This video was taken of a guinea hatching in an incubator. I can assure you the metal was warm as the incubator stays at about 99.5 degrees. If the floor were too soft or smooth, the baby wouldn't be able to get traction and would be crippled. It's not as nice as hatching out under a momma hen on straw, though. :-)
