@anothersickman Well for one thing, cows are farmed and aren't in any danger of going extinct. And many people including those in Sea Shepherd (while on voyage) don't eat any animals.

For another, whales (cetaceans) include dolphins which are the smartest animals that we know of next to ourselves. Many believe that harm is proportional to sentience, thus killing whales is much worse than cows.

Finally, Japan has signed a binding anti-whaling treaty. They've agreed NOT to do this yet still do.

Also, I don't think that you need nearly 1,000 fin and minke whales each year in order to do statistically valid research. Studies with human subjects manage to get by on lower numbers when circumstances require.

ahaha, they've being investigated because Japan(a wealthy nation) has requested it, honestly if a nation asks for a simple favor like that I'd be astonished if the US didn't respond in some manner. well that and everyone involved with the maritime industry knows that they are bring in a lot more money then they are spending. funny same story with the investigations against the whalers... its all politcaly motivated. oh and the ICR was never convicted, only charged. oh and the sanctuary, and the aus claim of owning the southern ocean is illigal. and again the ICR is following the IWC RULES
