Since you're listening that fanaticly: at 2:50 one more tiny little mistake and at the end of 5:20 almost 5:21 another little slip of the finger at the accentuated tone ;-)
@The55555SSSSS There is a mistake at 0:14, f instead of f# in one chord, but honestly, it would be wrong to look for these mistakes in his performences... who cares? Cziffra is a legend, his playing was outstanding. Right now, I cannot think of any better version of this piece. Many other pianists play this faster, but less precise. Thumbs up and knees down for this great man!
@stevey226 probably because he like it that way. Have you ever seenthe thing that Gould called a "stool"? It looked like it was pulled out of a whales anus and burned after that but it was just the way he wanted to sit.
He is not afraid of breaking the rules to make it alive. With that kind of sensitivity he can't reach everybodys heart in cold times like we have today.
Cziffra is a genius. We all can see the centre of the target after his hits. A talent strikes the targets wich we all have known before. Thats the difference. Thanks to everybody who made Cziffra possible and that he was born in times of recording.
The work dates from 1795-8, predating the symphonies. It nicely shows off B's cellular compositional style.

@PuresMusic
Czifftra doesn't make any mistakes at 0:14.
It is only because of the poor quality of the transfer .
The55555SSSSS 1 year ago 3
@The55555SSSSS it is a mistake.

Why doesn't he ever use a proper stool? Every time I've seen him he's on a chair (seen on the internet, not in person)

Once read this is an early piece by Beethoven. Perhaps suggesting it's an easy piece to play. lol.
Tdgonline 2 years ago
Not necessarily.

this is op 129, one of Beethoven's last few pieces.
Aktanith 2 years ago
One of his last published pieces. He wrote it probably around 20 years before his death.
