  • Is that La La on Dee Dee's right?

  • im 11 and i would rather listen to this than the crap music of today

  • I wish i lived back in these days..

  • This is much better than lady goo goo

  • This was all Phil Spector, what a legend

  • quadrophenia!

  • None or them are dead: La la is more active than ever, doing shows all the time (next show scheduled 02/19/2012 in Long Island). So is Dee Dee, the only one who can use the name The Crystals. The Gorgeous Frances Collins lives in Miami where she teachs Dance and writes poetry.

  • This song is great anytime, but getting high and driving around listening to it is like a religious experience.

  • lip syncing - where are the microphones?

  • this song makes me happy

  • Wonderful old song - I love it still!

  • Its great to hear a time when artists and the audience are enjoying themselves. Its one wonderful party. How on earth did Phil Spector cram so much entertainment into 2 minutes that you don't mind hearing over and over again. Da Doo Ron Ron thank you Wall Of Sound.

  • Such conservative dress and moves and I find it so much sexier than all the skin showing and pelvic thrusting they use today to try to be sexy.

  • I never understand people who dislike a specific track. Why did you look for it then or are you a youtube troll looking for things to hate. Get a life you losers!

  • Standards have slipped dramatically.

  • Who is the beauty in the middle?

  • @sbubbb That's DeeDee Kennibrew in the middle.

  • @XL2man Thanks! Merry Christmas!

  • One of these ladies is Prodigy's mother; Prodigy is 1half of the rap group Mobb Deep.

  • This reminds me of an improv game...

  • depressing to think these women are old and or dead right now. time goes so fast. this was their instant in time to shine and now it is gone.

  • got too say I like all music from the pistols to mozart to motown to ga ga .

I think that because it was new then, it has the same effect that ga ga has now the wording and the content of the wording has manners and that some, not all music today is rude crude and all together sex drugs and pimpin driven cos sex drugs sells, apply that to music and a hot vid big bucks.!.... But this is old school with a feel that is history and I say that with a heavy heart..as this is class.

  • La La leads here, not Ronnie.

  • The year was 1963 and Ronnie Bennett was singing up front (lead) on this Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" production. Later, Ronnie would marry Spector and become Ronnie Spector. I remember buying the 45 RPM record of this recording and playing it until the needle blew up BUT I never did understand the title?? Does anyone? "Da-Doo-Ron-Ron" but in the lyrics ~ Ronnie Bennett sings, "I met him on a Monday and my heart stood still, somebody told me that his name was Bill." Is he Ron or is he Bill?

  • @MrRonnieG Nope. It's not Ronnie Bennett, it's La la Brooks, most absolutely and definitely. And "Da Doo Ron Ron" only meant that the writers had no lyrics for those lines... they'd go in and write them later. BUT it turned out that the fill in words were perfect, and became the title of the song-- which was originally "When He Walked Me Home." Check around online: there is much written about these groups.

  • that is why Lady gaga (meaning stupid woman) !in my dialect, sings most of the old hits to sell records...Next time you listen to her, i would bet she cannibalized that song from the 60's ....

  • Enough with the "Music these days suck...". Everyone that's on this video already knows that, clearly. Just shut up and enjoy the music!

  • I've been searching for this song for years. I remember listening to it on the radio in the late 70's when i was in 1st grade and thinking it was the coolest song ever. The only lyrics I could remember were " a do run run run a do run run run" My daughters said, why dont u google them (duh!) And found it! I'm sooooooo happy!

  • 32 dislikes? What kind of misery is a person in to dislike these beautiful girls and this fresh and beautiful music?

  • cant say much about black music these days, im 25 and hate the modern stuff

  • From Java 1.2 SwingUtilities:

    doRun.run(); // ... "a doo run run".

  • Simply hands down the BEST girl group performance of them all.

  • i'm not vain, but my name is BILL and i love this tune

  • people these days just cant stand music older than 2 years old

  • I LOVE this song,

my friends think im mad or something

  • @Archetrixxx It's catchy!

  • Am I hallucinating or did ELO make a cover of this? I have been looking for it for years to download but no luck...

  • It may not be a great classic, but I've been hearing it since I was small, it has a good beat and you can dance to it. That makes it pretty good.

  • Say what you want- but the music today SUCKS- sorry can't say it any other way. THIS is talent--and the ladies are lovely and talented. You can keep the freak ga-ga and her half wit egg. Now bring on the hate mail. All I can say I was very lucky to have witnessed these ladies years ago. Thank you ladies -you really rock!

