You think he can't survive a few grenade explosions, remember, in the mission SOG Mason gets in a fist fight with that VC dude and he pulls a pin on one of the grenades on his belt. The grenade goes off with Mason like 10 feet from it. Now remember Woods fell like 5 feet into tall grass, plus he had a bullet proof vest on. And even if he was supposed to die, look at how many people love him, so Treyarch had to have brought him back.

I think when woods and khrevchenko fell, woods let go of the knife and khrevchenko and somehow grabbed onto the wall and climbed his way back up. By the time he got up, mason was gone and the Vietcong came in and found him! They then took woods to the Hanoi Hilton and interrogated him and kept him there for years! I sincerely hope that treyarch makes a black ops 2!

@killer12227 Well, I honestly don't think that if they did make a Black Ops 2, it wouldn't just be about Woods, Mason, Hudson, and Weaver. It might feature them, but I think that since it's just about 1980 in the intel, it could focus on growing tensions in China and North Korea.

There's also that whited out name in the intel talking about a certain group leader that was sent to go after Mason, Hudson, and Weaver in South Africa. You never know, it could be about him chasing the trio.

Further to the point, if Mason imagines the death but it didn't really happen, why is someone sending a text to say that it didn't? The only reasons are 1) Mr. X really, really, really cares about Woods and Mason's friendship and really wants Mason to know his location (unlikely) or 2) the text is a fake and was sent by someone with knowledge of Mason's hallucinations (probable).

Also, during the flashback in Revelations, when Mason is advancing with Reznov into the bunker/prison. There are no enemies, and the flashbacks are supposed to be showing you what was really there. It is also possible that Woods could have survived the explosion. After Kravtchenko dove through the window, Woods could have pushed himself off of him and landed a safe enough distance to survive the explosion.

Truth is, woods was never there. Woods left to escort the POW's to safety, they were shortly afterwards captured by a squad of NVA/Spestnaz. After Mason freed the POW's and went on, Woods says "Mason, where the fuck are you going..." He says this when you wander off in other missions. It's also possible that he never killed Kravtchenko either. Also, Kravtchenko probably couldn't break through that glass since it was thick and bullet proff. Woods was sent to then labor camp in Hanoi.
