  • If I didnt hate hearing your voice I would watch this tutorial. You are good at blender no doubt, but you take way to long explaining stuff. You like that sound of your voice or something which aint bad but really annoying.

    Just sayin.

  • WHY NOT 240????

  • @Kriweiv ???

  • @Kriweiv Why not... 400?

  • I'm having a problem in animation. i already have the character and the bone but when i parent it the body does not move with the bone..plzz help. i'm using blender 2.58a which i downloaded in blender.org.

  • how dos this progama cals

  • hey thanks for your Jonesy character. And i havent watched your tutorials in a long time, i quite blender for a while but thanks for this help

  • How do you add all those lines in background?

  • How did you make the person figure? Could you please give me some details to save it in my blender so I can work around with it?

  • How do you make transitions between movements, like Running and walking?

    (Sorry for the english)

  • @ward7299 I'm making a game, if I were to increase the character's speed, for example, he starts slow and gradually increases speed, how would I do that?

  • @PastelEarth the only thing i can think of is if you insert keyframes and try to shorten it up then insert another keyframe. I dont know never tried it but that would be my first guess.

  • I need some help animating a snake. The animation I need help with is the slither animation. So do you know any easy way of doing this, if so please let me know asap. And thanks in advance.

  • There's no "Paste opposite" button in action editor in blender 2.5 ... and I can't find any way to emulate this feature. What happend, is it really removed from blender? in that case, is there any alternative to doing the other side again, by hand (oouch)?

  • how to make the feet stick on the ground EXACTLY? i have blender 2.5

  • how do you make the legs stick on the ground??? i am using 2.5

  • how add the ring on thy body on heands legs en foot ????????

  • I'm a long time YouTube user and really benefit from people posting these kinds of tutorials. Wonderful, thanks so much. I'm new to blender and although I have a lot of hands-on left to do, this has demystified much for me.

  • Do you have a link to the tutorial you mention when you rigged this? Im using a blend file that contains an armature, but it dosent function nearly as well as yours and I would love to tweak it so operates like yours.

  • how do you get that yellow, green and red circle that you use to adjust and rotate

  • thats crazy wicked cool...

  • im making a game, and i have it so when you hold down w you walk, and when you hold down both w and shift you run and a property goes down and stops at 0. 2 problems though, the resting process makes it so its only 1 for 1/3 a second so he goes from run to walk, and when its at 1 he still goes the run speed, do you know how to fix that?

  • You are so amazing! Thanks from Colombia!

  • I like your video, it's very helpful!

But I have one problem, When I try to delete an action, it's still there in the drop down list. :(

  • when i click copy the opposite pose, it copies them exactly the same

  • In pose mode, you can hit 'W' (Specials Menu) and "Clear User Transformations" to revert to the default pose.

  • why i can sauvgarde video in blender

  • hi, im creatin a game and ive got a little problem, the alien not go through buildings and objects?

  • @ward7299 Great vid Dave, but how do you do the foot-ground impact (31:48)? You mentioned this rig is made from the Mancandy tuts, but if you could just suggest the basic idea that would be a real help!

  • All good... I figured out how to get the desired effects using your Johnny Blender Tutorial 18 (foot/leg rig) and 21 (bone shapes) along with the Floor Constraint which I discovered today. Anyway thanks again, your tutorials are really easy to watch, and funny as well... which is why I don't mind watching one 10 times till I follow what you're saying.

  • Can you just show the animations please????? I don't use blender but I like your animations

  • @Whistt do you think a martian really has a down pose? hes weightless. why would you flame a tutorial that clearly says more than once "its a cartoon character.."

  • would u liek to animate for a video game i am making?

  • why would you ask someone else to do your work? lol

  • @fudgehogmovies not my work :S i need an animator for the game im asking to join the staff i have a lot of stuff for me to do

  • how do you put this into a game for the movements and stuff.

  • Click on your bones and go to the logic tab, then add a sensor controller actuator then make the actuator an action instead of motion then where it says AC: put in the name of your animation then change play to loop stop.

  • You skipped your downpose in your walk cycle.

your character appears to not have a hard contact with the ground because of it...he should ALWAYS move downwards when he takes a step like that.

