  • paddy's lament by Sinead o connor.....what a voice

  • These 2 have a way of surfacing my emotions

  • Comment removed

  • Jesus, she used to be beautiful. She looks really bad nowadays.

  • This version never worked for me. Cait's version is tops!

  • could there be less chemistry between these two? i don't think so.

  • They're probably related. Most Irish are. Inbred. That accounts for the big ears, small peckers, and fucked up teeth. Thank god the english civilized these fucks. Otherwise they'd still be fuckin' their sister, drunk out of their mind on whiskey, and living in a peat hut. Wait...really nothings changed other than the peat hut has it?

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta

    Tiocfaidh ár lá!

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta Most of any country are related, distantly. If you think Irish people are more inbred, maybe it's because the English destroyed a large amount of their population during the famine and with the plantation of Ulster. Don't be a dumb fuck, I don't hate English people but any who did anything to the Irish should burn.

  • @MmeLEnfer My folks are irish, I was born in England, my blood and all my history is Irish. I am Irish. Im supposed to be British, its what my passport says but I feel irish. My old man came over with maccies fusiliers.

The English People treated us well, when we were bombing them, they never treated us badly, it was the rich, the upper class, the 1%, that hurt our people, the English themselves have become good people with big hearts they hate to see suffering now, fight for the oppressed

  • @PVSJuicer That's a lovely comment. I wasn't attacking the English as a whole however, just a specific group, and I was replying to that other person's comment. Anyway, I hope I didn't come across wrong. Cheers

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta What a Prick you are

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta

Hey strawman, you just made my fucking day. Now, take those Irish hands off your small ears, slide the small Irish pecker out of your throat, pass it to your mother, go brush your teeth & then get to bed you ignorant, aesthetically challenged xenophobic cracker bitch. And maybe get someone who can read to look the big words up for you & explain them. Ask them to read to you the meaning of civil if they can bear to be with you for more than 10 mins. Doubtful

  • Song is chilling;

  • I miss Sinead w/ hair, but as someone who shaves his head, I know how nice it is to not worry about the hair.

  • Sorry, but she will always sound like on nothing compares to you. Pretty, but lalalalala

  • @TheChakamama

Listen to "The Last Day of Our Acquaintance" and I defy you to tell me Sinéad can't sing with BALLS.

  • Kill the Pope

  • OMG, might be the greatest duet ever.

  • Now THAT's a fucking great song!

  • I wonder whose farts smell worse, Shane McGowan's, the banjo player's, or Sinead O'Connor's.

  • @HumGuitar I garuntee to you that Tommy the banjoman (RIP) farts smelled awfull. Sineads of course smelled of roses lol...As for Shane's...Martini and lemonade!

  • @drummiedan Tommy died? I didn't know that. Surprising that Shane outlives any of these people.

  • Shane is the real fuckin POPE!

  • fucking great post! love these two together

  • sinead!!

  • Shane! You're the greatest!

  • God, you can really feel Sinead.

  • @deeptracy23 i did ^^ haha

  • this song makes my eyes well up... what a dynamic duo.

  • I like the softer version in the soundtrack, but this is good.

  • fantastique

  • this hits the heart, real goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

  • He is who he is - the best, and what a beautiful voice she has . A great pairing.

  • excellent stuff!!

  • Wow, how beautiful!

  • Sineads is a disease he career was over at this point after her famous incident, i see everyone writes about shane to knock him down but isnt it how he uses the words, writes the songs that counts whats looks got to do with anything people who say awww hes not good looking or doesn't dress well so bloody what people that think that are into all this manufactured pop crap. i mean lets think about it (quote from U2's lead singer BONO - I dont think anyone writes better lyrics than shane macgowan).

  • Poor Sinead. You can see it in her face that she's just waiting for Shane to fuck up. Just like a good Irish lass. Always living in fear of when the drunk gets home. Come on folks, let's not romanticize Shane. He is a very diseased man. My dad always said to me, "you think because you are Irish, you have to be a drunk". I think he was right.

  • @cracks21229 you must be an idiot, no? do you always go around calling people poor whether they feel so or not? That's really magnanimous of you. I can't see what you say I can. Furthermore, I can't see how being diseased should be any obstacle to becoming romanticized. Actually, it often helps.

  • @mmasny I don't romanticize the illness Shane has. I am not saying he isn't a talented writer, for certainly he is. But he is pathetic and that is the result of his illness.

