  • DAT ASS!!!

  • fuckin cool

  • More like 2 seconds.

  • it sends u in like 4 seconds up to like if im not mistaken 170?

  • how long is the runway ?

  • @bonasi678 30-40 feet long

  • that was sexy

  • from spain> miss the tomcat

  • us navy > royal navy

  • @yourcomingoffstupid Just don't call them the "British navy" they hate that....bwa ahahaha

  • @Schnugg yea the stuck up little bastards. lol

  • @Schnugg we are the ROYAL navy because we are the best

  • @bandboy66 Do we need to count aircraft carriers??? The British navy is a good bunch of blokes, just got no sea legs for their air power at this time.

  • @bandboy66 hahaha than why cant you make your own navy planes they are byeing the usa's f35s and and usa are equiping lasers on the navy ships soon that means no one can hit them with a missile and it will also burn a hole in ships

  • @kirbyroxy actually the F35 is a joint strike fighter because a bunch of countries paid for it to be built. I dont know about laser beams and death stars but whatever helps you sleep at night =)

  • @bandboy66 no navy or marine beats the dutch marine. only we dont have air carriers. but beleve me. our dutch marines are BEARS! all fear got beaten out of them :P and its prooven by discovery. the best navy and marine is the netherlands marine. then the british and then the american. only because the usa has a lot of ships and carriers doesnt means that they are the best ;)

  • @yourcomingoffstupid Why the hate? Do you realize how powerful you two are combined? Ever wonder why no one wants to mess with you guys? ... Look at your equipment and come back :P

  • 0-10,000 in 1.8 seconds

  • is there anyone who can tell me the sort of acceleration that the pilot experiences in these launches? 0-100km/hr in 1.5 sec?

  • Depends.. 3-5 g's :D

  • It all depends on the aircraft, its weight, and the weight of its payload. The F-14 would launch, on average, at 150 Knots or 173 MPH/278 KPH.

The time varies on weight as well but assume 1.5-3 seconds.

  • It's always the same amount of time down the cat, the end speed can be preset by the cat crew. I used to look for 100 knots min day and 150 kts at night for fly away.

  • (100 km/hr)X(1 hr/3600 sec)X(1000 m/km)=

about 27.7 meters per second acceleration.

    hope that helped!

  • @taterfamine meters per second squared

  • @Schnugg

    good call haha. my mistake.

  • @taterfamine AHHHH! my brain!

  • @cerrutiboy Lateral G of about 3.5 down the cat. So it pushes you back into the ejection seat rather than pressing down your spine as in a regular hard G turn.

  • @cerrutiboy A lot

  • @cerrutiboy It takes about 2 seconds to travel about 200ft and reaches about 180mph... for an F-14. I'd assume that those numbers do vary slightly based on the aerodynamics (lift, mostly) of all aircraft.

  • @StigLitch Got nothing to do with aerodynamics. It's all weight based.

  • @Schnugg Exactly... weight is the opposite of lift in the whole aeronautics realm ;)

  • looks hind of cramped on the carrier

  • nice looking tomcat

  • why are there so many planes on that carrier.one of the launch platforms are even taken up by planes

  • There's always a number on stand by

  • Really? How they suppose to land when there are so many planes in the way?

  • Pilot are trained to do so, and the F-18's don't take up near as much room as the F-14 did, so there's more room to play with on a landing. Landing decks are cleared before a landing

  • America's aircraft carriers are substantially larger than all the other aircraft carriers in the world. American carriers of all classes add up to about 75 acres of deck space. The rest of the world's carriers have about 15 acres of deck space, one fifth that of America's. They have plenty of space to land. They are also trained to perfection.

  • 75 acres in probably more than JFK airport. Carrier flight decks are about 4.5 acres.

  • @J05HWJ We land in the open deck called the landing area...taxi off, folding our wings (back in a tomcat, up in a hornet) and park in front of the island.

  • I worked S-3 Division on the Saratoga, and what a 3 trip Med Cruise tour it was!

