queen = LEGEND , listen to the song no one but you , the most beautiful goodbye u can give to a m8 , they did it , great band , and freddie was and is and wil bver be the best singer on earth
Better than the album version, sounds a lot like they played it live (extra drums in the first verse, piano in the second verse onwards, electric solo with delayer etc). The album version seems a bit dry now by comparison :P
the album version sounds sadder & lonelier to me tho. perhaps it's because it's due to fewer instruments; i'd rather think it's more "restrained" & "clean" than "dry"
@gee1996 maybe vocals better on the studio recording, creative element and improvement upon on live version. Excluding "bad" live vocals/sound quality...don't most people usually prefer non studio? There's more Fred in this and less Bri, so maybe that's a preference marker.
please, let all of queen one day be back and young again, and make music like this. even but one day, one day would feel like eternity regardless with such purity.
This version is beautiful! What does this CD version? It is unforgivable that does not leave the CD mastered Deluxe Queen II 2011 (which if recovered live at Hammersmith Odeon Version 1974).
It's really hard to imagine another decade that might pass by with out Freddie :/ He's gone but his music will live on but on the other hand, it's painful to imagine how he IS gone and that I'm getting more and more attached to the wonderful music he's made :(
I saw their first two tours and I have never seen any other audience come close to worshipping the band as the Queen audience did. This was a year or two before they became famous in America. early queen rules. Later Queen kind of got syrupy.
Kind of like what happened to Genesis when Peter Gabriel left.
First heard this band in the early 70's....it was love at first listen..Pure Genius! I was lucky enough to see Queen live a few times..took my breath away . ..I will alway be a fan of this Brilliant music. ..Freddie Mercury you were a gem..you left an amazing legacy...Farrokh Bulsara I miss your presence in this world...RIP beautiful..sweet..man
It's beyond hard for me to watch "The Show Must Go On" and "These Are The Day of Our Lives" without crying, because of Freddie's illness and how fragile he kept getting. How the media kept going after him and not leaving him alone. It's songs like these that make an impact on my life (I don't know about the rest but it has for me). Freddie was diagnosed with AID's in '87 but released "Innuendo" in '89. Amazing man to still continue his music even in illness? Believe so. LONG LIVE FREDDIE MERCURY
Where did you find that picture of Freddie at 0:12? That looks like the one from the Killer Queen single, which I've been looking for a bigger, HQ version of it FOREVER.
Wooooow, Muse must've reallly liked Queen. I've listened to Queen for a while, but just recently got interested into their earlier stuff. And i've always listened to Muse and heard the similarities between the two, recognizing the clear influence muse got from Queen but until i heard this song i had no idea how much of an influence Muse got from Queen. This one Queen song kind of Somes up the basics of all the songs Muse has written. Btw not exactly a bad thing.
if freddie was still alive. we wouldn't be in resession, there would be no natural disasters, the miners would have never got trapped, the oil spill in would have never happened and music would still be alive.....
Queen was, is, and always will be the best band to ever exist. Period. I don't care about your Beatles AC/DC, your Metallica, your rap, your Coldplay, your Green Day. They're not bad, but compared to Queen, they are all mediocre. I will gladly argue with anyone who thinks otherwise, and I will easily win that argument.
@Cowzilla15 - What about Led Zeppelin? Or Pink Floyd? Deep Purple? C'mon, Queen are one of my favourite band, they are better on some points, worse on others. None of 'em is "the best". And anybody will easily win that argument.
@Cowzilla15...Great comment! I know it was a yr ago, but had to weigh in on your fabulous, insightful, & so true remark. I feel the same exact way......that Queen is so far superior to any & all other bands. This after seeing ev live, the B's, the Stones, & all the rest, & barely remembering them.Yet, seeing Freddie / Queen ON TV has changed my life! I never even knew what music could do before Experiencing Freddie & wh he was able to do w/ it! His passion made it come alive! The absolute BEST!!
@gamebeetle Dude, i can only imagine how active freddie would be in the world. I feel like if he had lived to now he would have reached his true peak in music because he would have so much inspiration to pull from in the events that are going on now and that happend within the last 10 -20 years.
I said the same to my mom (who is also a Queen fan) and she just said something like: "Most musicians are at their most creative stage when they're 30 anyway, so it wouldn't matter if he lived"
WTF????? D: How could she say something like that??
How could anyone say that about anyone? He was more than just his music. He was a human being and from what I've read better then some schum that lives. He's a human-being and deserved to live out his life until he died of old age.
All of Queen 2 - awesome.

Brian's solo at the end is pure emotional impetus.
One of my favs, indeed.

I think the solo from "Beyond the realms of Death" by Judas Priest has the same backing chords as Brian May's awesome solo here. Great stuff.

Friendpersonkid 10 months ago
@gamebeetle yeah... but it was Brian who wrote this
the White Queen seems to be Brian's muse. she's pure, innocent and beautiful
and the Black Queen is Freddie's... she's vulgar, vuse and vile. just his style, as the song
the white queen is an angel, and the black queen, a fallen angel (as the lyrics say)
they are the same angel.
damn. this antithesis.. between both the queens... is magical.
