My brother was more supportive comparing to my parents when I revealed my sexuality. The slavery in those days were for different reasons and societal values than it was for the african slavery America has known.

@ Jesus grew up a Jew. He practiced Jewish customs and his parents were Jewish. The Jewish believed and were guided by God's hand. The whole old Testament is like a preparation for what was to come. Jesus came, and He became the New Law. He said you must still revere the Old Law, but don't just look at the letter of the law, feel the meaning of it. Jesus, in my belief, is of the same God as in the Old Test. So why repeat what has already been said? It is quite evident God rebukes homosexuality.

God must have designed human beings with the potentiol foe evil and he must have designed Satan with the capacity to disobey and rebel...so God (if he exsists) clearly intended on creating evil.

@piemakesmelol In scientific terms, the physicality of cold does not really exist. What we refer to as "cold" is actually the absence of heat. What we refer to as "dark" is actually the absence of light. Satan and all that he is evil, is in reality, the absence of God, God is love and happiness. God gave us a free will, every one us, to choose either the light and everlasting happiness, or the dark and evil. You must work hard in this life to make it to paradise, though.

@partymartyrocks- This still makes no sense, a God which is supposed to be omnibenevolent CANNOT create or allow the creation of evil and suffering...it contridicts the entire concept of an all loving God. So either God is all loving or he's not. Which is it? And cold is not the absence of heat I would suggest you do your scientific research.

@piemakesmelol Actually, cold is the absence of heat. Since there is no other actual scientific definition of heat, it is often viewed as the lack of heat. Objects that have less heat are considered more cold whereas objects that have more heat are considered less cold.
He's right on that topic, but I agree with you on everything else.

Oh my God what a sad story!!!! To you Steve: Don't blame yourself for what happens. Your brother didn't die because of you, neither did homosexuality kill him. It was his choice! Suicide leaves people behind burnded with guilt. I'm sure he would want you no to feel guilty. To all the homophobics: Don't you see that the poor kid died because he felt like a misfit since homophobia is everywhere. Show understanding and caring. That devides us from animals!

Your brother made up his mind before he even told you.
If you would have been able you would have stopped him.
I know this because I found my brother collapsed in the floor from an OD.
I got him to the Hospital and they managed to save him.
But he has tried to kill himself 4 other times sense that day and it doesn't matter if I am nice to him or if I am mad at him.
Steve It Is not your fault. Your Brother made the choice not you.

My brother was more supportive comparing to my parents when I revealed my sexuality. It wasn't as easy as it's nowadays as I was raised in Russian society where being gay was very much, heavily, ultimately despised. It was associated with all the repugnant things you can imagine and my father still can't even think about it, though I made my way to be-friend the family
It wasn't your fault, we ALL live our lives, make OUR choices. We can't live it in any other way

How poignant. He will carry that guilt for the rest of his life and nothing anyone can say will assuage it. My heart goes out to him, to have learned a lesson about thoughtless cruelty in such a harsh manner. Steve is a better person today because of this; but what a price to pay for a lesson. According to the CDC in Atlanta, the number 3 most common cause of teenage death is suicide. Not every teenager who commits suicide is gay. But a percentage of the teenagers who commit suicide do it because they are gay. And as with all statistics, a percentage of the gay teen suicides are mourned by their families. A percentage of them are not.
