@SubNamoR Fire-eels are quite difficult to get to eat ive found (had two fire-eels before and a spiny eel).. generally when theyre young theyll eat bloodworm quite easily but when they older you can feed them market prawns (deshelled), bloodworm, live river shrimp and earthworms or nightcrawlers. This big one of mine only ever ate earthworms and fortunately i always had loads in my garden and in winter bought them from a fishing bait shop.
@twicksisted Thnx. Do u have to feed once everyday? I feed my fish every other day n theyre quite chunky, I have bichirs, datnoid n cichlids. I had halfbanded n peacock eel before, I handfed them. My halfbanded wasnt picky (eats frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms even freeze dried) but the peacock eel only ate live food.
I plan to get a Fire Eel, just want to plan the feeding ahead b4 I get one. Thnx again.
@SubNamoR I used to feed every other day till he was full... sometimes he would go for a couple of days before eating again (like if i went away for the weekend)... they generally are greedy fish and will eat when presented with opportunity (at least mine was)... good luck with yours, they are stunning fish and make fantastic pets!
@lifted2500 just a black plastic plumbing pipe i got from the hardware store... i did a mod to one before where i covered it in silicone and gravel, looked pretty good and blended in with the tank better but after about a year it was too full of algae ;)
@Changy6969 i would not put a jag with your polypterus i know with experience my 6 inch female jaguar would not leave my lapradie and delhezi alone always chasing and nipping at them and they are both 12 inches
@221jamo That tank was a 55G, the fish are now in a 150g tank, though i lost the eel and one of the oscars s they managed to jumpo out the tank a while back.
Fantastic tank. Fantastic fish. Perfect water. You're obviously a very skilled fish-keeper and easily rate among the best, and you get a thumbs-up all day long from me.
But...
The filming isn't so great. How about moving the camera just a little less and letting the fish swim in and out of view?
@jojjehellyeah fuck you kill your self wtf 200 gallon for 1 oscar well then your head has a damage you dumb fuck i hope you kill your self i hate you fuck you fuck your family asshole putang ina mo means bitchdumb ass fuck you ! ..I.. fuck youuuuuu dumb ass i hope your family Die !

feel bad for those oscars,. get a 300 gallion tank for fuck sake
@jojjehellyeah actually 50g is the right size for a single oscar... 100g is good for a pair .. ;)
and i trhink youll notice that the fish are very happy and clean when they were in that 55g... I have been keeping tropicals for over 20 years and have had many tanks (including growout tanks like this)... check out my newer vids and youll see i have them in a larger tank ;)
@jojjehellyeah I think you have your maths wrong. Oscars grow up to around 35cm... though 30cm is more common in captivity and thats after a couple of years... 1 metre = 100cm
Minimum tank for an Oscar for life = 55g
I have over 20 years of experience keeping fish and have had many tanks in my life, when i started there was no internet to learn off and everything i learned was through trial and error. Maybe do the same & learn more about the subject before telling others they are wrong ;)
I had an oscar all my life until two days ago, it died.

man that eel is a bit scary!very cool tank, like how the oscars dont fight the other fish, even the keyholes.btw how big are they.they seem small compared to the other fish but im sure they arent very small lol
ouch!! sorry to hear that.... I ghave heard that lots of them try to escape... Ive been lucky i guess as mines never tried to get out... the new tank is pretty much open top with overhead luminaire

fire eels are very calm (dont keep them with other fire eels as thwey will fight) other than that they wont eat other fish (unless they are tiny like neon tetras ;)
You can keep a fire eel in a 55G like i did for 2 years or so, but eventually id say the mimimum is a 150G for it to grow 3ft long and be happy

