both are addicting however the only problem i'd have with MSG is if it is artificially addictive. But i'm not really knowledgeable with MSG though to give insight.
@kemiplz MSG is not artificial. It's a natural salt that is cultivated from seaweed. It naturally occurs is many foods you eat. Besides seaweed, it's very concentrated in potatoes, meat, tomatoes, mushrooms so on and so forth.
actually nowadays a lot of the Chinese family stop using MSG due to its potential side effect and starts to use other seasonings made from concentrated nature ingredient as substitutes.
i think this is the best explanation to y he used MSG. theses shows r heaps old even though teens of today watch IC all da tym. i do nd iw as only born wen this started

I think they over do it with the garnish. The raw greens on those drum sticks that aren't even going to be touched, damn.

Would you consider this:
MSG is to China
as Wine is to France

@chefkoo Don't forget peas, peas probably have the highest amount of MSG than another vegetable.

The duck tartare looks amazing, but I doubt I'll ever come across a restaurant that serves anything like it.

Disgrace to authentic Chinese people.

MSG is actually a pretty natural ingredient.

Yeah.. but again, using MSG in one of the world class arena is quite shameful, don't you think?
People use MSG to enhance the flavor without using natural ingredient and I think that's kind of cheating in this level of competition :)

I have to disagree. Every Chinese restaurant in China, good or bad, uses MSG. It is an essential ingredient actually.
GooseHinson 4 years ago 2
the resturants may use it, but i dont consider authentic
allzinc1989 4 years ago
It is authentic, that's what I'm saying. The Chinese chefs have no shame and don't hide the fact that they use it.

Whats MSG?
YourNumberOneViewer 4 years ago
Monosodium glutamate. It's a flavourer enhancer.
When you eat cup noodles, it has MSG, if you eat chips, it has MSG as well.
That's why you're so addicted to it.
It's like drugs.

that duck tartare looks absolutely amazing.

This challenger has so many authentic techniques, he's really good. But then Sakai hardly ever loses, so I don't know who will win

Can't wait to see 5 of 5. Presentation gives iron chef the edge here I think... Challenger's food looks tastier though!
