Вот если б кто-то чудом нашел пластинки с довоенными танго (до 1914 года)! Но после войн и революции,... борьбы с НЭПом, "белогвардейщиной" и проч. "идеологическими врагами"... вряд ли что-то получится :(
Beautiful, amazing song! Actually, P. Leshchenko was not a Russian but a Ukrainian and his light Ukrainian accent is clearly heard in his Russian songs.
I agree because he was born near Odessa and that region is known for its multinational population. When Piotr was 3 his father died and his mother had to move to Kishinev (Bessarabia, nowadays Moldova).
Info (in Russian) about P.Leshchenko and other popular singers of that time may be found here: sosudin dot narod dot ru.
It's a pity that I could find on YT only one song of another idol of Russian emigration of mid-war period, Aleksander Vertinskiy, who was born in Kiev. BTW,he wrote in his memoirs about his Polish ancestors. If someone could find and upload some of his beautiful songs that would be great!
You'll be surprised: my Grandma and Mom happened to know personally Vertinsky - still in pre-Rev.Russia and met him later during his stay in Poland, 1932.
Follow my Russian path here, it has a reason and origin - very personal.
That is amazing! They were lucky people! He is a Great singer and one of my Favourites! I have his double LP disc issued back in the day (in the USSR) that contains some of his best songs. Thank you for having A.Vertinskiy in your plans-that's good news. :) BTW, one of his songs is called "Ja bezumno bojus' zolotistogo plena" or "Pani Irena" about a Polish lady.
A beautiful tango, one of my favourites - but so are most in your collection. Thank you so much. Dzięnkuję, pan Jurek! How do you manage to reproduce such good quality sound from a 78 rpm record?
privet drug..... ı am writing this letter from turkey and since several years ı was searching russian tango music from my russian friend.. ıt is great things to hear russian tango... ıf you want we can share some musics.. also ı have turkish tango music and if you want ı can send by mail. by the way watch my video clip about tango festival in istanbul...
I wish I could have a CD of your collection. This music is hypnotizing. What an era that was. It can never be recaptured. I am so grateful that you have gathered these magical melodies and are kind enough to share them with us. Thank you.....
I have not forgotten about 'Upić się warto'; it will BE here, only now I feel rather to be closer to West European fantasies on a Tango. Which means that I will return to Russian ones, too.
Just for a record.Starting from 1920s up to late 1978s all Strok tangos were banned in Mother Russia for recording at state owned record studios.the order Herr Gasputin wants to bring back...Tango lovers of the world, unite!
I do. And is already scheduled for presentation. There is only 'embarras de choix' on my side beacuse there are 3 vocal interpretations in Russian of this number in my files; think Leschenko's win that time, too.
I have it recorded also in Polish by Adam Aston, artist known here already, and it is equally haunting; might present as soon as 'technically' it has been possible.
спасибо приятное прослушивание

Uwielbiam to tango i P. Leschenko tylko boję się tej paralitycznej nóżki ilekroć na nią spojrzę.

I just mean, dear, that Russia is not Arabia. And this shot looks like a piece of Kamasutra. Lol

Kamasutra is rather...India, Dear !
But it may always suit sentimental tangos,
believe me (never too much true love; Lol !).

Dziekuje za przepiekne piosenki, panie Jurku!

Bardzo mi miło. Moją ulubioną jest właśnie ukrainska: 'Karije otchi'.
From artistic point of view let us not be afraid of adding to Leschenko's Ukrainian blood one drop of Moldavian and...Russian.

Dziękuję pięknie.
Some of them I take from re-editions. For instance my(!) CD "Polskie Tango 1929-1939" published in Berlin.
Thank you.

Až dosud jsem jméno Pjotr Leščenko neznal. Opravdu nádherný hlas, nádherný přednes. Opravdu král tanga. Zdravím z Prahy

Again this video is a real visual and musical treat! Leschenko's interpretation is emotional, yet very balanced.
