  • I would like to push you to the ground and beat on your chest yelling, "House on fire, house on fire! Put it out, put it out!"

Then I would force you to drink anti-freeze until you pass out.

Then you would wake up in excruciating pain with a size 7 poop chute.

  • the skirts or elongated shirt, strings and shoes are all Vlach costume - Romanian, and shared by related Albanians. Theese guardsmen are still beeing recruited among the tallest people of Greece. That means members of the Romanian Vlachs or Albanian Arvanites minorities.

  • @ADiamandi Τι λες βρε κάφρε..

  • gay parade? they look hmmmm girly

  • karneval in greece xD

  • Lord Byron, in Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, observed the "...Albanian kirtled to the knee", and T.S. Finlay in his Travels through Greece and Albania states, unequivocally, that "It was the fame of the Albanians which induced the modern Greeks to adopt the Albanian kilt as their national costume."

Video of Greek Historians talking about Albanians and these costumes:

  • "...The Koundouriotis family, which produced the first president of the Greek Republic, was Albanian, like many of Idra's settlers, who fled here from the Turks in the 15th century. Despite popular mistrust of the Albanians today in the face of a new wave of immigration, elements of Albania have penetrated Greek culture: the foustenella or kilt that's a part of the formal attire if Greek soldiers is based on the Albanian fighting gear, and is sometimes referred to as the "Albanian Kilt".

"..The rich Hydriote ship-owner, Conduriottis, held the title of President of Greece. He was an Albanian, unable to speak Greek. And so the leaders of both armies in the war came, as did many of the fighting men, from that violent illiterate race who had not yet learned to prefer nationalism to other loyalties"

"..It was probably at this time that the Albanian dress made its decisive step towards being regarded as the national dress of Greece. The Government party, being largely Albanians themselves, favoured the dress and a version of it was common among the Greek "klephts" and "armatoli". Now it seemed that anyone who donned an Albanian dress could claim to be a soldier and share in the bonanza"

  • O wow, what have you done to our fustanella....you have turned it into a skirt lol

The costumes that we see here are an Albanian adoption. The red cap, etc were worn by Albanians or Arvanites as called by Greeks who played a major role in 1800's in the fight for Independence in the territory. Marko Boçari, suliot tribe, etc..

Now they march through the streets and shout and curse Albanians lol while they have our costumes as a national characteristic.

  • @FALCON131001 I don't care about your opinion...I'm just stating the truth about these costumes and how and why they came to be a national trait of Greece.

What does Greece have besides these Albanian costumes I see here???

National Funds received by International community to prevent it from failing. The country is build on dept it cannot repay. Should we do the same?

  • @Bardh87 Yeah yeah yeah keep talking :D

  • @Bardh87 u re retarted as hell my friend...

  • @MRfoititis Prove me wrong.

  • Hahaha... that has got to be the looniest marching Ive ever seen! But bravo to these men and women. Theyre serving their country with honour.

  • The problem for some people is that Greece has plenty of history and traditions to spare. Greek people have contribute to world civilization from the beginning oh humankind. This is creating jealousy among people from countries without any contribution to civilization. They are trying always to appropriate parts of the Greek history and heritage to make them feel in some way that really their countries are worth something. Sorry you are not Greeks just cheap bastards.

  • men in frock, why r they stomping strangely???

  • Big lads aren't they ? Flippin massive !

  • A great video, very proud military men and women.i Like their style. Can anyone tell me history behind their uniform??? respect from scotland.

  • @bluenose4344 it was the "uniform" back in 1821 when we started killing the Ottoman Empire....

  • @SuperUltraviolence This is not a uniform, this is skirttttt. Ahaha. SO gay. I dont expect more from agayreek. Skirts r just fine for u.

  • @yilmaz196 skirts where unisex and both men and women wore them until about 150 years ago, when pants where discovered.Pants where invented as a cloth specialized for horse riding.Because mostly men rode horses, people came to use that only men where pants, but that's just 100 or 200 years old. These skirts evzonoi wear are older, from a time skirts where unisex.

  • @bluenose4344 This is the traditional wear of the Greek thiefs and bandits, then rebels, during the war of 1821 against the Ottoman empire. The individual is known as "tsolias", and the Greek presidential garrison is still wearing it as a tribute. You may also see traditional dancers wearing this outfit. It has many features in common with the Scottish traditional outfit. But hey, clothes are not the only thing we two have in common, judging by your history! Greetings from Greece!!!:)

  • ειναι βαρια ταρχιδια του τσολια

  • Great video. Can't wait to back to Greece one summer.

  • but this is just their march dress,

in wartime they wear proudly their expensive evening dress.

