  • @sintaeyong yep you've got support even out here in Korea hahaha ....man i can't wait to get back to Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave

  • Not making fun or trying to be rude btw. Also it's better when shooting supine (back) to stay down and just move your head slightly. Your a smaller target and it's less tiring if you are down there for long times. Lastly try to keep your feet flat so they don't get shot.

  • I saw some really insufficient grips there. I saw one guy with his reaction hand thumb around the back of the gun! Another with his index finger hanging down. 1. High grip with your weapon hand 2. Reaction hand at a 45 degree angle with your thumb inline and down the slide/frame. Your reaction hand fingers will rest in your weapon hands grooves between your fingers. Thats a huge contact portion that needs to be filled.

  • Cool. I need to do some drills like that.

  • Remind them to not mash the trigger, and for safety stay on the same line of fire when shooting and moving. Good to have a spotter for each shooter if possible

  • i was reading an article on why a "gangster" as some may call it tilt their guns sideways when they shoot, it originated in drivebys so that the spent shells would fall back into the car and not onto the street or into the soon to be crime scene

  • @TeoDucky I heard the "gangster" sideways hold started because that is how you take a new pistol out of the box it comes in. But that may be wrong...... :)

  • Scootch00, I tried your advice in this video today. I just picked up a new gun and took it to the range and I was shooting like crap with two hands. So, I decided to mess around and go 1 handed. I turned the pistol sideways and I put all my rounds in the center in a very tight group! I was surprised. Great advice!

  • The fella @3:13 needs to watch his thumb placement or he may need stitches, just a heads up. Working at a shooting range for as long as I did Ive seen many new shooters need stitches or band aids.

  • @southernsureshot yes, i have seen that, he's totally going to get the tip of his thumb chewed up in that slide :P

  • @SleepyFox79 now i'm not saying that I didn't enjoy the video I absolutely did I just wanted to point out a potential safety hazard.

  • Finger Guide's New Gun Safety Attachment. Check it out.

  • Nutnfancy is an awesome guy but your up there too big guy .... Great job with everything

  • this is whats up !!! sooch not only preaches it he lives it! learn it -love it- live it! thanks sooch

  • Sooch, I remain envious of your gun form. Look at your muzzle control, wow.

  • Sooch, do you live near nut n fancy?

  • Man I need to go to the range!!!

  • Good stuff!

  • Don't understand why so many people get all fired up when someone says clip when it's a mag. Chill out people. Great vid Sootch. Always look forward to seeing you in my subscription updates.

  • TCB Brother! Now you guys should do one with carbines!

  • where do u live so u can shoot in ur backyard?

  • Awesome video seems like you are doing some of your own run and gun training. keep up the good work and long live the republic!

  • Hitting with the Nutnfancy cameo lol

  • Sootch,

Great job as always. Please explain the training techniques shown in the vid of moving forward while shooting at the target.Where you trying to practice the exchange to a fresh magazine after empty or simply focusing on the target while in motion?

    Thank you,

    Terry

  • armchair commando comment....dont forget to teach after action

  • nice :)

  • I've never seen someone tilt at a slight angle when firing one handed but that does make sense! I may try that on my next range trip just to see if it effects my recoil.

  • great vid sootch. I was wondering what were the pistols everybody used? what were the problems you all experienced with them? is that a taurus millenium that guy is shooting?

  • @DICHEADTACTICAL bye bye

  • Good training

  • sootch and nutnfancy i can wait to see that thts gona be awsome

  • @WPGOD go do a search on Nutn's page. He has done at least a couple with him already. I think they were sledgehammer runs.

  • Hey sootch! I saw a comment or two about this...maybe you prefer the way you were doing the one-handed drills, but I was trained to take the hand that's not holding the weapon and push it against your upper chest. It keeps your arm and hand out of the way and helps to create a little isometric tension even though you're only using the one hand. Works good for me. Just another idea! Cool vid and good job teaching a new shooter!

  • Good information sootch. thanks for showing.

  • Lol who knew sootch could be a badass!

  • Thumbs point at target. Support hand makes as much contact with the frame of the firearm as possible. I prefer isosceles or modified weaver, but you can get caught up in a fight at any time and not have exact foot placement. Just avoid having strong side foot forward of support side foot. That helps with grounding your weight.

  • Nice tips on holding the firearm. Great point on not gripping tight with strong hand. Grip strong with support hand and hold normally with strong side. Even, gradual trigger squeeze, on pad of finger. One note - when advancing or retreating I was taught it's best to go obliquely. This way the bad guy has to constantly recalculate aim. This is especially helpful at night. One poor soul had his support thumb on the wrong side of the firearm. Both thumbs should be parallel on support side.