  • @cracks21229 why don't you go moralize elsewhere. I don't think you could romanticize anything as you are a BORE!

  • @cracks21229 Way to re-write history!. O'Conner's song writing skills are non existent which is why she relies on publicity stunts (that backfire) and other people's material. Like Prince before him (Nothing Compares 2 U), Shane tossed her a bone (Haunted). Instead of thanking him, she goes a major radio program making wild claims about Shane being "near death". Blah, 15 yrs later, Shane's still here, writing and performing as O'Connor slips increasingly further into oblivion and irrelevance

  • they have so much chemistry on stage. it makes me wanna barf

  • @frizzlefrap Yawn.

  • For those that grew up in the eighties with such great music; what are we going to do with ourselves now? Sinead's appeal just get's stronger and the Pogues', well, what can you say, they were by far the best band around in the mid to late eighties.

  • this is my favourite song !

  • Her voice and mind is unique!

  • "all the girls asked ... what's he like, i said ..... MAN HIS BREATH SMELLS LIKE A BUFFALO FART, TIMES 100"! ..... wow, those lyrics really make ya want to cry!

  • Love The Pogues and Shane! Love Sinead!

But I think Shane butchered this song this go around. Sinead appears thrown off by his voice.

  • They both look so good here. I'm diggin' on his do.

  • Sinead has the loveliest eyes...

  • not a patch on the original

  • shane said she was a "look at me queen" and she should get over herself...

She did well in this song though

  • perfect.

  • shane is a legend. a great songwriter and should go down in history as such. had the pleasure to meet him and the pogues in the late 80's in glasgow. a night i will never forget. god bless you shane

  • stang shmang

  • I can't stang Sinead's music or her need to try to be rebelious. But damn, she was so dishy in this clip.

  • Ooh, the little lady should know her place? Feck off....

  • Just surprised that Shane`s still standing

  • Comment removed

  • sinead's eyes are sooooooo damn gorgeous...i love you sinead...2 pieces

  • OMG Shane McGowan FUCKING ROCKS

  • Comment removed

  • so does sinead

  • Teenage wasteland...

  • ????

  • @4evergreendayfan .... no, change the first and second letters in "rocks" ... to "su", then you'd be "RIGHT ON"!!!

  • this is pretty damn feking cool, love it !! thanks for da post !!

  • Sid and Nancy were fuck-ups,

and one of the truer love stories of the 20th century

  • yes, fuck-ups, but the love story was about them and heroin!

  • Damn that Sinead O'conner was a looker. I like this song but i think it's totally wrong for Sid and Nancy. They were a couple of fuck ups.

  • And God bless Tommy RIP Sadly missed...

  • Bjork, Gene and Lou Reed were also on the show...

  • why the fook is a radio station out fucking my listening pleasure here

  • Beautifully Haunting! Luv her!

  • I've always loved this song. I love the contrast between the harshness of Shane's voice and the absolute beauty of Sinead's.

  • @74jpm: as does everyone else who appreciates this song.

  • i love his voice....so original=]=]=]=]

  • no matter how bad it is iv never heard anyone say they hate it,gwan de shane haha

  • Two legends

  • i wanna be haunted by the ghost of Sinead's precious love...pure goddess!!

  • Too bad she's a nun eh?

  • 'Cept she's not. She was ordained by a fringe Catholic Church, not the Vatican, as a priest.

  • Pope is evil.

  • Wow. What a performance! ... I just had a moment watching that.

  • He still got his charms, but not his voice... however, Shane 4ever...

  • i love them both!

  • gowan shane!

  • It is so "unJesus" but where was Jesus in 1966 - 1967?

  • Great song , does anybody knows where I can see the song 'Donegal Express' Shane sang this song that day during the same broacast thanks.

  • Sinead appearing normal. What a change. She could have had a wonderful career, she had it all, looks, beauty and a magnificent voice. What happened to her??

  • Sinead told the truth, and people do not like truth. She still sings and well at that, I think she could give a toss about some career.

  • Sinead HAS a great career! She is a well respect musician and a great singer and she is recognised worldwide.

She is and was beautiful and there was never anything strange about her. She told the truth and kept her dignity.

  • Did I say something negative about her???

