I believe it's Steve Smith and Pete Lockett, both double tracked. Wonderful album--I actually transcribed that track!

if 5 means khanda in carnatic then i dont think you got it right. you hand gestures sure are not. khanda follows the ryhtmic pattern of 12 123 12 123

Khanda refers to the jathi. the thala they (Glen Velez and Lori Cotler) are putting is called khanda jathi eka thalam.
What you
(KV959) are referring to is Khanda Chapu thalam. to be precise khanda chapu is only 2 and a half.
