Can't people organize in their areas and get fund raisers going and then take it to the reservation. If we just worry about reservations in your area the help may never get to areas such as Pine Ridge. Some states do not have reservations. Others have a means to support their communities.
hello to every 1. & i hope all is well with you & yours. i live here on the rez & i thank u all for your support & prayers . yes alot of us struggle to make things happen for our fam.but after a long day of work & no matter how hard we have it sometimes all that seems to disapear when i come home & walk in the door becuz of all the love i get from my babies & my beautiful wife nothing else seems to matter after that you know what im saying as long as we stick together as fam. then wewill make it
I think this has happned, because the american government has pretty much given them their plot of land, to survive on. with a few shops, and not much support at all.
now as the rest of the nation progresses and moves forward with jobs, money etc. the people on the rez are held in a way to live up to the same expectation as the rest of the people, but with a whole lot less support.
im actually trying to get things together to bring there next summer. house supplies, hygiene things, or anything they could use. im from Minnestoa so if anyone from around here reads this and wouldnt mind helping/ getting the word out you should message me. i have sent about 20 emails tonight just so i can try to set something up. i really want to healp them out.
Through my involvement in the First Nations Film Festival and personal study I have come to know the suffering of the Lakota People. In the past month they have been especially in my prayers. The conditions on Pine Ridge and other 'reservations" are shameful for a nation with so many resources and so much waste. We send millions overseas to "build nations" but let our own people languish. It is tragic and must change.
@wbworkout yes and that was one point of this video, it is a shame only in america do we go oversees to build up 3rd world countries but close their eyes to the ones in their own country....the great spirit will one day judge them for this crime to humanity
@donnabuckner I know that I am not the only one who feels this way about the state of "Nations" in our own country that are ignored or stymied in their efforts to progress by bureaucracy and apathy. There are many who say they are religious and devout but will be surprised when they face our Creator. Good journey....

@wbworkout Then what can we do to help? My God in Heaven, this cannot go on! What is Indian Affairs doing in the Obama Administration? I live in Florida and don't know how to help this change!
@blondeveggieful Educating your self is a good place to start, read, research on Youtube. Give what you can, the American Indian Relief Council is a good charity. Attend Pow Wows in your locality to observe and learn, volunteer for Native Charities in your area if possible. Since Tribes are usually self governing sovereign Nations they manage most of their own affairs. Problems come from historic relocation, isolation and neglect on the part of the BIA. Like other things it's bureaucracy.
@wbworkout That's what upsets me is all the bureaucracy and neglect by the BIA. There is never anything in my area in regards to Native Charities or Pow Wows. On one of the U-Tube videos, a native american woman was asking for help and gave her name and phone number. Do you think it's a good idea to call and give money directly to her. There was no running water in her home, no job, but living on the reservation was all she's ever known. I want to call her up and send her money.
@blondeveggieful I am sorry that I did not answer soon. It's been rather chaotic here the past 4 weeks. Regarding you assisting this lady. Self reflection and intuition should serve you here. There is no way of knowing if her story is honest. It may be but scammers are everywhere. Ask questions. If she is on Youtube, she has a computer, internet, and electricity. So how "poor" and needy is she. She may be in need but be cautions. I recommend this charity, The American Indian Relief Council.
@blondeveggieful There is an organization that does help. It is called the Lighthouse Project. This is on youtube. type in Moses Brings Plenty. He is an activist, actor and member of the Oglala Lakota tribe.
At 1:01 “I can't understand why the real founders of this this country live like this” I agree. They should stop spending their money on drugs and alcohol and spend it on food and housing instead.
@DVDluvr123 Not to mention that the money they are spending is usually from the much hated U.S. Government and profits from gangs who push the drug and weapons trade along with robbery of their fellow Native Americans. However they are in a desperate situation and I can't blame them for resorting to doing whatever they have to in order to survive there. It is a hard life. Helping each other is alot easier said than done.
I am headed to the Pine Ridge Oglala-Sioux Reservation in July to run a natural building workshop teaching how to build homes from natural and waste materials, the house will be made from pallets and in filled with light straw clay an earthen plaster will be applied on the interior and exterior of the home, I am looking for volunteers, and I am taking 8 apprentices to learn this method of home building, for more info click my name and go to my website, see you there!!
well look at it like this in some ways ya you got fucked but you got your pride and that is one thing no one on capitol hill have...always remember the pride of your ancestors, treat your elders with the respect they deserve and teach your young their heritage and to be a proud people..i didnt make this video to make you sad, but to bring awareness to others of how evil this government is....and that the natives have rights and its far time the government acknowledges that
@donnabuckner The government isn't going to acknowledge anything. The Native Americans are NEVER going to get the black hills back unless they take it back by force. The U.S. Government is not going to help you do that or empower you in any form. The Government enslaves its citizens and creates dependency upon them. That is how they maintain control. The only way to become free of those chains by being completely self reliant which is hard to do when you have nothing.
@srlegs Your ancestors were the ones who were really screwed. The new generations have no excuse. Although you may come from harsh poverty you live in the U.S. where you can make something new for yourselves. I fear that nothing will change for the Lakota people unless the cycle is broken. Hopefully our generation can overcome these troubles. We must work together because man power is the one resource that is abundant on the Reservation. Bless you.
