  • amazing...

  • I use cardboard liberaly coated with primer sealer, never noticed any problem. Also rubbing one's bare hand across the repair area will get you a royal chewing in many high end shops

  • What do you use instead?

  • there is a poroduct called quick sheets. GL1800-12"X12" DISPOSABLE SHEETS (100 PER BOARD).these are made just for mixing fillers.when you use cardboard you introduce paper in to the filler that can cause problems.some guys use metal peices of sheetmetal.this can be a problem because they are usually caked on with old filler that can contaminate the product. remember always work clean.

  • Why not to use another filler spreader, that´s so small amount of putty, that you can mix it on another spreader, much easier and cheaper if working in small bodyshop. that kind of "minor" details can save pretty good money :)

I used an old cutting board at first, and later learned to use two spreaders.

  • There was a dude talking about some next generation technology for auto body's exterior pannels, I.E. that metal that you paint on the cars exterior. The video was removed and I was wondering if someone could help me find the video again even on another site?

  • You're making more work for yourself by spreading the plastic filler into the paint.

  • if u think thats a lot of filler u r a n00b

  • Wow, thats quite a bit of bondo.

  • aluminum kyle your a noob

  • No cscal82 you're the noob. The waxes in the cardboard can be released and contaminate the filler. The use of aluminum as a mix board is widely accepted. But buying a 14 dollar tear off mixing board is a better choice.

  • Im going to be taking Collision Repair Technology at New Market, and just wanted to see if anyone one could give me some tips.

    -thanks

  • pretty good...hint- went mixing dont use cardboad use aluminum because the fibers in the cardboard will mix in with the filler and the finished job wont be as smooth

  • Also there are wax binders in the cardboard that may soak into the filler which may cause it to either lift or not cure properly which in turn may cause undesired bubbling or flaking of the finish coats.

  • yea u need to use a non porous surface to avoid pinholes

  • hey pelican 911..I'm a student who goes to lincoln tech, who is graduating in july i also have a part time job in a body shop. I belive that the pay is good but to me it's not so much for the money but it is the interest that i have in working on them. I think it is great that you are considering going to a tech school to learn about the trade, but it does take some dedication.

  • GOOD VIDEO. THANKS...

  • hi i was thinking into going to school for auto body repair.. i just wanted some advice from someone in this field.... is it a good job as in pay and as in the nature of the job? whats the hardest part of it?(matching color?)

  • Interesting. You make it look easy. I know it takes practice. Thanks.
