  • You're living proof at my finger tips is still the coolest line in any song

  • it's funny, the first time I listened to "Ocean Rain", this song kicked in and it was like, the world had changed....

  • incredible talent thanks ian from brazil your next show ...just a joke ....

  • Minimal...fragmented...not perfect...lingering....real....de-volved....cool...tense...diametrically opposed...conflict...resolution....harmony...peace....sublime....masterful....pure....refined....but intense....

  • Wow. I love this stripped down version!

  • Ian looks very excited.

  • this is a sound that may sound uneven and disorganized to the modern ear that is used to synthesized, fake, pop music, but to the true music enthusiast, this is beautiful. you go, ian mccool!

  • @GermanPeoplePerson

    You´re right man!

  • maped out the place where i planned to stay...;)

  • God, Mac was so frickin' BEAUTIFUL back then.

Can't wait to see them in May!

  • @olderockchick agreed

  • I found a bunch of my dads old cd's and put them on my iPod this is now my favourite song ever <3 <3

  • If you like this - then check out the 12" version - it's instrumental - very jazzy.

  • @moxie96 that episode is the reason I'm watching this video.

  • probably have not seen this video since it used to be on MTV before MTV dropped it's links to broadcast independant TV stations (mine was KTVU 2 Oakland) back in the mid 80's.

I still think of what Rik of the Young ones said in the episode "sick" : "that's it, I'm writing a letter!---Dear Echo..."

  • @moxie96 Dude you are the tits, a Young Ones reference. Awesome!

  • Wonderful video of Echo and the Bunnymen.

  • Echo and the Bunnymen are the SHIT they are amazing and cool and they sound amazing live :) <3

  • "i heard of this band but never listened until i saw Donnie Darko. i knew who it was instantly but never heard thier music. yes, i live under a rock. i really like thier music."

  • I met Ian..and he said " nice breasts.". :-D

  • some days are good, some days bad. Thankyou Dr Cheese when I want to see the real thing. I have loved this song forever. Rachel

  • What can you say simply Fantstic!!!!!!!

  • Awesome groovy version!!!

  • what teenage years were built upon...

  • Greatest band ever.

  • great fuck up version!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is froma a time when they actually made music and not noise.

  • They don't make music like this anymore.

  • Long live MAC!!!

  • What I love about this is it's whole honesty and rawness. It is just briliant, and Ian's voice echoes to me something that is so special to the world! He offers something about historical human life that no-one else ever talks about. To me it is about our new romantic and probably begininnig of human nature. Very passionate stuff!

  • Fucking art! Love this band...think they may have done a lil' too much nose candy, but they are still unreal and sublime!

  • :)))

  • pete - great knees.

  • 3:05 he sounded off

  • Because he was.

  • Thanks for uploading this video, so great!

    Cheers from London,

    The Firegazers

P.S. Visit our channel, enjoy our songs and videos

  • No, siberdia is not a member. Sorry I miswrote it the word should have been "Siberia" their latest album.

  • so so cooool.

  • the close up intro of the cello... ahhh gives me goose bumps!! this is a must see for any 80's music junkie!

la la la la la la la laaa laaa laaa laaaa laaaa

  • This live version is by far the best. Back in the days when everything was pop Echo stood out for its semi-acoustic approach in songs like this one. Real music for real people. Siberdia is a proof that they will go on for decades to come.

  • siberdia? is that a member of the band?

  • ehehhe I have this on "12

  • Music is a gift and EATB are GOLD.

  • they guys paved new roads...amazing live

  • Gotta love those drums!

  • Aw Hell yeah!!!

    Great version!!!

  • awesome band ,saw them live, audience all sitting ,says mac this aint a fucking school assembly you know. what a guy

  • happy 50th birthday Big Mac

  • My sister's friend met him once and said "Are you Ian Mc Bunnyman?"

He said "Yes, yes I am"

What a star. I love him

  • Hah, that's adorable.

  • @HarryUpHarry Only someone really cool could respond that way.

  • @HarryUpHarry Yeah, kids nowadays are really missing out "idolizing" unreachable international superstars instead of liking the "real deal"... A bit sad really.

