Look, this is a freestyle!... The true meaning of a freestyle (if you ever went to fucking writing class) is it has no particular subject matter or title for the rhyme to revolve around, henceforth, the reason there is no hook or chorus you dumbfucks. All "freestyles" are written. "Spittin off the dome" is exactly that.. spitting whatever idea comes to mind at that time. So don't confuse the two just so you can have something to hate on dude for when you don't even know HOW to freestyle. 1

@playboythebeast I thought the same thing but the original meaning is it being pre-written but on no subject really, hence, freestyle (free of style) and then in the 90's people started rapping off their head and called it freestyle n some of the older heads didnt like that at first but eventually succumbed to it, but some rappers today are going back to the original way though I do like to freestyle where its off the dome :P

I made the mistake once of calling despot out on a "freestyle" that was obviously written. to my surprise, he wrote me back to let me know that true hip-hop heads know that a freestyle is simply a long verse without a chorus... it isn't the same as off-the-dome freestyling. I guess that is something you have to accept about our language.... so many words have multiple meanings

@zelemont Ive heard many different things. Some dudes think what despot thinks. To me, Freestyling should always mean off the dome, when you drop a long verse, you are simply dropping a verse. Granted, there are preconcieved thoughts in every freestyle, but a true freestyle doesnt have preconcieved order like something written, where its scripted beginning to end.. Its just whatever thought makes it to your brain at that time.
