I agree with you, white tigers must be protected, and the best way is to STOP their suffering once and for all by stopping inbreeding. Usually white tigers die young and the reason why there aren't any white tigers in the wild is that they wouldn't survive as their fur is white. The one white tiger that was found was probably also born by inbreeding. Hard to tell as no-one knows the truth :P

White tiger is not an actual species. They found one white tiger and they used it to create more with normal, orange tigers. The only way to "help" these animals (by that I mean normal tigers) is to stop inbreeding tigers. All the white tigers are inbred and that causes terrible side effects to them :(

I believe white tigers should produce by themselves, not with help from humanity. After heavy research I found out they are in fact a natural creature because records in history say a king in India had a white tiger that was caught in the wild, they were much rarer back then, their more numerous due to the forced breeding, but the offspring are becoming more and more degrated(Sorry if I spelled that wrong).

Wwhite tigers are not a sub species, they are a genetic deformity caused by inbreeding...the reason there are not many in the wild is, that very rarely do they mate with close relatives. Most of them are in captivity because they do not have the proper camouflage to hunt in the wild. These tigers very often have health issues. I do agree with everyone that they are beautiful, but we should not be encouraging the breeding of white tigers.

White tigers may be beautiful but the truth is they would not survive in the wild. It's a shame that people are abusing these poor creatures, breeding them just so that they get a pretty tiger that people want to see. The animals are sick. In order to keep them that white color there is alot of inbreeding and many of the cubs just die. You can give me a thumbs down for this if you want but the breeding of white tigers is too ugly to be justified by our obsession with their beauty.

There is an 80% mortality rate for white tigers for this reason. They also suffer from deformities and mental impairments, as well as birth defects. Would it be worth living in a zoo, to get to live 2x as long? Hmm... a zoo is a cage, and people watch me and feed me... but will I still get internet?

I fancy myself a 'big cat', but I'm only about 6 feet long and 175 lbs, so any 500 pound tiger is purfectly cataclysmic. With tigers I'm repectful and quite color blind.

And so people watch lady Jadee, but we feed her only affection and never want to cage her. She is usually very FREE, just like I'd wish for those white tigers and me! (^.^)

No offense guys - let's keep some perspective here. All domestic dog and cat variations were created by humans through selective breeding. No doubt many dubious experiments contributed to producing the stable breeds we recognize today.The American Kennel Club has many strange "rules" - e.g. Harlequin Great Danes which are spotted (brown or black) on a white background. If pups are born with a grey background - it is recommended they be euthanized. Hmmmmm......

none taken.. unfortunately the demand for white tigers is such that orange tiger cubs are often destroyed because they wont fetch as much money as their upkeep requires. The health of these white tigers also suffers as a result of their breeding programmes.. it's impossible to consistantly breed a recessive gene such as this without resorting to inbreeding. And so i would say that doing such things for our own entertainement is pretty wrong..

I was a little worried you were going to start going on about how we should preserve the white tiger, but I realized it's actually about losing tigers in general. You guys should know that ALL captive white tigers are severely inbred, hybrid bengal-siberian crosses. All are cross eyed (I'm not saying this meanly, it's true and very sad). To get one ehalthy looking white tiger 30-60 tigers are killed or discarded, for being born orange or having horrific deformaties common to the inbred white tiger population.
