  • CPC is one of the examples, why C64 was always prefered. It's all with the (fat) SID sound. It has been something exceptional in the 80s. People liked that sound and tried to put the best around it. So other systems, even if faster, losed due to the "less good" sound.

  • A masterpiece in demo making, and not just on cpc. Respect.

  • RhinoBG / Batman Group los putos amos!!! Que gran talento...

Gracias tambien a los monsters MAC y Factor6 por esta espectacular exhibición..

    Un abrazo del tito killing

  • Holy Zilog Batman!!!

  • you gotta be kidding!!!! o_O wow!!

  • this is just awesome !

  • Ok, how do I build a 64K expansion for a CPC 464?

  • Incredible...

  • Amstrad CPC - The lil' 8-bit that could!

  • Superior to the movie of the same name.

  • How to make a demo like a Boss.

  • INSANE. congrats gentleman. the future is 8-bit.

  • Very good demo, impressive video effects. But you have still to improve the PSG usage over the SID in order to go completely beyond the C64 :P

  • holy damn, this is awesome.

...so "desert dream" remake is real then?

  • Amstard 4MHz VS C64 1MHz

    Amstard 128K VS C64 64K

    Mode 0 - 160*200 - 16 colours

    Mode 1 - 320*200 - 4 colours

    Mode 2 - 640*200 - 2 colours

    Mode 3 - 160*200 - 4 colours

I am C64 guy but I really enjoy in yours great production. You guys are heroes.

Please tell us more about graphic modes that you used in this demo. Is there any new code that hack one of the graphic modes quoted above?

I saw CPC can use 16 colors from 27 color palette.

  • @musicgod2006

    Thank you very much.

Yes, video modes have you listed are the standar documented modes. But this demo is in overscan:

    192x272 for mode 0

    384x272 for mode 1

    768x272 for mode 2.

We also use rasters (or vertical split) to get extra colors.

And there is a screen in 384x272 (mode 1) and 16 colors + some extra colors due the flickering interlaced.

  • Take that, C64!!!
