honour killings?

there have been more honour killings in India then Iran. Heck, even North America has had more cases then Iran. This is EXTREMELY uncommon in Iran. Violence against women is still a problem but honour killings are extremely rare. Educate yourself before talking.

And the message is beautiful -- that the big brother chose love for his family over self-gain. He decided that winning a pair of shoes for his sister was more important than winning the race.

I recently saw this movie.truly speaking the film rocks.actually the film doesn't have a great story but the magical direction of Majid Majidi and the brilliant acting of Ali and Zahra makes it a marvelous movie.soon after watching the film i checked out whether the movie got any oscars for the best foreign language category,i was wondered that the film missed out the oscars.

this is a powerful movie, two thumbs up!!! it really shows you the very essence of brotherhood and friendship between the two of them...also shows you how their culture is and the poor conditions how kids live in third world countries...I speak for myself cause I was once really poor like them , by the way I did cry too....anyways the story has a beautiful message I recommend this film for the entire family enjoy it!!!!

thid movie like "THE SONG OF SPARROW" is very touching.. reminds me of how my parents fed us and do whatever they can til we finished college. Now im in US and I guess you can imagine how I treat them.. i give them all they deserve in life! I'm blessed to start from the very buttom, makes me appreciate what really life is about!

@ NisaLavigne93 Roberto Benigni's "Life Is Beautiful" won the Oscar that year in the same category, Best Foreign Language Film... So I think there was no racism. "Children of Heaven" was in wrong time to contend. I love both...

@RogertheDon Life is beautiful is indeed a film worthy of winning the Oscar. But honestly, if there is a movie about holocaust, it is going to win the Oscar hands down and there would be no need of other nomination. There is racism.

the film is a masterpiece. but this trailer is complete balls! it doesn't reflect how great the film actually is. well if the kind of people stupid enough to go for this kind of trailer are giving money to the original film makers, then that is justice (it's funny because those are the same people who would most likely complain that the film has subtitles).