  • bang on

  • very beautiful Sinead and your voice is original, i love this song¡¡¡¡

  • it always seems that shane has the upper hand;)

  • i seen a ghost mmmmm im tired

  • well Rodnox you should probably buy new glasses. It's the POPES, not the Pogues, mate. Shane MacGowan split from the Pogues in 1991 and formed a new backing band called "The Popes".

  • Man, what the fuck is wrong with you????Who gives a shit. Whats wrong is siead was not impressed by shanes antics at this concert,.But fuck that, shane is and always will be the man.......................

  • I so love this song!

  • Looks like Sinead is holding an iPod XD

  • the popes haha :/

  • He is always Shane. Thats enough. Listen, observem learn. A famous bard.

  • is he allways drinking??

  • do bears shite in the woods

  • go on ye boy ye lol

  • Kind of ironic isn't it? She's on stage with the Popes, while at one time she was tearing up a picture of the Pope.

By the way, is that Jeff Lynne from ELO over on the right, playing the electric banjo?

    Just kidding.

  • Comment removed

  • Read my reply to Rodnox, this is the Popes, not the Pogues.

  • And it's not "The Pouges", it's "The Pogues", although this is neither, as HumGuitar has said..

  • Well Shane MacGowan was formerly touring with a Band called "The Popes". Since 1982 he is a Member of the Pouges (The name used to be "The Pogue Mahones" which is a english adaption of the irish phrase "póg mo thóin" meaning: Kiss my arse) and thats also the band playing in this video. So no controversial session here.

  • You need to watch it again. This is Shane MacGowan and the "POPES". I know what the Pogues look like, I saw them in concert, I was close enough to be spat upon by Spider Stacy and Shane MacGowan. This is not the Pogues. This is the Popes. The guy who introduces them at the beginning even says it's the Popes.

Anyway, I wasn't saying it was contoversial, I was just saying it was ironic.

  • It helps.:)

  • jUST READ A HORRIBLE COMMENT ON ANOTHER SITE ABOUT THIS TRACK!I CANT BELIVE PEOPLE REALLY FEEL LIKE THAT.. GO SHANE AND SINEAD!!! WE LIVE FOR THIS MUSIC!

  • perrfect.......

  • amazing! At his drunken best and her at her beautiful best.

  • Amazing. The rough and the smooth. It's the way their two voices work together on this live performance while they don't quite mesh on teh record.

    Beautiful.

  • I like this

  • o'connor is great but mcgowan is toper

  • ahhh... what should i say... womans :P

  • sinead looks soo sad! and shane kicks ass

    he is a god!

  • i think she got him arrested shortly after this after she caught him snorting heroin.

  • ya but they sang together last xmas

  • I know yeah, she got him arrested like 10 years ago, since then they've reconsiled there differences.

  • dats gud 2 hear.two great musical icons!

  • It's not out of sync, it depends what back-up you got. The Popes are not the best musicians u know..

  • both are out of sync. but i must say sinead's really lovely here

  • Shane MacGowan is the Irish Elvis

  • Beauty and the beast... for real :)

  • Is that Shane Embury on the far right?

  • sinead n shane savage portumna style

  • dam straight. this rocks. and u suck!

  • Is This song avaliable for download on the new INSTINCT Phone By Sprint.Ionly Owned CD For Nearly 15Years

  • I love this song so much, you can't diss on shane he is a fucking genius, anyways if you even like this song a little, he fucking wrote it so shut up.

  • they're great!! when was this recorded?

  • Shane's a genius...To smart for his own good!

  • ...i`m here in the streets...da-dam... thanks.

  • Beauty and the beast combining to make something truly remarkable.

  • He's got the poetry, and the burners, fuck everyone else

  • I second that!

  • Shame you say Shane is pitiful. Maybe he's not at his genius stage but he is still alive and not in rehab like most of the (to me) pitiful crap celebs out there now. Both Shane and Sinead are troubled, but talented. And this is one of the best collabarations (sp sorry can't spell) but beautiful

  • This is amazing. The two most talented Irish singers at that time going toe to toe. I miss Shane like this.

Wow! Shivers. Thanks for posting this.

  • That´s fifteen years ago, Sinead still had hair on her head and Shane still had teeth in his mouth, at one of his few sober appearances. That was long ago, he is a pitiful sight now.

  • pitiful? Its not like he spends his time sitting on a computer posting youtube comments.

Its a shame artists get cut down more than spineless internet critics.