  • Carrier jobs are total shit, I repect anyone dumb enought to enlist and put 8 years on a ship as a vertual slave. Fighter jockeys are the Dukes and Officers are the insane kings.

All navy people should get a fully paid college education and houseing and food when they get out of there term of service.

trillon dollars to wallstreet whores and bandets and not a penny to the heros.

Hopefully the military will set things right one day.

  • To Pigcowgreen: Have you ever heard of Veterans Affairs? Our retired servicemen are treated very well with free healthcare and further incentives such as a reduced or free college tuition. Think before writing next time.

  • Still, veterans should be getting more care than they should be. It's better than after Vietnam, but that's something terrible to compare it too.

  • the navy takes better care of there people then any other branch of military

  • but the airforce pays for evrything ,college housing, food, as long as u work hard and keep ur end of the bargain they will take care of u , im not criticizing ui or the navy, the usaf recruiter told us that they give more than the other branches and unlike the marines or army they dont make u clean up stuff like janitors or mess with ur free time.

  • Are you serious? You are believing a recruiter? I've heard that before. All branches have a college program, food, and housing. The only thing the AF does different is focus more than the others is on quality of living.

Also, AF does do janitor work just like the other services. Your recruiter is lying if he/she says differently; it's part of the job. As for free time; if they need you they WILL get you.

  • Well, in any country, Navy and AF is more technical, so less reservists, and they give you less shit. Unlike ground forces where you tend to get treated like shit.

  • Lol, I big to differ. It's nearly the same across all services. I was treated like crap when I was an E-3 in the Navy!

  • yup ... am in complete agreement with you ... !!

  • Does anybody know when the USS George H.W. Bush is launched and put finally into service?

  • They just launched it out of the Northrop Grumman Newport News drydock 10 days ago after the christening on Oct 7. It's expected to be commissioned in January.

  • Nighthawk, thanks for the heads up. I am excited!

  • 0-200 in like 2 seconds.

  • Those launches are a kick in the pants!!! Loved the video... The F-14 Tomcat is my favorite combat jet in the military...I have other's, but this is my #1!!! David

  • The F-14 is also legendary. Its an inspiration

  • Wow, so much F-18Cs, where are the superhornets? Sad that the F-14 retires.

  • Awesome GO NAVY!

  • Try it at night asshole.

  • (shakes head)

  • carreir landing and takes offs are dangerous, the landing especialy because of the wire

  • haha no.

  • is it a dangerous job to be one of those

    people on the flight deck?

    is there jobs risky?

  • umm, yeah

  • yes, its one of the most risky jobs in the navy.

  • dood, its the military, every job caries its above-average degree of risk.

  • Are you in the navy?? If you are do you work on a carrier?

I do. Im not an airdale, but I can respect the fact that they can get their heads blown off if they move the wrong way. Some jobs are risky, some are not. Mine is more risky on some things, but for risk of personal harm, these guys take the cake. Why do you think they get flight deck pay??

That said, Im not some civilian punk who's guessing here, part of my job is providing steam for the catapult systems.

  • You tell them!

    Carl Vinson (CVN-70) V-2 Div 1984-90

And yes, Flight Deck Pay was worth it.

  • I can say that I worked both down below in the Engine rooms and on the Flight Deck...Dangers in both, but the Flight Deck has to be the most dangerous. I saw some of the things you all talk about. Guys getting blown over the side ...plane crashing...guys run over by planes...even a guy being decapitated. I did my time...USS Saratogo(CV60)

  • Always Cool!!

  • GO NAVY!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

  • TOMCAT ROCKS

  • F-14 Tomcat =D!! x3

  • MINE!!!!

  • Quite possibly the loudest place on earth to work.

  • and the best!!!

  • I made a tribute to LT Kevin Davis. Please look in my video section and comment if you feel inclined to do so. thank you.

  • nice!

  • Freakin' awesome. I can only imagine what it feels like to be accelerated that fast. :)

  • Just another day on vultures row

  • yeah baby!

  • Tomcats Rule

  • That's my baby!
