  • Still a better story than Twilight.

  • Thank you so much for going through the effort to put all these up, much appreciated! This has to be my favourite series of VW sketches :) So many brilliant ones to choose from though!

  • LOL classic xD

  • This is where Garth Meranghes Dark Place got its inspiration lol...

  • @DUGMAC1973 Haha, there are definite parallels! Both great shows.

  • Mr Clifford's David Hunter acting is spot on!!!

  • the 3 people who disliked obvisly dont know humor like we all do

    :)

  • Oooh! I love Acorn Antiques! Best show EVER!

  • I have had the shittiest day today but it always seems better when i watch this......so genius it hurts !!!!!

  • I hope this is a send up of american soaps, cos they are spot on

  • @bowler8 It's a send up of British ATV's 'Crossroads' in the mid 1960's...A soap series set in a country motel somehwere near Birmingham. It was famous for low budget wobbly sets and even lower budget wobbly scripts, performed live straight to tape and unedited in the early days so there was a degree of covering up when mistakes were made. But it was very popular and much loved..

  • What a crack-up!! I can't stop laughing!!

  • LOL "They say things go in threes! "Why whatever's wrong now? "You forgot my sweeteners!" LOL!

  • Genius, from start to finish. Still as funny as ever today..they should have made a full length series out of it.

  • "Yes... just bring your antiques in... bye!"

  • SO FUNNY!!!

  • Nevermind - It's bingo tonight

  • its like cheesy badly filmed loads of mistakes and wrong lines bad camera angles it can only be acorn antiques luv it loads its hilarious and i am only 13 so that is quite an unusual thing to say and yes i love the way how its meant to be crap it makes it more funny lol x

  • I love this! ,one of the funniest things in existence.

Thanks for posting this it's great!!

  • I used to find Acorn Antiques a bit cheesy and Mrs Overall a bit sad until I worked somewhere the office manager was also PA to the director and volunteer manager and couldn't delegate much as if she was a martyr. She had spent her childhood taking care of her younger half siblings and step siblings and taking care of everybody else was her life script.

She even did overtime as a cleaner in the same place when the cleaner was on holiday. Mrs Overall reminds me of her.

  • I was watchibh Upstairs, downstairs this afternoon & saw a very young Celia Imrie as a nurse!

  • Oh Acorn Antiques, hilarious !!!

  • Celia wow what a rack :B 2:13 Julie's face LMAO

  • They don't make em like this anymore!! The young don't get the irony of how crap it is..... its supposed to be.

  • it's the wonky pillar that gets me everytime! And Julie Walters face when she thinks the scene has finished! Amazing stuff... shame we don't get comedy like this anymore!!

  • I love how all the camera angles are set to be "very bad"

  • What happened to this kind of innocent but hilarious humour!?? It's all toilet humour and people eating insects nowadays... haha... NOT! Love Acorn Antiques... best line ever has to be 'What was it museli... what was it, museli?' lol

  • @RetroGirl1974 There's plenty of modern comedy which doesn't resort to base humour.

I'm sure you've heard of The Mighty Boosh, and also you should check out Look Around You. :)

  • I've changed, Clifford. I have triplets now.

  • Creme de la Creme of British talent. Adore Celia Imrie. "His heart stopped beating, somtimes thats Gods way of telling you you're Dead" So bloody funny. LOL

  • I don't like Duncan Preston in Emmerdale..maybe this was good experience for wooden dire scripts

  • this is timeless... bloody brilliant!

  • This was a skit on the original series of crossroads which featured noele gordon.mrs overall was based on a character called Amy turtle.played by an old actress called Ann George who couldn't act!

  • @thepescaton Hehe, I remember Crossroads... OMG I was just a little kid, I remember my Gran used to visit and liked to get home in time to watch Crossroads... aah, memory lane is a strange old place! :)

  • Celia Imrie can have a serious length.

  • Poor audience reaction!

  • Celia Imrie was such a tease in this.

Sexy as hell, then and now ;-)

    Great post!

  • Love Julie Walters 'the scene has finished' face at 2.12. Brilliant!!

  • "well they say things go in threes!"

"Why what ever is the matter now?"

"You forgeot my sweetner" LOL! I love that line!

  • mrs overall should have been given an obe for her raising awareness to dowagers humps-she's one of my comedy favs-thanks for posting this
