I love Omar Sharif. He's a chameleon in the best sense of the word. He can fit into any character Hollywood could throw at him and come out of it, the Star of the Show. I especially love him in The Night of the Generals. Although I hardly think that that movie is enough to mention how special he is, let alone define his whole career.

I´ve heared many times that he comes from lebanon but he grew up i egypt and made his career there..first I didn´t believe that but finally Safaa Abou L´Sood talked about that thing in her show with Ahmad Ramzy and he confirmed that Omar Sharif (his best friend) comes from Lebanon... He wasn't a Jew, he was a Catholic. And he was Egyptian, from both sides of his family. As far as I can tell, his great great grandparents were from Eskandaria and a small village outside Cahirah.

that is not true...he is not from a Lebanese origin and he himself said that in an intreview that i dont exactly remember. Omar real last name is Shalhoob. He said that once he was in Lebanon and started joking with a Lebanese journalist saying Shalhoob is a very known family in Lebanon, so I am Lebanese.
