I think in English we spell smörgåsbord just like
the Swedish except for the marks on the vowels, of course.
You're right, it's probably the only word taken directly from
Swedish in modern times.
There are a lot of other words that are not the same but
you can guess what they mean. Hund (dog) is obviously
related to hound (a type of dog). And I wonder if we got dog from
varg (wolf) a long time ago? An older word for deer is hart (hjört).
The relationship between the languages is fascinating.
