  • I sincerely hope this company goes down the shitter, probably never happen but I still have hope.. Not only do they overcharge customers and poorly pay workers but worst of all like any other greedy corp they will often oversource jobs and pay them pennies just to profit more

  • Times are tough all over. If you think you're worth more. Get a different job or start a business. You try paying a union. Verizon customers will pay more or go to a different service if the union wins. The fat cats will declare the company bankrupt and still be rich. Appreciate having a job. Grow up!

  • To understand the problem with healthcare as a benefit, see it like this. You own your house and decide to rent it. You rent it for $600 and it covers Mortage and Property taxes. But each year, property taxes go up (as healthcare costs have) and you have two options... raise the rent on your tenant to help cover the increase or accept the $600 and pay the difference out of your own pocket? What would you do if you were this homeowner? Most of you will dodge the question...expected.

  • I wonder how many people here have Verizon phones.

  • Verizon wants to make worker pay thousands more into medical annually long with no pay increase, freeze their pensions, take away all job security and reduce sick days, vacation days, holidays and the list goes on. Despite record profits this company wants to destroy everything the union has fought for over the last few decades.

This company made $22 Billion in profits in the last 4 years and dodged over a billion in taxes. OWS and CWA are fed up and their not gonna take this anymore.

  • Yup, how dare any company ask workers to pay a portion of their health insurance? And, how dare they expect that raises become performance based? And, how dare they try to cut expenses in an area that continues to loose business? You go on wearing red & aligning with left the left wingers camping out on Wall Street. Soon you'll be able to join them full time.

  • @nal001 Here an education you ignorant bastard:

    1) The workers already pay a portion of their health insurance. This company want them to pay thousands more anually.

    2) Performanced based raises would be ok if the company didn't shift people around so much. You become good at your job then bam, you're transfered and have to relearn and work your way back up. Not to mention who's gonna judge? Many workers have been around and know a hell of a lot more than management does.

  • @nal001

    3) In an area that continues to lose business? Verizon is ONE ENTITY. Verizon has been tryng to devide and conquer for a long time but the courts denied them because it is one company - each division supporting each other. Wireline supports wireless! Who do you think maintains the cell sites? Wireline.

    4) Educate yourself before you open your dumb mouth again!

  • I can't wait till the company locks you guys out and breaks the GREEDY UNION.

  • @nal001 Well I cant wait until our workers are working for fighting for jobs at $4 an hour, having to work three jobs to make ends meet, and not being able to do shit about it.

Exactly how is fighting for a fair contract harmful? Oh wait, I have the answer: because it costs companies money which they could be spending giving raises to the head of Verizon.

Seriously, how dare these people try to fight for their wellbeing! How dare they!

  • @nal001 Yeah the co. isnt greedy at all, after all they're only 2nd largest and most profitable company in telecommunications, because they over charge there customers, underpay they're workers, skip out on paying taxes (Which by the way you pay, so why shouldn't a corporation?) DONT pay for a good health care insurance (Which you would complain about Obamacare, and yell at these protesters to get a job and insurance, and when they do you STILL blame them. What a mook you are.) Read a book. 99%
