how big's ur floats? ik theyre from hobbyzone but i can never get the dimensions :/ im trying same idea, but with 710 cm foamie floats from seaplane supply, water rudder on the right pontoon, mounted with aluminum rod, and powered by e-flite power 10, 40 amp esc with disabled bec and a RX battery, around 1190 grams, any tip on flying this bird on water?
i just put floats on mine haha great idea. what i did for my cg is cheack it on the wing and then lined up the step in the floats with the planes cg and i did not have to trim at all. but on landing i dunked it because i did not have enough throttle and ened up upside dont and burning out the battery and the esc. ididnt care because thats the risk but o yea a great idea thanks man love the tube vids keep em comin
What you want to do on landings is have about 10-15% throtle on and lightly land. Keep the nose level with the water and once you get the floats about barley touching the water you let off. Always keep the nose level to stop the bouncing
hey just wondering what battery your running and how are you mounting it in there so its balenced i got 2250 45 cell i had lying around so i want toput them in it so if you could give me some ideas that would be great
@referfag Just move forward or backwords a bit until it is balanced :) I use mostly 1800mAh in mine, and just put a little back compared to the 1300mAh.
@Vik13vik heh :) Yeah, having this pond is great now! Only got float planes this year but it is really fun! I also will probably get a boat or two soon :)
Nice job! that was really cool, takes some good skill to land like that last landing! Great flying too, looks like it worked pretty good with the floats! anyway great video as usual.
@ramis182 Thanks :) After flying it some I have landed bad a few times also ;p After one ESC fried, I changed the ESC position so inverted landings won't get them wet(planes floats pretty well/high inverted in the water).
That was mental mate, for some reason i didn't think it was going to work aswell as it did so 10 out of 10 for trying it and for flying it so well on the maiden flight with floats ;-) 5*

On floats you may need a more aggressive prop to make up for the extra weight and drag. Maybe 1 inch more in eiter diameter or pitch, just a guess
