Anti-misceganation laws were enacted in 30 of 48 states from 1913 - 1943. The United States never enacted a law preventing it but states did. Today interracial marriage is legal and is still taboo for black men to be with white women. Does that mean that black women want to go back to segregation?

Additionally women marry men an average of 5 years older making the competition for young women even tougher.

A woman's softness is what attracts a man. Always has been and always will be. One of the reasons black women want thugs i think it's because the thugs themselves want a woman with a hard edge. Especially the ones who have been in prison who favor that male energy that average black women embody. They may like that male energy under the guise of a female appearance.

I'm a black woman and definitly make sure I say hello and good morning to people that say it to me man or woman. Yes many sisters will not say anything, but thats not me and many other sisters. I'm a nice person and since I exist, I know there are many sisters like me too so sisters being so mean and unbearable is an excuse. At the same time, there is a shortage of black men. Its sheer math, women out number men in any race but worst with blacks because of our other issues like prison.

All I'm saying is that it's mostly the BM w/ the serious issues. I'll tell you how I know. I've been out with 2 African born men. They actually took me out & treated me like a lady-something that I don't get from African American Men. Neither one was gainfully employed or had flashy cars or clothes,but it didn't matter. Personally I think it's the whole classism scheme.
I run through the same thing at my work, I'll greet any passer by(I'm in Canada so the majority are white) and most of the time I get a response, with black folks, particularly black women, I'll greet and get nothing, even the ladies that are old enough to be my grandmother don't say hello back.
It's sad, but atleast you can't say I didn't try.
It is a mind game though, I just don't play it.

The ONLY problem I have is the ASSUMPTION that is inherent in these discussions is that most black women are Professionals and Corporate heavy-weights. So from THAT vantage point it would SEEM as if there is a "shortage" of BM.
MOST Bw AREN'T professionals with these great Titles. Most are cashiers, work in retail, are secretaries, or nurses. Non-professional BW desire BM as well I hate the way the topics are framed in such a way as if most BW were professionals.

Also, we seem to forget that A LOT of men working blue collar jobs make MUCH MORE money than a college-educated individual. An electrician, a plumber, or any other blue collar workers in similar fields OFTEN make more than the folks with degrees... and oftentimes they end up owning their OWN business from the trade they worked in.
A degree is NOT always a good indicator of success. We ALL know people with degrees working in DEAD END jobs that have NOTHING to do with their degrees.

Some women set their expectations way too high, and refuse to give the janitor, garbage man, truck driver/ bus driver the time of day. I for one was like that, but realized the the average man with an average everday job (blue collar job) treated me better than the corporate man. The only shortage is us women refusing to be open to all men no matter their occupation and economic status.
I am a black woman and know that good black men do exist.

i believe the bigger problem is that BLACK WOMEN set their standards way to high - and BLACK FEMALE TEENS who will later become BLACK WOMEN set their standards too low.
It serves no purpose for black women to only seek good black men when they're pushing 30yrs old. And then wonder why so many of the black men they grew up with ended up being thugs! Thats what they liked when they were young but they expect the world to change when they change like a light switch
