I think it was the fair enough choice though. Laetner was a more accomplished basketball player at that point. Personally I don't even get the lame logic of having a college player on that team. That last spot really should have gone to Reggie Lewis.

I think for the last spot they were more in the market for a forward than a guard. Isiah Thomas had worthy numbers though he was a bit past his prime. Jordan and Magic were blackballing him anyway though. Wilkins absolutely deserved a spot but was not on the team due to injuries.

the NBA has a good amount of talent now, but not like the 90's. The 2008 team was good, but there will never be a team as good as that 1992 team. I just cant see any other team EVER to match 1992 olympic dream team

If you put Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Dwight Howard on the same team, regardless of their positions, you'd still have a team that could spank any other team in the world. Basketball is one thing Americans definitely have locked down on a global scale, to think otherwise is just ignorant.

@millakilla They actually have enough trouble winning these days, to call them dominant would be foolish. Howard got totally eaten alive by the Gasol brothers on the boards. Sure, individual talent the USA will always be ahead, but currently they have trouble in fundamentals and teamwork. Things that the real Dream Team exceled in. Not like they have won the international competetition lately, and even when they won it was fairly close.