While you probably don't need a really big down pose, it is needed...badly.

If anybody here is learning walk cycles, I suggest NOT following this...

it's typically better to start with contact, then go to passing, then put in your up and down poses.

  • Judging by your page comments... go away.

  • I'm sorry the nine old men and every other major animators have shown how to make a basic starting walk cycle and it needs to include a down pose to emphasize weight.

I don't understand why you're in denial at how bad this walk cycle is...this is a flipping tutorial, it's not hard to follow the basic walk cycle poses... contact, down, passing, up, repeat.

  • i rlly like it

  • thats true. i didn't notice that. how do u LocRot without pressing i?

  • Thanks for this tutorial! =) One question though: How come you don't have you press i > locrotscale after every time you adjust a bone, like me? o.o

  • i think he has auto frame or what you call it, there is an option for it, like auto keyframing or something.

  • Thanks for your answer, I found the option! =)

  • press the little RECORD button and lotrotscale all the bones in the actions on the first frame. and then take it from there without locrotscaling any of them

  • is it hard to make the anitmation every time set 1 thing alse.....

  • Thank you Great Tutorial.

  • how do you make the arrows by the knees

  • What are those wierd lines around the head, hands and feet that, when selected, act like the bones that move the whole head\hands\feet?

  • they're called "bone shapes"

  • howcan you add this to a game?

  • add these animations in the game engine is what im working on.

  • damn ty rly much

  • how do you get the run cycle into a game ? like see your character animations when you make your character walk etc ?

  • You have to make controls for playing an animation while moving the object . play ani+mov obj

  • how do you get to that window mode??

  • amazing tutorial, thank you

    5* to you

  • Nice tutorial.

    Thx !

  • Comment removed

  • thanks. i didn't know you could do key

    frames like that

  • Thank you very much

  • Are you useing blender 2.49a?

  • yep

  • isn't there 10 minutevideo limit?

  • for general users, yes. however, i'm a youtube "partner", so i have the ability to upload videos longer than 10 minutes.

  • @ward7299

hOW DO YOU BECOME A PARTNER?

  • @DepressedDonkey

Upload a video that is of your own creation. and when it reaches past 1,000 views. You are eligible to become a "Partner" in which you can make money from every view (and all of your videos must be of your own creation, otherwise you'll be dropped from "Partner" status)

  • @ward7299 your a youtube partner? nice. How did you become on? did you just start with basic 5 or 10 minute tutorials and go from there?

  • @ThisIsCleverUsername yeah when you get a certain amount of subscribers youtube will let you make longer vids

  • do a rig tutorial !!! :D

  • the best video i ever seen keep it up.

for know you are the best animator in my book hahhaha

    i am not playing

  • I'd **REALLY** appreciate a rigging tutorial! I have Mancandy but it was done on an old version of Blender. The short cuts are different and the rig doesn't seem to be working right for me.

    Rigging so so frustrating!

    :-)

  • he has one on his chanel

  • I just realised if you want your character to actually move forward the paste opposite will not work

  • right, this is a cycle, so he's walking in place. to move him forward, you'd use a path constraint.

  • Oh right, thanks

  • im sorry.. but whats a path constraint and what does it do?

  • a path constraint is just that: a path that the character is constrained to. it's so the walkcycle can actually walk along the ground, rather than in place. if you watch my "Blender Alien run and climb over fence", you can see a black line beneath where he's running. that's a path constraint.

  • Looks like an awesome rig! Any chance you might do a rigging tutorial for Blender 2.49?

  • maybe... ;)

  • best walk cycle, i've seen so far, and noot just on youtube! detailed, well explained, not too complicated, and u show us everythign we need to know! great job

  • if u don't have 1 already could u do a prequel to this video on how to rig our model? rig videos are hard to find, and when i find them they're either too vauge, too old, or just bad at rigging

  • yep, its really great! thank you!

  • That was such a great tutorial. Thanks you SOO much! :)

  • wow.. a lot for a simple walk,...

R u doing any animation in youtube.... cause i'm got a feeling that u can pwn aniboom
