no injury to me.

We test drove an 06 CLS 500, low kms and good price and it was an amazing car but there was one problem and that was the front seats, not very comfortable in terms of leg support. It's a bit unfortunate because the car is basically flawless from every aspect.

@7477238 Keep in mind that the CLS is a four-door coupe. Having minimal space is expected when remembering that. If the CLS had more room, it would cannibalise the S-class.

@scaremenga Oh the space wasn't the issue as it's expected of a car with that kind of profile. It was just the seat cushion, it doesn't extend to support your thighs like it would in an S-Class, which kind of puzzles me since the CLS is very expensive and should have that option. I'm 5 foot 8 but I found my knees were too high in the air even with the seat set at it's highest.

Car had amazing build quality and one of the smoothest powertrains I've ever felt in a car.

@ Aappan the space between the backseats is a slide-able wood grain compartment; 2 actually. 1 is is the length of an armrest roughly. Its a compartment with some storage space and an input/output for a phone charger etc.... The smaller compartment in front of that has a cup holder only. Additionally there is an armrest that folds down (between the backseats) that has storage space inside as well along with a retractable sliding 2 capacity cup holder. Quite convenient I must say.

the engines different in 2006 it was cls500 in 2007 its cls 550 and in2006 it was cls55amg bt in 2007 it is cls63 amg and if you look carefully the front looks a tiny bit different and the back and what hectico said

this is good for a single person who has the friends to sit in the back. I'd look into a BMW 5 series to 7 series... that's where you will find your room. But if you want MBZ... go for the C, E, or S class

I know cars aren't an investment. My qualm is Mercedes used to retain their value. I buy new because the extra cost is worth knowing I am breaking the car in under my terms, it's undamaged, and fully covered by warranty. With a certified used car, you have no proof the vehicle hasn't been damaged or abused. People who buy a car and trade it in with 10K aren't babying the car. They run the hell out of it, don't maintain, and dump it on a dealer. Not worth a $10G savings as far as I'm concerned.

You are so right!! This is exactly why I lease. Frankly, the option is I can lease a new car and drive the living hell out of it. Drive it like a rental...thats what the payment center online calls it...a rental. Let's face it, if you don't want to own it then lease it for the tax write-off. I just don't understand how they can be such a great car and depreciate SO MUCH in the first year or two. It's the same with all the Mercedes. I guess they really aren't all they're cracked up to be ... unless you buy one used.

Basically at best cars are a very poor investment, and I use the term investment very loosely. The smartest thing to do is to buy a year to two year old car, that way someone else has absorbed the original depreciative hit. Some cars will however bounce back quicker and become "collectable". Usually though they are roadsters or limited edition models. Even then, they are only worth money if some one wants that particular car.

Cars aren't an investment in the least ... only the rare collectible, especially if it is not restored. It's common sense. I'm just saying that where most any Mercedes retained a greater percentage of their original value verses other vehicles on the road in the past, they don't anymore. A Toyota retains more value these days.

I agree with you, that's why I used the term loosely. I am in the business of autos and most hi end european cars still fair quite well. The issue I have is the "affordable" european cars do not hold their value, I agree with you that those days are now gone. If you were to get an SL55 or a CLS63 AMG they will still deprciate, but not at the same rate as others. For the euro cars, you have to get the hi end models. Japanese cars always fair quite well.

I really wanted o buy a Benz but when Consumer Reports consistently rated Benz in its top worst car due to electrical and mechanical problems for the past several years i decided to stay away from other car makers that also top the list of crappy designed cars such as; BMW,Mercedes,Chrysler,Audi and Nissan. With high gas prices we all need to be smarter...Lexus was and is at the very top of it's game and the hill when it comes to customer satisfaction!
