we are going to be hearing a lot from this young lady and her trio of virtuoso musicians.
i occasionally tune in to austin city limits to catch their lineup usually consisting of acts and/or performers i've never heard before. basically, i find there are simply too many to follow nowadays. sarah's group are the best new musical performing artists i've heard in a very long time. they are SO MUCH better than this!! don't use this cut as a yardstick for measuring sarah's talent.
grammys? thats unlikely, grammys are nothing but a popularity contest, at least when it comes to the major categories...they are least about talent...there is no market for this type of performing...they will probably always remain local
you are aware she was nominated right? the category was best country instumental performance. she lost to Steve Wariner who is nothing to sneeze at. ur right about it being a popularity contest, at least in the major categories, but sometimes they get it right. in any case her music speaks for itself and to plenty of people. she'll have a Grammy or 2 on her mantle - mark my words.
no i wasnt aware, i call these categories "filler categories", most people arent even aware of how many categories for different genres there are...personally i find "best instrumental" anything a wasted category...
I have not seen these three together. Wow. Sarah its wonderful. I just know she'll continue to nurture her wonderful talent. I've been thrilled to see her oh so many times. I too look forward to the album!
What I like -- besides the bluesy feel -- is the fact that the players are young. Acoustic music has some living greats (including Sam's dad, David) but it's great to see a younger generation discovering the joys of a mandolin chop, a well-sawed fiddle, and a thumping bass line. I look forward to your upcoming album, Miss Sarah.

@abbnerd It´s a Collings MF-5. ("Collins" without a "g" is the name of a very cheap brand...)

Those three are great musicians. Ms. Jarosz is one of the best mandolin players I know of. And that Alex Hargreaves is one great fiddler!