I tried to keep a GT with my current fish and it was far too aggressive... i guess each fish is different slightlym but Green terrors are called terrors for a reason ;)
I wouldnt reccomend it unless you had a very large tank.
I really want a fire eel but my 55 is too small. But i am going to get a peacock instead do you think i could have a peacock and a dino bichir? common name Polypterus Delhezi
yeah i reckon that would work fine.... fire / peacock eels are quite bendy and not that active, so as long as he can swim a bit and has a nice cave he'll be happy... also a Del (which is what I have) should be alright in a 55 ... i had mine in a 55 for about a year
dont do it i tried mixing lots of fish in my 120 gallon and i ended up returning fish ...those oscars are gonna beef up in no time and it will get crowded
thank you... i just uploaded a new vid... you can see more of the other cichlids in the tank (blue acara, firemouth, keyholes, convicts and geophagus)
hey man i have a video and i go to upload it and i write everything and get everything done but it doesnt upload it just stays in my videos what do i do to get it to upload?
hey man i have a common pleco about 7 inches long he used to be very active and eat algee wafers. now i have a little white house and he hasent come out from it in a good 2 weeks but i see him moving around inside it. do you think somethings wrong?
nah he's fine... they are nocturnal animals and dont like too much light... youll probably see him swimming around at night time after the lights are out. also when they grow up they tend to not be so shy... I think when they are small its instinctive to hide wherever they can
dude i thought the fire eel and oscars were awsome. what r the dimensions, and volume of ur tank id relly like to know, also how do you clean the sand.
I just use a tube to siphon water out of the tank... and hover it above the sand to suck up any debris... if any sand gets sucked up into the bucket, it usually stays in the bottom of the bucket after I change the water and I can scoop it back in again :)
a few of the older ones have names... burt the royal pleco... Mambo the fire-eel... but we mostly call him eely (lol) ray the synodontis... turbo and charge the pimelodius pictus cats... the oscars are very distinctive so we havent ever named them... ones a red oscar and the other a tiger so its pretty easy to tell apart... they are known as "the oscars" hehe... chav the common pleco... the new cichlids we havent named yet as they were so small i thought they would get eaten.we'll name them soon
I think a goldfish would be ok in there as long as it was a big one.... my oscars are very placid and tame and dont eat the keyholes even which could fit in their mouths sideways
He's roughly 2 years old... still got a bit to grow on him yet :)
He will eat loads of earthworms (nightcrawlers)... river shrimp and I guess if the fish are small enough to fit in his mouth he would go for those too.
you can fatten yours up on earthworms, they love those and get really thick eating them
They both come from south east asia, though the fire-eel grows longer and is more colourful. Tiretrack eels grow to about 70cm long in the wild... whereas fire-eels grow up to 100cm long in the wild.
hello m8 aint spoke to u in a while, hows you? i notice u used to have a clown knife, i wanted to know can u keep them with a BGK? also nice tank well dun!
Hey dude... all well this side... had some great weather today!!! boiling :)
I cant see a problem with keeping a CK and a BGK together... as long as they have their own hiding spots as they both like to hide.
Only problem with a CK is that it grows massive!!! and really quickly too... youll need a large tank to house an adult and its going to grow much bigger than the BGK and quicker too.
Thanx!Yes my fire eel was too small, and my oscars ate it!But your eel is fantastic! What do you feed them?My oscars get goldfish once a week, and other days eat hikari cichlid gold!
Its a real pity as they uisually make great friends for oscars. I feed my fish Hikari Massivore Pellets (very smelly), Tetra Doromin sticks, Frozen Bloodworm, earthworms from the garden & live river shrimp which they love best. I have had my oscars with other small fish since they were little so they dont seem to take much notice of feeder fish.
Thanks for the headsup.. if it came down to it, Id definately rehome the synodontis if that happened. He does fight with my plecos but thats a territory thing... the eel has his own tube (actually he has 2 to choose from) so I dont think they tangle much
sounds good probly will end up doing that that aint a bad price at all i will have to go to another shop though after paying £100 for a 305,yea goona get one soon,my tank is empty at the minute because i gave my oscars away just all of a sudden wouldnt stop fighting!! had them for bout 18months too o well gonna get some more!!!!
you should get 4 oscars... then grow them up and see which ones make a pair.
out of the four you will most likely get a male and female and if you get them all at the same time, they will probably pair off... then you can sell the ones that dont pair.
yea i know ive heard they are good but how much are they? i spent a hundred on my fluval 305!! need another filter tho my tanks 5x2x2 and hard to keep clean!!!
yea there is always a spot where poo collects!! haha good job man looks good keep it up set up looks great,im getting another fluval 305 to improve flitration,im getting new oscars soon one baby albino and one tiger and a green terror put vids on soon as set up.
tanks looking good mate fish look healthy that bloody fire ell is as long as my arm lol, oscars look amazing and i love your set up,you must have some good filtration coz that tanks clean!!! i run my oscar tank on a fluval 305 filter, what gallon tank is that? i have a 75,looking good 10/10
The tank is a 55G Eheim tank and its been up and running for 1.5 years now... I'm running a Fluval FX5 packed full of Bio & a Tetratec EX1200 packed full of Zeolite, Activated Carbon and mechanical filter pads...
together they work well at keeping it spotless, though I do have some areas still where fish poo gets stuck!
The royal pleco weve had for about a year now and he just hides all day... and dosent seem to be growing much atall... The common pleco though has an amazing charachter and is out and about all day and night :)
Just wondering, what do u feed and how often do u hvae tpo feed a Fire Eel? Nice Fire Eel u got

kcamerons 3 years ago
if not, then i highly reccomend a fluval FX5... I got 2 of them now in my 150G, but one of them was fantastic to keep in a 55g :)
twicksisted 3 years ago
hey, how big would you say I need for one fire eel? I have a 55 gallon but I dont know how long it will be until he outgrows it.
kcamerons 3 years ago
I had mine in a 55 for 2 years... now hes in a 150... they grow 3ft long so youll need at least a 5ft tank

cheers :)

if you were a gold fish in that tank for 5 minutes then you went back to normal would you be scared?.....all you got to do is out smart the fish lol
oscarfishguy15 3 years ago
I think a goldfish would be ok in there as long as it was a big one.... my oscars are very placid and tame and dont eat the keyholes even which could fit in their mouths sideways
twicksisted 3 years ago
What is your P.H. level?
Luke0zz 3 years ago