  • @geezaweebrek Because in the 80s you had nothing better to do after coming home from school than to listen to the radio or play some records, maybe watch some MTV or read a book.

Nowadays everyone's so busy with gaming, phones, millions of things to do on Internet that music just isn't that big of a deal anymore

  • @girlie347 I agree with you, thanks for sharing your opinions with me :)

    The 80's were cool though.

  • @girlie347 or maybe rock'n'roll has come to the end of it's natural life - witness the dire state of music in the past decade.

  • @girlie347

sad, but true... i'm 1 of the rare people who still come home just to listen to much... after driving around listening to music ;-) TV bores me... music is my life!!!

  • Very good version. Mac's simple delivery is so appealing.

  • 1 of my favorite bands . try the brian jonestown massacre and radiohead

  • Kinda shit, like your trolling

  • Brian Jonestown Massacre is awesome, noob.

  • bunnymen, whoa? kinda weird

  • Love it now just as much as 20 some years ago!

  • My favorite song by them ever.

  • agree!

  • so fucking cool - unplugged!!! - i love this band!

  • I love this song, and I just love this video visually as well.

  • I have this on DVD.. why am I watching this on youtube???

  • i want those hands all over my body....what a dream he is to me....

  • This version is so much better than the sold studio version. I love how he sings it in the lives videos, so much more real and gives it a kick but this one is great too.

  • i'm 40. i have seen billions of videos in my time. this one is EXACTLY what a music video should be. set the band up in a nice location.

turn the cameras on. play the song. brilliant. best one i've ever seen.

  • Because they are the best band of ever!

  • i bet hes a littlt e bitchy bitch

  • @rimmel65 It's only taken you two years to reply :D

  • This sounds like an unplugged version.

  • BEAUTIFUL HANDS

  • Ocean Rain

Possibly the best album of the 1980s?

  • Maybe it is. However, what about The Queen Is Dead By The Smiths, The Stone Roses by The Stone roses, Pornography by The Cure, Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth, Murmur by R.E.M., & Apettite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses?

The 1980's are not as awful as many people think!

Well... Ocean Rain by Echo & The Bunnymen is a beautiful album, anyway! And this song is simply awesome! A master piece!

  • I have some Smiths albums, but not "The Queen is Dead"... yet. I don't have any Stone Roses or Sonic Youth. I have a few Cure albums, R.E.M., and not "Appetite"

I have to increase my collection, I know

My favorite REM album is "Lifes Rich Pageant"

  • Life's Rich Pageant is (IMO) the BEST REM album...some of their best work that noone remembers...I believe...these days...coyahoga..swan swan hummingbird

  • Same here... Fall on Me.... Hyena... Flowers of Guatamala (which features their BEST solo!!)

  • Beautiful version of my favorite Bunnymen song.

  • anyone know who's doing the rhythm guitar on this?

  • Good song!

  • love this version... all the while mac's smokin', lol awesome... ti-ti-ti-ti-tips...

  • the pioneers of "unplugged"....of everything...

  • mac's voice is wonderful on this...he is so fucking awesome.....unrequited love for 25+ years now!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting, great song, where they really 'at home'?? Long live EaTBM.

  • minus the hairstyles and whatnot of the 80's, i hope there'll be a resurgence of british bands like Echo, The Smiths, Lloyd Cole, etc. cos bands these days except for Suede and Oasis just don't have the it.

  • Worderful!

  • love it!

  • wuau!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • just so amazing...Ian is such a visionary..

  • mac unpretentious and bowieesque at the same time.check out copey + stroll on!

  • Anyone got the whole of this Play At Home documentary?

  • i've never seen this, thank you

  • I love this song, and I just love this video visually as well. I like the shot when he's sitting next to the stain glass window...

    I think it looks nice...

  • Cheese = Cool!

  • A good honest version, with dodgy McCulloch live vocals unairbrushed at the end. Let the rest of us try to do better, it's the talent and enthusiasm that shine through.

  • haven't seen this version,thanks

  • The 12 inch single has them doing All You Need Is Love from the same show. Anynoe got that as a post?

Mac is responsible for so many cof my crap haircuts in the 1980's

  • doctor cheese well done sir keep it going wheres the glastonbury recordings 1985

  • Cheese rocks again!
