The word used inMat24:34 is GENEA- the WHOLE multitude of men living at the same time. 40yrs is also correct, YHWH told ABRAHAM after 400yrs he would deliver Israel here a generation is100. 40+100=140/2=70yrs 70yrs is correct as a generation as well.