  • @gustfront180 no hate mail here 100% agree :))

  • @thebeta53 -- you are obviously a person of superb taste. keep rocking!

  • @gustfront180 - Well, I wouldn't say today's music sucks. I'd say that it is just in a style different then the good old oldies, that while we who grew up on the classics don't always understand, it has it's own appeal in a different form to some people. But I do prefer the classics over the newer stuff, though I enjoy music from most time-periods.

  • @gustfront180 Oh yes, you should use larger font for SUCKS.. today they are pumping young generation with rap and all that crap which has nothing to do with music!!

    Thanks

  • @gustfront180

Oh dear another one of you pompous smartasses. Maybe the music you are listening to sonny is shitty, which is your fault. Broaden your horizons then. I know for a fact that there were shitty musicians putting out music back then too, some of which blew up, just like today. Only now, when WE the modern era look back, mostly the good ones show up, obviously. Look around, great challenging and inspiring music is still being made today, get your ass off your pedestal.

  • @gustfront180 Have to agree - simple as that.

  • @gustfront180 You lucky son of a bitch! I was born in the wrong time! Im 19 and hate todays music! I wish I was born in the 40s so I could have grown up in the 50's and 60's listening to actual music. Not like the crap they have now...

  • @gustfront180 took the words out a my mouth..thanks

  • Although I am 16 years old, while most people of my age prefer modern music, I appreciate the quality of this music much more than many of today's. I think it's a shame this style is not appreciated my many younger people, because this is one of the best songs of the 60's. Great upload :)

  • That's rappers prodigy of mobb deep mom right there

  • Now that's how it's done!!!xx love em!xx

  • Fantastic sound from a great era for music. We were spoilt.

  • Imagine being there his was the year it came out .the sax solo alone is classic

  • Phil Specktor...though your last days will be spent in the big house I'll remember you for the Wall of Sound.

  • Darling girls. Thanks.

  • pure rock

  • Who recorded "Da Doo Ron Ron" first the Crystals or the Raindrops?.

  • i agree

  • i hate this song it is gay

  • @mstg3107 then most classics are gay to you ? Then you are a hypster ... Being a hypster is gay ...

  • this songs pretty awsome.

  • hot.. i bet they smell nice

  • please come back girls

  • Saw a Recent Interview With "LaLa".......She was "15" When This Was Recorded. Young, Black & Talented,

As Were Many Of The Girl Singers Of The 60's.

Lala, Darlene, Aretha, Dionne: Long Live All Of Them!!

  • God. Does anyone else find The Crystals to be extremely alluring in this? I would give up a liver to be with all three of them.

  • One of these women is Prodigy from Mobb Deep's mother. The reason how i know is cus im reading his book and this is one of his mother's songs from The Crystals

  • Beautiful girls, a boss sax solo . . . what I'd give to go blasting this in a muscle car down the road like American Graffiti!

  • Phil Spector is a real music genius

  • It would have been amazing to be a teen in the sixties :)

  • Cruisin' along in a '64 GTO with the Crystals on the radio...

  • Great song, great vid, but those gals dancing in the background better be careful or they're going to break something!

  • 1964 must have been the year i died in my last life..........

  • Everytime i search for RON RON, who by tha way is from Kansas City, Missouri...haha i get this which is a great history lesson but i get this....it's all good, KC IZ THA TOWN!!!!

  • Brilliant.

  • those dancers in the background are my heroines from now on!

  • @doowopit Appreciate your comments on the biology of music during these times..I try and tell and show my kids how the music changed after the Beatles....how music went in so many directions...don't think they understand the gift we had back then. Just look at the top 100 from 1964 and tell me that could happen today....ie. the quality of the music and the many directions of the songs...glad we still enjoy...thanx Doo!

  • MAGIC

  • Would love to have seen all the girl groups, these & the Ronnettes!!!!!!! Plus all the rest in those days! loved them all! xxxx

  • Wonderful! Absolute ladies with stunning talent!

This was presumably well before the days when you needed more tattoos than a steelworker to be cool....

WTF has happened to music today...?

    And is there a cure...??

  • ariana grande brought me here!

  • This does make me think of a scooby-doo chase scene! haha

  • We don't see quality like THIS anymore!

  • Great performance. Beautiful girls, Lala and dee dee . They really don't need the funky, silly looking dancers in the background . they do nothing fo the act.

  • @sergio944 That's the way acts were back then and we liked it.

  • On the left is Fatima Frances Collins. She later married Budd Johnson Jr., and on Nov. 2, 1974, they welcomed son Albert Johnson aka Prodigy from Mobb Deep.