  • Calling a mag a clip.....why u shouldn't? ? Would u call a lion a tiger? Would u call a car a tuck?

  • Hahahahaha. Call it a CLIP in every video from here on out, I love how upset every one gets.

  • This has to be my favorite sootch video yet. Great info on the natural one handed grip. Can't wait to go to the range and try it out.

  • Great vid

  • oh yeah have them start moving laterally off target and shoot, and shoot from their backs on the ground...

  • I must say you said alot of stuff that some of us that have been shooting for years just recently learned. Also, good form when you were shooting one handed. I think for 2012 all of us should 1. join the NRA or like organization and 2. introduce shooting to a new person- and follow SootchOO and how he shows newbies how to shoot!!!!

  • @glockster68 I learned a lot of this from Tom Givens at Target Master, a incredible firearms instructor out of Memphis Tenn. It changed a lot of things I was doing. Take care~

  • @glockster68 I quit the NRA because I got sick and tired of the constant junk mail and demands for donations, all worded in that "the UN helicopters are on their way now to take your guns if you don't send us a check IMMEDIATELY" hysterical tone. I understand that maintaining a political war chest takes funds, but I prefer to give what I can when I can without being constantly harassed for money.

  • The more we teach the proper methods of shooting and self defense the less "accidents" will happen good video

  • the guy shooting at 2.17 really did a good job. you can see his arm moving straight back and the gun barely moves up or down.

  • love the random "TNP ALL STARS" clip at the end.

  • @TacticalKnine dont you mean mag....i mean ahh

  • the reason people get shot in the hand is because people focus on the threat. hands hold gun, knives, etc. many times the hands get shot because that is where the shooter's attention is drawn in a gunfight due to physiological responses to a confrontation.

  • what's wrong with calling it a clip? I say mag sometimes clip sometimes I just yell "ammo" and my buddy throws me another clip/mag

  • @sootch00 What kind of pistols did you have in this video? I saw the Glock and 1911 but what were the others?

  • @WSHSwildcat18 Walther P99, Taurus 9mm, Argentine 1927 45acp, Glock M17 and M19,

  • Did I see.... NUTN FANCY at the end there? Can't wait for that one! Nice shooting Sootch!

  • Great exercises from different shooting positions. I am a firm believer in shooting with the weakest hand. If you get shot in your good hand what is the choices. Great video and advise. Take care.

  • You should have them either grab there belt or put there hand on there chest when shooting one handed .

  • Great video as always sir! Thanks for the tips!

  • The people that are getting so emotional about the clip/mag thing need to take a close look at their priorities...

  • @randylobb Amen. He's a new shooter thus the shooting lesson.

  • @sootch00 its ok he said that ....also when he was holding his wrist and shooting I feel is bad form but it is alot easier to watch than actually shooting.

  • Great video Sootch00 as always.

  • @Dumpsterdivers, imo better to learn to shoot well and safely, than to spend range time learning correct English usage. Also one of the reasons I put in a range on my property was so I wouldn't have to tolerate range prima donnas such as your self.

  • Sootch is a gangster

  • did you know that every time people call it a"clip" a kitten dies?!?!?.....ver y sad :( <------sad face

  • OH No it's a mag it's a mag not a clip LOL the world will not end if you call it a clip,Yoy knew what he was talking about lol.

  • "...clip change..." part of me died.

  • I love watching everyone freak out in the comments when someone calls a magazine a clip, lol your going to be ok people.

  • @Silverstack3r He's a new shooter. Thanks for the comment Bro~

  • Very good video friend

  • Like everything but the last 3 seconds

  • @wheredidileavemycell

    not a fan of nutnfancy?

  • Nice video, great points thanks sootch00

  • was that nutnfancy and sootch at the end. when did that happen?????????!!!!!!!!

  • @haydensroomstudios Last summer. It was an All Star shoot. Most excellent Dude! Lol!

  • So I take it a few of you have nothing better to do than to pause the video. Look for every single detail you can find wrong. Then point it out? {•~•} Just sayin bros. You know how you learn not do do somthing? By doing it. Did it hurt? Then you learned not to do it.

  • 3:47 Someone teach that guy how to hold a pistol... I mean if it works for him SURE, but I would imagine he'd improve A LOT if he had better control over the gun... He's holding the guns the same way throughout the video too.

  • 3:11 his support hand thumb is behind the slide.

