@375slash Is mostly wood, aluminium, polyester rope and some iron for the arrows and release mechanism. The construction it self is quite simpel. just make a square boks and drill holes for the rope, and remember to support the weight from tightening the rope with beams.
I have got some plans for a larger balista, that throws rocks. It may be that ill make a sort of project progress blog on a web page. Time knows :p Ill try to get my hand on some oak, but thats almost as hard to come by as gold.......
what are the sizes and materials that you used to build it. i would like to make one but don't know the right size of the materials

I used some polyester rope, easy to get by and it is a bit flexible.

The range is about 100 meters, but it all depends how hard the springs are tightend. I guess at max it can reach 130m.