cool thanks mate... take a look at my new vids... got them in a much bigger tank now :)
twicksisted 3 years ago
kool tank
oscarfishguy15 3 years ago
how long did it take your eel to get that big mines only about 8 inches but hes realy slim oh and does he eat the other fish
chazp14 3 years ago
He's roughly 2 years old... still got a bit to grow on him yet :)
He will eat loads of earthworms (nightcrawlers)... river shrimp and I guess if the fish are small enough to fit in his mouth he would go for those too.
you can fatten yours up on earthworms, they love those and get really thick eating them
twicksisted 3 years ago
the eel is nice and big dont usually see one tht thick nice
rainbowsix38000 3 years ago
cheers mate :)
twicksisted 3 years ago
how many gallons
rainbowsix38000 3 years ago

wow! nice tank and a weird combo of fishes, I love it! that eel is my fav, never seen such bold eels. whats the tank size?
hamza8810 3 years ago
thanks bro... it works really well with these fish together... trick is to grow them all up together from small babies, then they work well.
The tank is a 55G at the moment but i am upgrading them soon.
In the mean time I am seriously over filtering the tank to keep the water parameters perfect..

I wish my fire ell was that big oh and nice pleco
oscarkinguk 3 years ago
thanks bro... dont you worry... they do grow... and big... you looking at 33" when adult ;)
twicksisted 3 years ago
i adore that tank,i love oscars as well as eels. one question is there any difference between tire track eels and fire?
Jcashrulez 3 years ago
They both come from south east asia, though the fire-eel grows longer and is more colourful. Tiretrack eels grow to about 70cm long in the wild... whereas fire-eels grow up to 100cm long in the wild.

hello m8 aint spoke to u in a while, hows you? i notice u used to have a clown knife, i wanted to know can u keep them with a BGK? also nice tank well dun!
ryanpretzel2311 3 years ago
Hey dude... all well this side... had some great weather today!!! boiling :)
I cant see a problem with keeping a CK and a BGK together... as long as they have their own hiding spots as they both like to hide.
Only problem with a CK is that it grows massive!!! and really quickly too... youll need a large tank to house an adult and its going to grow much bigger than the BGK and quicker too.
twicksisted 3 years ago
yh i no it was boiling but had a nice BBQ! lol! ok cheers i will be buying it about 4-5'' so i'll have some time to let it grow
ryanpretzel2311 3 years ago
Thanx!Yes my fire eel was too small, and my oscars ate it!But your eel is fantastic! What do you feed them?My oscars get goldfish once a week, and other days eat hikari cichlid gold!
vargadaniel87 3 years ago
Its a real pity as they uisually make great friends for oscars. I feed my fish Hikari Massivore Pellets (very smelly), Tetra Doromin sticks, Frozen Bloodworm, earthworms from the garden & live river shrimp which they love best. I have had my oscars with other small fish since they were little so they dont seem to take much notice of feeder fish.

Whatch those Synodontis when they get bigger dude. I had to get rid of mine because it started chomping the fins on my Fire Eel.
Dreamfish 3 years ago
Thanks for the headsup.. if it came down to it, Id definately rehome the synodontis if that happened. He does fight with my plecos but thats a territory thing... the eel has his own tube (actually he has 2 to choose from) so I dont think they tangle much
twicksisted 3 years ago
yea i was thinking about that i had a breeding male and female once but got rid of them, mite get four and get another pair was cool last time.
00Warlock19 3 years ago
sounds good probly will end up doing that that aint a bad price at all i will have to go to another shop though after paying £100 for a 305,yea goona get one soon,my tank is empty at the minute because i gave my oscars away just all of a sudden wouldnt stop fighting!! had them for bout 18months too o well gonna get some more!!!!
00Warlock19 3 years ago
you should get 4 oscars... then grow them up and see which ones make a pair.
out of the four you will most likely get a male and female and if you get them all at the same time, they will probably pair off... then you can sell the ones that dont pair.
twicksisted 3 years ago
yea i know ive heard they are good but how much are they? i spent a hundred on my fluval 305!! need another filter tho my tanks 5x2x2 and hard to keep clean!!!
00Warlock19 3 years ago
yea there is always a spot where poo collects!! haha good job man looks good keep it up set up looks great,im getting another fluval 305 to improve flitration,im getting new oscars soon one baby albino and one tiger and a green terror put vids on soon as set up.
00Warlock19 3 years ago
you should seriously consider a fluval FX5... fantastic filter! best ive ever had! :)
Just fill up the whole thing with ceramic bio!
twicksisted 3 years ago
I paid £149.99 in a shop for mine, but online you can pick up an FX5 for £125.00... just do a google search ;)
They seriously beefy filters and solidly built... and at that price nothing touches it.
you can use your 305 to do water polishing and put carbon and zeolite etc... and just pack the FX5 full of bio chips
twicksisted 3 years ago
tanks looking good mate fish look healthy that bloody fire ell is as long as my arm lol, oscars look amazing and i love your set up,you must have some good filtration coz that tanks clean!!! i run my oscar tank on a fluval 305 filter, what gallon tank is that? i have a 75,looking good 10/10
00Warlock19 3 years ago
thanks dude... :)
I love that Eel, hes such a charachter!