  • So I guess all those shooters using the isosceles are doing it wrong???? Oh, and at 3:12 why don't you tell the shooter to fix his grip! Good way to loose his support hand thumb!

  • @Steve5404 This is from Tom Givens at Target Master. Awesome firearms instructor. I was pointing out the strengths. You can hold your pistol however you want.

  • Pointing out the difference between clip and mag can make any newbie sound knowledgeable!

  • Good video. The bit about the hand angle was interesting, I hadn't ever really thought about the hand's natural stance when shooting. Unfortunately for me, regarding the in-line with the bone thing, I am left eye dominant and right handed, so I kind of hold the pistol across my body when I shoot--I'm working on getting my head positioned different to compensate.

Another great video, Sootch! God bless!

  • I love You Tube!! Every day something fresh. Keep up the good work.

    Glock n Load,

    Mike

  • Magazine or Clip we ALL knew what you meant. So when do I get an invite to the sledgehammer SouthEast style.

  • Jeez, I hate shootin left handed

  • Don't call them clips magazines, or magzines clips.... people get all sensitive about it. lol It's English people nothing makes sense about it. even more so when your drunk... People parking in drive ways, driveing on parkways.... Rear ends and axles are two different things... Ya'll just gotta try to understand what people are talking about..... PEACE! Great vid.

  • WoW Im surprised No one said some thing in the comments about mortal kombat 2:36 So ima go and say it..... FINISH HIM

  • NUTNFANCY!?

  • Sootch, I for one appreciate your willingness to take your knowledge & experience to others so they might benefit from it. Remember, being a leader means you're going to be taking more hits than the stragglers. Just watch the Republican Primaries for a few hours. Well done, my friend. Blessings on you.

  • Sootch, Sootch, Sootch. You of all people should know, It's a Magazine!! Besides that it was an informative video. Thanks for sharing, take care.

  • @Rogerthat5x5 I did not say "Clip". That's my Brother n law and he's a new shooter. Thanks for appreciating the rest of the video! Lol! .

  • @sootch00 I was just poking your ribs a little and I'm glad your laughing about it! Take care.

  • Well done

  • You have no bones or muscles taking up recoil when shooting "gangster style" it is very innacurate for the reasons Sootch00 mentioned...and the brass hits you in the face.

  • Good stuff as aways Sootch!

  • @ sootch, you are very cutting edge to recognize tilting your hand like gang bangers do. It is actually very useful when shooting from behind a shield, or from behind cover, and yes in a gun fight most good guys and bad guys get hit in the hands. That is why you must train to transition to your opposite hand and practive clearing a double feed with your "weak" hand, etc. Well Done Don.

  • @thumbsnap Thanks Brother

  • @neptuneblueZ and @NC77583, who really cares if you call it a clip, or a magazine. I spent 8 years as an infantry grunt, and have been a range instructor as a police officer for 21 years, and yes I call it a magazine, but never really cared if people call it a clip. I don't understand why certain people get their dander up by calling it a clip.

  • @thumbsnap

A mag is a mag, and a clip is a clip.

There is a difference between the two!!

As an instructor you need to teach your students the correct terminology.I suppose you let your students get away calling a pistol a revolver, and a revolver a pistol.

  • @dumpersterdivers Thank you VERY much. It's good to know that some people still think like we do.

  • Was That a rendition of "gimme three steps" at around 3:45? excelent video Thank you.

  • Good information.

  • Great vid very good info and I like your leadership. Keep it up.

  • "Clip change" No, no, no and NO. It's a magazine Sir!

  • @NeptuneBlueZ and that same guy needs to watch out where he places his support hand thumb. putting it behind the slide is a sure way to lose the top of it or get it broken!!!!!

  • @NeptuneBlueZ The "Clip" change comment is from my brother n law who has just started taking an interest in shooting. Relax dude. It's not a safety violation.

  • Love it !!

  • I would love to come out and experience this sort of day. I've heard about the ergos regarding how and were to hold in order to direct the kinetic energy, but reading something like that and actually having someone decent to help show it in person are two different things.

  • Good vid Sootch. What happened at 3:43? You had to rack the slide.

  • @lhusby No round in the chamber : )

  • No offence, but, (@ 1:43) "clip change" MY ASS!!!! MAGAZINE / MAG CHANGE!!!! DAMN IT!!!!

  • @NC77583 He's a new shooter and just learning. Profanity... seriously???