  • Please, stop repeating Darlene sang lead on this!! If you really knew Darlenes voice you^d never say that again. Darlene and Lala voices were completely diferent. This song was originally recorded by the beautiful and talented Lala Brooks

  • These girls could really sing, and what a tremendous song. If this was entered as the UK's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, Portugal would win, Armenia would still vote for Georgia and we'd still come last.

  • Ones is enough,good grief...

  • Ones is enough

  • ones is emough

  • that's prodigy of mobb deep mom's right there

  • Little LaLa Brooks couldn't have been much older than 16 or 17 when the Crystals made this song. What a sound!!!!!

  • Hsecman, thanks for the note,I ment to include Ronnie Spector as one of the best Girl Group lead Singers as well, but it was on the Crystals Do Run Page, youre right.I think they,re all wonderful.merci

  • Doo Wopp Explosion starring The Crystals, Charlie Thomas Drifters, Shirley Alston Reeves original lead singer of The Shirelles, Vito Picone And The Elegants are playing together on Friday June 24, 2011 at the Chevalier Theatre Medford MA (Boston area).

  • oh man that wall of sound is SCREAMING on this song! 3 drummers, 5 sax players-WOW!

  • GO CRYSTALS! I love how barry gordy required his motown artists to go to charm school and made them choreograph all their songs.

  • @HSECMAN The Crystals had nothing to do with Gordy or Motown, it was a Phil Spector record.

  • @GlenQuagmireful I know Darlene Love and the Blossoms did some background singing for Motown,I knew one of the Motownband member

  • I've never seen cuter chicks. Great song too

  • I remember being about 6-7 and dancing to this with my sister on the front porch :)

  • That was True Talent!!!!Hard to find now days. That Music will live on forever, because it was simply Great. Thanks LA LA,THANKS DARLENE AND RO NNIE SPECTOR!

  • @mizzfoxy9 sorry mizz-ronnie specter was in the ronnettes.

  • Most of the Crystals hits were recorded in 1961-1964,and all produced by Phil Spector he is doing a bit of bird at this moment.

I WAS SO LUCKY TO LIVE THROUGH AND WITH THIS MUSIC!

  • Pure Class!

  • Great and very catchy song!!!!!!!!

  • These ladies are Gorgeous , if women looked like that today every man would would go GA GA over them . Doesn't it seem that women back then were more Ladylike & Feminine . But most important they have Beautiful voices & this is a Great song .

  • I love this I was about 15 when this come out and danced on Top of the Pops and Ready Steady Go to it brilliant time to be a kid!!

  • the one in the middle was cute back then =)

Check out timekode(dot) co(dot)uk and find out!

  • why are there some women in the backround waving their arms and moving funny ? i dont get it

  • Has there ever been a more up tempo song?

  • Fabulous, fabulous - what more can I say - first time I've seen them on stage - too bad most modern girl singers don't have this talent.

  • I too thanks God that I was in my early teen years when I first heard this, it was exciting fifty years ago, it is even more so today, there is just nothing lacking here, Miss Brooks, I will always love you

  • great music still

  • cher sang backing vocals on this song as well as the righteous brothers youve lost that loving feeling

  • La La was a real cutie back then. And she's still hot today! And the same voice too, hasn't changed a bit.

  • Delores LA LA BROOKS

Lead singer of the Crystals in 1962 was only 15 years old. Can't accomplish that today and still making a living at it. Dolores Brooks (born June 20, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY will be celebrating her 64th birthday this June 20th.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LA LA.. Sir David. New York. USA

  • the coolest of the cool !

  • Classic love it

  • The absolute BEST girl group cut, ever.

  • Got to love the Wall of Sound!

  • i luv this song im dooin it for dance

  • The drums on this song are awesome. Thanks for the upload.

  • Way back then, the Artists could sing and dance.

  • It would be difficult to find three slender young women

who could sing in this period of Obesity epidemic!!!

  • Two minutes of pop perfection.

  • @willowbreeze121 I don't know if I'd really call the 1960's a time of free speech and respect for one another unless you're completely forgetting a little thing called the civil rights movement. I wouldn't be surprised if even the Crystal's didn't have a whole lot of respect thrown their way by the people who owned the venues they played at.

  • @poundcr The 60s was a huge change. Everything changed for the better faster than everyone expected.

There was a change in clothes, music, movies, tv, books, toys, culture, money and welfare.

Everyone was happy and healthy in the 60s and it was a time of freedom and independence so willowbreeze121 has it right.
