@ROOSTER13101 no need to cook it...just get some hotdog, cut off a little piece and throw it in there. if that doesnt work, get some crawler that they sell as fishing bait and try that.
@zaracki92 its an alligator snapping turtle just like yours and thanks i have it a hotdog and it ate it QUICK ohh and three days ago i was working and i saw it in a little pond that was almost dried up so i brought it home and hes the same size as yours but do you know if their illegal here in texas???
I found one of these guys washed up on the bank the other day the size of a quarter. We've been feeeding him lettuce which he takes pretty well. We found his mom in the middle of the street last summer about the size of an inner tube, and I couldnt pick him up further than my waste. We put her on a skateboard and wheeled her back down to the pond :D
i cant decide if i should get a baby snapper or a baby red bellied pond cooter. also could as baby snapper live with my red eared slider who eats and bites anything?
snapers can live to be a great threat to the red ear sliders.but baby snappers are really vulnerable, i wudnt put a baby snapping turtle with an adult or bigger sized RES
u can feed him basically anything. jus he might not like chicken or beef. jus find out wat he likes better. and remember to feed them a variety of meat, fish and even some vegetables
it looks exactly like mine but the shells are soft squeeze the side of it just barely and it will start to sink in.i just found mine today and hes awesome i gotta find crawdads for him 2 eat tho i already fed him 3 worms
not smooth...SOFT..it was plyable..if i squeezed hard enough i could of crushed it...do u get me now? do u want me to be an ass like ur being an ass cuz i was just givin some input? fuckin dick.. so since i said do research u forgot the part where i owned one starting at the size of urs for 3 years? thats too bad..posting something on youtube ur gonna get ppls opinions..suck it up and take it like a man..u should be thankful someone wants to share their info and experience with u..
mine is the same size hes the size of a quarter when i got him and now hes sheding and a little bigger hes in a 10 gallon tank for now and he loves hot dogs lol
and also.....why dont you post a few videos of your common snapping turtles. if u had them for 3 years, they must be pretty huge by now. share your experiences bro
....be fine but its just what they prefer..u do what u want but i know my little guy loved to sit at the bottom and be able to get air without swiming up..so do as u please
actually i had a baby bite me that was the size of urs..and it didt hurt at all..it was a little pinch sometimes he would even try to tear my skin and couldnt..his shell was still soft..go do some research and it is recommended to have shallow waters. thats why u normally catch commons in creeks and streams..i only had limited space so i couldnt be thorough so i apologize.. but when i researched thats what it said about water depth. it was easier and what they prefered.i understand they will....
ive only been bitten by a common snapper like this baby...yes ppl they r commons and no it doesnt hurt..its like a chip clip squeezing ur finger..since their mouth is so small they have to have their mouth open all the way to get ur finger in and dont seem to get a hard bite...for ur info tho they like shallow dirty water with shelter..these guys need about 3 inches of water MAX,,,,so they can be on the bottom and get air without swimmin up
i wudnt say that buddy. if it didnt hurt, you wer probably bit by a red ear slider :P common snapper babies bite real hard and it hurts really bad. can even tear of the flesh off ur fingers
You better watch out they get big my snapper was 1 1/2in one year now he/she is pushing 8 inches wide i have him on a preaty healthy diet.Like chicken, cooked shrimp, alot of reptomin pellets, goldfish always cook raw meats never give him fatty meats.
it is normal for common snapper babies because CST shells will be smooth wen they grow up. but the alligators stays the same. you can look up videos for both turtles and u will c the difference.
sorry for all the ? but i need info and lots of websites r not that specific. i have bubbles on the gravel/rocks from the water is that normal?do u put anything in ur water when changing it? or just let it stay for 24?
its ok i understand :P the bubbles are normal it'll go away soon. its jus air goin out of hollow spaces in the rock/gravel. and u dont hav to wrry abt water wen ur dealin wit turtles. chlorina water doesnt not affect turtles. water goes thru the gills of the fish, thts y chlorinated water harm them. but turtles are not like tht. u can jus fill the tank and put the turlte in right away. but if ur still not sure u can add few drops of tap water declorinizer. it'll dechlorinize in seconds. :)
orait thanks buddy. i know turtles r hardcore its not like they live in crystal clear water... i think when i went 2 buy stuff at the pet store they wanted to get more money out of me ;)
its looks dead !

ROOSTER13101 7 months ago
@ROOSTER13101 Well, i'd say try all meaty food you can think of and find out what they like. Nightcrawlers or hotdog might be the best choice.

odalV 3 years ago
it's the common snapping turtles. more dangerous than alligator snappers
zaracki92 3 years ago
the shell its sheddin on some spots is that normal or its sick? mine kinda looks like urs but has ridges on the shell i think its a ali snapper.. idk
odalV 3 years ago
it is normal for common snapper babies because CST shells will be smooth wen they grow up. but the alligators stays the same. you can look up videos for both turtles and u will c the difference.