  • @sootch00 Sootch, I'm a BIG fan of your, I'm even your subscriber. But I'm sorry to say that's not a simple mistake. It has to be corrected ASAP! I'm not saying you messed up by not teaching him the correct way to say it the first time you heard him say it wrong, I'm saying he messed up by calling a magazine, a clip. And sorry for the profanity, I didn't know it bothered you that much. Sorry. But after some time, this really gets on my nerves.

  • @NC77583 This is a small segment of what we talked about. The guy with the camera grabbed it after we had been talking for a few minutes. Obviously, I need to revisit our discussion in more detail on an upcoming video. The Clip comment was from my Brother N Law and he's a novice shooter. I started thinking about the one handed drill and wasn't listneing unfortunately. Sorry to get everyone all distressed.

    Thanks for your comment~

  • @sootch00 Never mind, friend!! You still did a wonderful job, and that's still a great video!!! "Keep up the fire!"

    Arthur.

  • looks like great day with good friends, well done

  • lots of trigger jerking

  • Looking forward to that run' gun with Nutnfancy!

  • i am sure the child warriors of Africa would appreciate this vid man

except for the fact they have really shot people and now are just trying to adjust

with help from people...... Who do not like guns

    god bless

  • @thenephilin1 i forgot you live in a world where there is a police officer in every house to save you

  • @thenephilin1 blame the broken political situation in africa, not the guns. you are misled. ill informed. besides shooting someone to live maybe something u have to do one day. if u dont, they will rape and kill your family. so watch out, bubba lurks.

  • @thenephilin1 After a completely and utterly retarded comment like that I think you should offer your services to the child warriors of Africa as a human shield.

  • No offense but I feel like there's got to be a way you can render out videos without all the extra black bars. The bars on top and bottom are due to rendering/exporting the video out a certain size and dimension that is different then the original. The bars on the sides are YouTube's normal player that can't be helped due to the dimensions of the video uploaded.

  • Well, I'll have to try the semi-gangster hold. I learned the "traditional" hold as a rookie police officer in 1961 when all shooting was done one-handed. Although I am an old dog, I certainly am not one that can't learn new tricks. The word, however, must not be getting out in that when I have yet to see someone at the range (and I go multiple times a week) using anything but the traditional hold. Having said that, I don't see too many shooting one handed - unfortunately.

  • Nice video. Nutnfancy there?

  • @TheCoroncachannel It was from a few years ago when Sootch and Nutn met to shoot.

  • Good show! Do you find your accuracy is better when you fire your pistol one-handed? I'd think a more natural stance would result in better shots.

    Richard

  • New handgun shooters i meant

  • From teachin a couple of bew handgun shooters, the three most important things are 1-do not put your thumb behind a semiauto slide/do not put any fingers near the front of a revolver cylinder

2-slowly squeeze trigger straight back while keeping the sights on target

3-do not anticipate when shot will go off, no matter how big the muzzleblast will be

  • good job sootch I definitively like this one, a little short though. I hope that you are planning longer ones like it.

  • Again Sootch....your having too much fun my friend!!!!!

  • Beautiful property and fun shooting. Kudos.

  • Hk p30 rock!

  • SOOOOOOOOOTCH lol at the end.

  • Comment removed

  • Okay, I'm confused. I infer from what was said that the superior one hand method of shooting is with the hand canted to replicate the way we point. If that's the case, why do I see national class, off-hand target shooters using that technique? As an aside, I qualified as expert holding my hand straight - will I get better if I turn my hand semi gangster style?

  • @skykink the best method is the one that puts lead on target brother. you could play around with it at the range but if your hitting 35/36 (you shoot 36 for advanced marksmanship right?) with verticle orientation and not canted then seems like it works just fine

  • @skykink It's from Tom Givens at Target Master. Incredible Firearms instructor.

  • dig that i learn a lot of extras just by watching your videos man thanks

  • nice tips, good to know.

  • Great job fellas...looks like fun

  • Good tips always fun to see ppl react to shooting while moving

  • The older fella dia great mag exchange..Sootch you guys are gaming up nice.

  • @superstreetdogg As long as they are not all wearing Kilts!!!!

  • Great shooting and some good pointers. I reallyneed some land so we can have our own range.

  • When are we gonna see you again in TNP?

  • @BruceBufferFTW I second this!

  • I'd love to shoot at a range like that!

  • Excellent!! Mr.sootch

  • nothing better than getting outside with friends and making some noise. Stay safe my friend. -Tim

  • Looks like fun brother, thanks for sharing!!!

  • Very nice!

  • wow thats awesome

  • Great Video!
