I grew up knowing this song in French, before I heard the magnificient Terry interpret it in English.
I wonder why the video is about abuse and depression. Coming from Terry himself, it wouldn't have suprised me...but from someone else?
True, he was molested as a child (see Well Fancy That by FB3, which is his own story), and suffered from depression all his life (he's actually bipolar).
Anyway, beautiful interpretation, as always, and beautiful video.
Jerry Sadowitz who appeared in Terry Hall's Terry Blair&Anouchka's video of Ultra Modern Nursery Rhymes, complained that this video infringed his copyright,
I removed Jerry and replace his appearance with graphic animation. It's taken 5 months!
Although angry with Jerry, I am also grateful because, I would have never learned Adobe After Effects and animation.
Jerry's replaced by a number of colourful characters! Marc Bolan even makes an appearance! Bet he won't complain??!
Let the artist breath. Terry Hall - fabulous performance ... as ever, I really love this version. As I look back through my musical history you're one of those special ones,
There isn't a message! its the sound of depression and madness, its the sound of humanity realising that no matter how much we might deny it, we are nothing more than animals, we are our own greatest fear...
@AlansTips The idea is that you keep turning over the thoughts about things that have happened, especially when they have turned out badly - in this case, the lost love.
This is the song I've been looking for.. I had good memories with this rendition of The Colourfield back in high school circa 1986 - thanks a lot to "snakeeyesss11" for sharing the lyrics.. chillax!
@mobyboy Sorry @mobyboy Neol Harrisonj was not (the original performer) if you did your research you would find out Michel Legrand was the original performer/singer composer !! He wrote this in 1968 for the film 'The Thomas Crown Affair' with Steve Maqueen in the tile role !! Not the version from a few years ago with Pierce Bronson, cool actor tho he is lol :).
@mobyboy Me again i double checked, Noel Harrison did the original performance for the film 'The Thomas Crown Affair'. Though it was Michel Legrand that wrote and performed it first xx
absolutely brilliant......terrry halls a god, didnt get enough acclaim he deserverd long live terry hall..........a song for the depressed like he was in the 80s
The most spectacular song I have ever heard, It talks directly to my mind..... The lyrics are full of deep wisdom.. and philosophy.. Sharif Hamawi Jordan writer
This is a brilliant song that I have immediately fallen in love with. I think I may learn the lyrics by heart and try singing it on my own. Thank you for uploading.
If Terry Hall had been a singer in the 60s I have no doubt he would have been picked to sing the theme to the Thomas Crown Affair. This is achingly beautiful.
this song brings back good old memories. luv it! i appreciate the effort that you put in making a new video interpretation of it. thanks again and cheers! : )

Don't like a socia-political message in the middle of a song.
