One thing that annoys me about things like this, particually in America is the media propaganda that follows. In this situation I totally understand the officer shooting so don't disagree in that at all but what does annoy me is the way American media almost always makes out the guys a scumbag and the officer a model professional. I saw a similar one to this where the cop had tasered the guy, yet still shot and killed him while the guy was on the floor and the media convince people it's ok.
media certainly has a huge influence on public perception. However the video in which you are referring to there are factors that you may not me aware of. an officer must elminate the threat. Tasering someone doesn't mean the threat has been eliminated. Not all taser deployments are successful, if the threat still remains the officer must act accordingly. It isnt necesarrily the media's fault either. Ignorance of police procedure is also to blame.

People talking bad about police should think of it this way, on Youtube there is probably about 150-200 videos of bad police. Now consider that police spend at least half of their time working being filmed by passer bys and other citizens. This means that at least 50% of bad police officers are filmed. In the USA there is well over 50,000 officers. If there are 300-500 bad officers that means that only 1% of police officers are bad. That's a pretty good ratio anyway you look at it.

One thing that annoys me about things like this, particually in America is the media propaganda that follows. In this situation I totally understand the officer shooting so don't disagree in that at all but what does annoy me is the way American media almost always makes out the guys a scumbag and the officer a model professional. I saw a similar one to this where the cop had tasered the guy, yet still shot and killed him while the guy was on the floor and the media convince people it's ok.

media certainly has a huge influence on public perception. However the video in which you are referring to there are factors that you may not me aware of. an officer must elminate the threat. Tasering someone doesn't mean the threat has been eliminated. Not all taser deployments are successful, if the threat still remains the officer must act accordingly. It isnt necesarrily the media's fault either. Ignorance of police procedure is also to blame.

The problem mainly is not the use of guns but the ease in which American police use them. The man who was tasered in another video was face down on the floor posing no danger at that time and before trying to resolve the situation calmly they shot to kill. It could be prevented so many times yet police know the media will, especially in America justify it for them.

People talking bad about police should think of it this way, on Youtube there is probably about 150-200 videos of bad police. Now consider that police spend at least half of their time working being filmed by passer bys and other citizens. This means that at least 50% of bad police officers are filmed. In the USA there is well over 50,000 officers. If there are 300-500 bad officers that means that only 1% of police officers are bad. That's a pretty good ratio anyway you look at it.
