  • I always though that the "Dark God" was Tharizdun. He apparently tried to gain a foothold in Faerun and he is sometimes referred to as the "Dark God". Plus Lathander says he and other gods will ensure he never returns to this plane. Maybe I've spent too much time on this.....

  • was part 3 as good as parts 1 &2?

(just finished part 1 and halfway thru part 2)

  • @CescoPisicoli P3 is far behind p1 and p2 IMO, but I certainly am biased towards p1 and especially p2 for historical reasons. If you're new to the series, I suppose p3 could feel much like the early two parts, in theory.

  • Oh man imagine that Westwood had created the EOB3 too, then it would be as good as Lands of Lore, or LoL would be EOB3 with a few minor changes. Too shame that almost the same thing happened with the LoL trilogy.

That's one weak boss. Where did he forgot his god-powers, he's just doing mortal c(k)ombat...

  • This one was nowhere near the epic, epic standard of EOB2. That game is still the hardest, most puzzle-riddled game I've ever played.

  • Mmm I first began playing dungeon master before I was ten, played that game off and on over the years just for kicks.. This looks a lot like it. Shame, you would think this would be better than the very first one pretty much..

  • ...and after all the hard work, they get a membership....

  • Dark God.. Eh, could've been a Banelich I suppose. They did seem to think that they were Bane incarnate for a while, after the latter had kicked the bucket for a while.

Would explain the ease with which he could be defeated. Also explains why Lathander might get worried, considering Bane was one of his enemies. If Bane were to return, which he later did, then it means more work for Lathander.

  • The thing that really makes this boss a joke is the fact that, despite supposedly being a god, he is vulnerable to Time Stop. If you saved up your scrolls, you can use them to freeze time, waltz past all his cronies, and slash him without any retribution. Not to mention that with Protection From Fire and the sword that instantly destroys undead, his death knights pose absolutely no threat to you whatsoever.

  • if you left-click on your characters names, you can do the "ALL ATTCK" feature which will kill enemies faster.

  • Heh, seems I've become quite a lame EOB3 player.:) When I recently returned to that old savegame to make this vid I kept wondering what was it I was missing on the screen...

  • EoB2 was better. This one I never beat, I got to some elemental place and... yeah. I remember a bunch of corridors and teleporters. My party starved. That was unpleasent. The cake was a lie.

  • no it's not, just keep going. You'll find cake.

    .....keep going.... -silent evil laugh-

  • Oh, and about this game failing where the other 2 succeeded: I think the problem with Pc RPGs has always been the consoles. I'll get flamed for this, but it's true. PC RPG developers always feel they need to add in whatever console RPGs have been doing at the time of a generational change, and it hurts the game.

At that time, it was digitized voice, video intermissions, and needless visual fluff.

Now they just dumb the combat down (Oblivion, Mass Effect)

  • I've never played a single console game, but I agree with the "needless visual fluff". Or, in this case, perhaps rather "visual nerf". I liked the video intermissions though (not in EOB3, however).

    BTW, ...Rahul Sood?

  • Owner of a very upscale canadian PC business. builds "custom, high end" PCs for 5-10K. Fools people. Sent me a $5,500 paperweight. Thought I'd get a killer liquid cooled PC, custom case. (This was in the summer of 2004) He robbed me, stole my credit card.

Took him to court. My lawyer scared his 1 man legal dept.

Kept the PC I "bought" form him. a year later it literally exploded, taking with it the harddrive, where my DOSbox obsession was born. Lost ALL my classic saved games I kept.

  • :-O Man... I had a better impression while reading about him on the web. Wikipedia says he's listed 83rd on the "Who matters now?" chart issued by some business magazine. In a twisted way this explains how exactly has he become so popular/influential in business...

  • He's the biggest joke on the internet. There are FAR more websites built by people he screwed over then people who he "did right" by. He swore I didn't pay for my PC (I paid for it TWICE because he was too stupid to do his book keeping) then stole my CC number and maxed me out just to spite me.

Also, the PC came to me with an out of date BIOs that couldn't detect SATA drives, and he claimed *I* did it, not his techs.

  • I ended up having to put a SCSI drive in there myself, because at the time, that particular board had yet to get a BIOs that worked well with SATA (I HATE VIA)

It's funny, because he ridiculed me on his boards, thinking I was some stereotypical "internet tough guy". Sad for him that I was for real, as was the woman lawyer friend I had who got him blacklisted on VISA for a year.

  • > (I HATE VIA)

    I second that emotion.:)

  • The only EOB game I never beat. Blame Rahul Sood.

Anyhoo, at least I know saw the ending. Even if it was a bit lacking.

Dran Dragore was such a terrifying last boss, or so I always thought.
