OK, this video did suck balls. BUT...there is a prequel to the Thing currently in post-production. It takes place at the Norwegian camp, and I've heard that they are going to try to replicate the original special effects as much as possible to maintain the original atmosphere. I hope thats true; most remakes (although this wouldnt technically be a remake) completely obliterate the feel of the originals.

There is a "sequel" to The Thing, but it's not a movie. I was actually playing the "sequel" on the PS2 about two hours ago. While it keeps many of the elements from the movie, the fact that it was a video game made 20 years after the movie, it is nowhere near as good, and isn't really all that scary. It is an interesting play though.

I thought the 1981 version was a remake, ALTHOUGH the film footage that the crew find of the Norweigans in a huge circle in the snow( the actual spacecraft in the original movie). Then I began to think perhaps it was a sequel but with the same name. For the most part I think it is a remake with a MUCH improved and scarier monster. The original looked too human and was James Arness from Gunsmoke fame
