after watching a number of seasons of Project Runway, I got curious about the techniques the designers were using. I saw them taping and draping, etc., but never really knew how it all fit together. Your video is very clear and filled with useful information. I feel like I already understand so much more about the process just by watching this two-part video. You're a very good teacher and made it all very clear. Thanks!
I'm a self taught designer and have been making clothes for many years but I was never able to learn how to drape muslin. You're a great teacher. Thank you so much for this video. It has been very helpful to me, I am headed to my sewing room now to design a top. :) Do you offer classes?
Hi Susan, great vid. I would love to see you do 'trueing'. I really like to see an up-close explaination of how to transfer the drape to the paper. I would also like to know how to transfer to my fabric. Thanks! (smile)
I love your videos. But I have a dumb question--what happens when the sloper is done and taken off the mannequin? Do you lay the sloper on fashion fabric or paper and cut, etc? Nobody ever shows that.
I love your clear, direct and flexible teaching method. I hope that you will post the continuation of the completion of this drape, showing how to translate from muslin to finished pattern and cut onto desired fabric.
Ps: i think your on your way to becoming a youtube "how to" Star.
You're awesome. This is the best video demonstration I have found on Youtube yet. I've subscribe to your channel and Iook forward to seeing more from you. Thank you so much for that tutorial.
It is very good to discover someone trying to pass on such useful basic information,
without unnecessary complications.
I wish you luck in your efforts; the skills are very nearly lost, since the industry has been let go off shore to low wage countries and computers are being pushed as the way forward.
Manual Patterncutting and Draping are the best way to create original designs.
This is great, thank you so much! I am so happy to learn about design (I have only sewn from patterns in the past). I wish that the quality of the video was a bit better (maybe higher pixels?), it is sometimes difficult to see what you are doing due to the graininess of the video (it makes little squares appear on the video). Anyway, I am still very happy that you made these demos for us!
@metronomic1 Thank you for your praise and response. This was a very quick demo. I promise to make more detailed demos real soon. Learning the basics are very important, then after that skies the limit. I currently teach a fashion design course in the Miami area. Keep posted... Best, Susan

your video is great, but I don't know how to transition onto my actual fabric. I know this may sound like a stupid question but I'm new to this....