  • @TurkishNationalism we really want to look like you :) this march dress u saying must remind you a lot ... 1821 u know better =D

  • hahahahah

  • You are laughing now turk, but you know very well these outfits are soaked with turkish blood...

  • @Supermagos9 Bravo Sas - well said - polli kala ta ipate sta skoupidia tis oikoumenis -

Unfortunately the Greek sites are contaminated with the presence of uneducated, uncivilized Neanderthals who only prove they are the "pit of humanity" as evidenced by their cultures, still living like primitive savages........

We Greeks have every reason to stand tall and be the proudest people on this earth!!! Too bad, you were born into the race and cultures you obviously HATE!!

    Say what you like!

  • @TheaAthena I notice this about "contamination" of Greek videos. The nationalistic hatred of some people is absolutely ridiculous.... This is a beautiful ceremony and tradition, and it makes me very proud indeed.

  • @nojyt Eisaste Ellinas? Are you Greek? I normally don't post in response to all these comments but,,,sometimes you do! As a Greek I know there is no culture or people that can "hold a candle" (as they say in the U.S.) to that of the history and civilization of Ellas - no matter what! However, one must also be very well informed, and educated to truly recognize this truth!

    Athena

  • @TheaAthena Yes, I am Greek. I think part of the problem with our neighbours is they see the enormity of Greek history, they see that they now live in lands where Greeks once lived (and sometimes still do), and all this makes them feel subconsciously threatened. It's something we Greeks would do well to think about. Sometimes our pride touches others the wrong way. But this is no reason for us to stop being proud, or to change any of our customs to appease others. :)

  • @nojyt You know, as a Greek, we grew up amidst daily conversations re history, war, stories, etc. It is in our culture and blood I suppose. Furthermore, my parents made sure they educated us, from a young age, as to the reality of our Greek heritage and for that I am so grateful. Greece has been screwed again and again and again by the powers that be; the Americans, the FREAKING BRITISH schmucks and, it was little Ellas, who held back the Germans while the U.S. readied itself!!!!!!!! Athena

  • @TheaAthena Agreed, many countries have used Greece as a pawn, and to some degree it continues. Of course, there is an old grain sack in my house stamped "Donated by the people of the USA" (ca. 1948) that proves the relationship is not always bad (although I would take poverty over the Dekemvriana ANY day....)

Ultimately, we have to keep working to build the Greece we want, and ignore those who would do us harm. Our ridiculously massive history tells me that time is always on our side. :o)

  • @nojyt In closing, I'm afraid I am not on the intellectual level needed to discuss or debate the issue properly. However, my Brother Demetrios has a Ph.D in Political Science and history/politics are his life. One of my biggest pleasures is to be among a group of Greeks on that level and listen to such wonderful debate on a variety of subjects including religion vs ancient Greek religion, etc. What an experience!

I have enjoyed our little tete-a-tete - be well, my Greek friend - Athena

  • @TheaAthena Thank you Athena, I too have enjoyed our brief conversation! You are very modest; I suspect you know more than you give yourself credit for. Keep discussing and thinking about the "big issues" of our world with your brother, because there are enough mindless people around. ;o)

  • @TheaAthena you have big tongue from the security of the US you live. If you knew the dangers that threat this small coutry you would be more carefull. We are a nation with more than 5000 years history. Durring this long time there are bad moments and good momments. Victories and loses. This is how the life goes.

  • @TheaAthena I am reminded of the movie 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin' when the Italian military wanted the village leaders to surrender and were told to 'fuck off'. The elders decided to surrender to a 'German officer of significant rank' and when it was only a Wermacht Captain, they surrendered anyways saying that it was preferable to surrender to the German Captain's dog than to an Italian. For this kind of attitude, this Texan loves the Greeks. May they always be strong. God bless them all.

  • @bear75056 Dear Bear: Many thanks for your warm and generous remarks. I am in the U.S. and we both know what is happening in our country here. I too, admire Texas for its ability to stand its ground on so many issues that are destroying the USA today. I have seen the film you mentioned a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bear in mind it only gives a scant clue as to what poor little Greece did in that war - Be well my philHellene friend!

  • @bear75056 Actually the truth is that they may have hoped to at least kill a general as they die, but when they saw that only a captain was available they dumped the plan. I know, cause I am Greek and that is what I would have done :)

  • @TheaAthena What kind of proudness you fucking asshole?

First of all your GUard is wearing Albanian Fustanella!

  • @TheValmirZz ΚΑΛΗ Η ΜΑΛΑΚΙΑ ΣΟΥ ΑΛΒΑΝΕ.ΓΕΛΑΣΑΜΕ

  • @TheaAthena God bless Greece and Greeks all. My heart is with you.
