How to fix an IPod with Corrupted files in Windows

I have had my classic for over four years now and last night I get this corrupted iPod bullshit. All the music is still in there but it won't show up. I really don't want to restore and erase 5000+ songs. Is there any way to back it up first?

dude, that worked. i do not use windows; i'm on a Mac OS X (10.6.8) but when i went into disk mode, i was able to finally eject the iPod properly and when I then restarted iTunes, it saw the iPod and I was able to restore. This is a great fix because I restored it *before* and it made the situation worse; iTunes went from recognizing the iPod to no longer recognizing the iPod. Going into disk mode reset something. Thanks very very much!

Hello, I hope you could help. So I went to sync my Ipod 8gb to Itunes, says it is corrupted and I should restore it. I click restore. When it's all said and done the same message pops back on. "Your Ipod is corrupted you should restore it." Restored the Ipod 5 times already. What should I do? Prior to restoring it the first time the ipod had songs in it and was perfectly fine. Please help. @ComplicatedGaming Are you using a pc or a mac? If you are using a pc, go into my computer and reformat the disk. When the options window for formatting pops up click restore device defaults. Then BEFORE you click restore UNCHECK the quick format button. Now you can click restore. It may take a couple of hours to restore, but it worked for mine. The quick format does not work.

Whenever I plug my IPOD into the computer windows pulls up a message asking me if I want to Scan and Fix the ipod, then itunes would show up behind it and like half way sync, then my ipod would just keep connecting and disconnecting. I think its the cord, can anyone help?

Tank you for your help.. Another advice is that the anti virus (I have McAfee) freezes the itunes when it issyncronizing. Deactivate the anti-virus when you perform the restores and resync.
