Hell, the AMC in our town is now all digital. The movies are on big hard drives. The Cinemark still uses the film style the chap in this vid works with. I don't think I ever saw a film where there was a new reel every 20 minutes switched. I was born in 1976.
hi mark i worked with you at printworks on the cinemechs, see your on kinoton now, i worked on them at norwich, they are much better, hope your keeping well mate, m .fenerty.
I was a projectionist from 1958 - 1974. I started at the Gaumont Clapham and finished my last 5 years in the business at ABP/EMI Elstree studios. In my early days there wasn't shift work and ten people in the projection team to cover days off. We had carbon arcs to keep trim, changeovers every 20 minutes, tabs and masking to maintain which gave us the incentive to be showmen. Today, 1 projectionist, one feature film, 1 projector. Simple...chick.
I've been a projectionist for about 10 years. It is just a job to me now, but seeing these videos kind of makes me miss the days where I saw it as a lifestyle.
with a bit of luck i'll soon be a projectionist again, good to see some decent equipment. Last time i did this i was using Westar projectors with a Pearless xennon converted lamphouse
Hey what automation is that i've worked with the Phillips FP20 projectors would love to one work the kinoton projectors was that a D series or E series projector?
Hey shane4345 If you were any good and i am certain you are the death of cinema, you might learn something about being humble. You might also learn some manners and how to shut up.

I was a booth manager for amc, easy job not hard at all this guy makes it seem alot harder than it really is. I ran a 18plex by myself not to complicated. I was the shit i must say this guy sux.
This just looks like such a fun job, I hope eventually I can get a projectionist job here, But the theaters here haven't been hiring any positions lately. Anyone interested check out my film related stuff in my favorites & in my uploads, Soon I'm going to try to upload some of my 35mm collection
LOL I used to work for UCI many years around 1989 to 1990 now its called Empire under the flagship name the Empire Leicester square I doubt the system has changed too much same projectors at most sites same sound system in some different name same people if there still working there oh well time for an intermission.
Nice video. Im a part time projectionist at Odeon Tamworth. Your Booth room looks alot nicer than ours. Nice to show people that its not just pressing play and then rewind. Nicely edited aswell.
I wanna work in a cinema now, it looks great! But what is with the crazy guy under the table with headphones and trying to harrass mark at the end? Is he like the evil monkey in the closet from family guy but a cinema version that every projetionist room has one? good stuff my friend....we can edit that part out...we can edit that part out...
I'm a Projectionist for AMC Theaters in Dallas Texas. How much do they pay the Projectioists there at Cineworld? I hope it's more than AMC's $7 an hour.
Nice except for the music.

Someone in the UK should get Tim Hunkin to make a video on the secret workings of each piece of projection equipment.

Intresting to see a UCI projectionist at work.
I assume when the ad and trailer reel was built up, the Cinema policy and the idents were added as appropriate.

Sometimes though, the projection department isnt such a nice place to be:

Depends which side of cineworld you work for, as it was once 2 companys. Some of the sites were once UGC.
