the story is just amazing, in gothic 1,2 and 3...i just agree in everything with you.

im 20 years old so i am not used to play low grafic games. that's why it's a little dificult for me to play gothic 1 or 2 again.. but i have finished gothic 3 for about 13 or 14 times.. and still not bored.. that 's just how much you can explor this game..

great lp dude by the way you asked me a question some time ago well my answer is yes i played all 3 gothic games favorite gothic 1 becouse of atmosfhere and that fell world is prison and we are prisoners gothic 2 in my opinion werry good sequel gothic 3 the werry first version my first was WTF HAPPENED but after community patch and questpacket it is also a good game

@lolxxWoWxxlol Thanks, mate! I just turned the brightness up a bit, because I already knew that videos turn out darker than they were before when being uploaded on YouTube.

I'll played this game for an entire summer, when i was young, and I think that it is the best game of the series. I finished it 4 times =D I totally agree with you for the atmosphere and the soundtrack.

I have to get this game. I'm tired of the mindless linear "action rpgs". Are there any other good rpgs like this?

@jc2753 'Like this' are only Gothic 1 and Risen. Other than that, The Witcher is rather non-linear, but with a heavy emphasis on fighting. I don't know much about the Elder Scrolls series, but I bet some of the fanboys will tell you that Skyrim is the best RPG ever^^.

@CptGreenbear Skyrim feels an action adventure game. The character's skills system is poorly designed. You know how your character's skills limit what your character can and can't do so you were able to play a role? That doesn't exist in Skyrim. In Skyrim, you can be a mage/warrior/thief/assassin/ar­cher/etc all at the same time. You're basically God. My character can be a dumb brute but yet is able to read spell books, ritual tablets and decipher them as if he was a scholar. Stupid.

@CptGreenbear im not gonna lie as an elder scrolls fanboy i love skyrim but ill be the first to admit that it is really dumbed down compared to this. but its hugely open, the combat is fun, and if you give it an hour itll suck up 10 more with it. one of my favorites

@jc2753 dragon age origins is one of the best rpgs ever, same thing with fallout 3, dragon age 2 isn't as good as the first part - but its still worth buyin n playin... skyrim seems to be a very good game as well and of course the witcher

@AssassinsHunter I got Dragon Age Origins and it's excellent =) It's a shame that Bioware felt the need to streamline Dragon Age 2 to appeal to a bigger audience. It's a decent game but not a rpg. I have the The Witcher 2 but I haven't spend any time on it yet. If I like it, I'll pick up The Witcher.

I saw all Gothic 2 walkthroughs on youtube and I dare to say that your is one of better on youtube,with a llittle bit of commentary and a little bit of humor I think that a lot of people are gonna enjoy this walkthrough

The game just has a great deal of charm, and holds a special place in my little gamer heart. ;)

I can honestly turn the game on and leave the ambient sounds going on in the background and it is just so relaxing to me. Very nostalgic and delightful.

finaly a gothic 2 LP.......most of them are gothic 2 night of the raven...........but.....yeah the addon is preety entertayning.......but its not as good as gothic 2......im lookin foward to this LP ....keep up the good job ;)

One of the best games ever, still the gothic 4 (arcania) was taken by jowood and its a complete joke, its just made to fit the easy gamers

oh well...never saw a play through of the original game....most people do the add on...you should get it....only a small hint...you have to restart the game after you install it....also in g1 if you bait the cultist away from callom and then attack him you dont awake the sleeper :D...and the golden rule of gothic is....there are no goof or bad factions...every decision you take is grayed...

@CptGreenbear the add-on is fun if you've played through Gothic II a thousand times like myself, it provides a nice extra challenge and a nice extra bit of story and quests, but for the rest, it also makes the game MUCH harder, so it's just a matter of which one is more important to you to compensate for the other, anyway, great first part, you did a great job on the explaining :) looking forward to the rest of the LP!

Your one dislike of Gothic II is also one of my major gripes about the game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I really didn't appreciate the main story being shoved into my face the moment I started playing, especially in a game with an open world design. It makes me feel obligated to play through the story, and without the aid of a modification to change how the game begins, it's hard for me to get sucked into it. Looking forward to this, though. I liked Gothic II, but I never beat it.

@SubTonic Exactly! That's the main reason why I never continued playing Oblivion. It all felt so scripted and I felt so helpless when the Emperor was murdered right in front of me... I even replayed the beginning multiple times, trying to save him... just to figure out that was how the game is supposed to start.
