I have enough money for a kicker solo x 18 the problem is space, i have a 1998 camaro and in the hatch when i rip everything out (keeping the backseats) have about 6 cubes. Kicker says 5 to 10 cubes ported so will it stil sound good with only 6 cubes? The other set up i was thinking about is 2 kicker l7 15'' .. i can get the solo x for 850 and the l7's for 300 a sub

i got mine dynamat online and it took a shit load of work to make the 18' fit i had to take out the spare tire and adjust the box in the whole where the tire was and kinda jam it in there! lol sorry man i sold this system
if you had a 15 or even 2 12's in a proper size box instead of shoving a 18 in there you'd be louder. cause most likely your not even breaking a 140 and the rattle of your trunk over powers the bass.

i bet this car was a pain to build a box in. i had one of these cars and i will tell you that dynamat does NOTHING to stop the rattling, facing the speaker into the cab helps. sounds like your spare tire is rattling around, i put dynamat under my spare in the tire well, but its somewhat impressive u fit a 18 in ther. what box setup is it in? what do you have powering it? I hope to god u upgraded electrical components. Mine was fine with that HUGE battery they put in these but i went thro 3 alts
the box was 5.3 cubes at 35 hz so it was a very small box but thats as big as i could go. i had the big 3 set up and 3 marine batterys in the trunk. i was powering the solo x 18 off a memphis 4k 4000rms @ 1 ohm.
a little underpowered and in a small box i would like to see how it would hit in a suv in a 10 cube box haha. but the noise you are hearing is actually not the spare. because i had to take it out just to fit the sub. but it was the muffler shaking loose. lol.
yea, damn fords... now that you say that i do remember that muffler shaking on mine..., you should check out my 18 solo x in a 14.5 cube box i got in my Grand Prix.. its tuned to ~35 hz, and im estimating im only hittin it with about 1000RMS off of a Orion HCCA 5000D, cant give the solo hell tho... electrical system is too weak right now.. hope to upgrade it and get another Orion to really see what a solo can do!!
4000w RMS in that small of a box is actually pretty decent power... kicker only reccomends 5000 max in the compact box, and the 10,000max rating is in a 10 or 12 cu spl box

you should also check out my friend's 12 solo x. hes runnin a Memphis 4k like u and his is in like a 3.5 cu box and he can just barely float some hair with 1 12! his sn on u-tube is kickersolox...

you couldnt see the sub you can only see the amp. because the subwoofer is facing up. the amp is mounted on the front of the box.

4000w RMS in that small of a box is actually pretty decent power... kicker only reccomends 5000 max in the compact box, and the 10,000max rating is in a 10 or 12 cu spl box

yeh it was pretty cool though i had to get rid of it it was tooo big for my car lol. now i just have a kicker solo x 10' and i like that alot! it sounds reallly well and in the box i have its 4 cubes and it gets low! only on 750.1 soon its going to be powered by my memhips audio at 2 ohm 2000rms. with in the month. i should have videos of it

you should also check out my friend's 12 solo x. hes runnin a Memphis 4k like u and his is in like a 3.5 cu box and he can just barely float some hair with 1 12! his sn on u-tube is kickersolox...
