i think castles of that time are magnificent. imagine the hard work put into building the castles, the years it took and all the rescources. i think that the history seen in castles is amazing
Portugal was the first country in Europe where the Templars settled (in 1128), so it has been the last to preserve any remnant of that order. The order was suppressed (1312) by Pope Clement V. King Diniz, who then ruled Portugal, instituted a new order, under the name of Christi Militia (1317) The Knights of Christ however meaning thecontinuation in Portugal of the Order of the Temple. As for your question, yes I am a member of the Knights of Christ Order.
I think the Templars have lived on in history beyond what they possibly believed. What an awsome legacy they leave in this and other castles. Makes you wish you were there during their time.
First of all, thank you for the comment. Yes, I know what you mean and you're right. As for the castles, you couldn't have described it better for it's the way it feels whenever I visit this place, a strange connection however so full of memories telling about those days forever lost in the mist of time, it's like home to me. Greetings from Portugal.
Sir, I honestly don't know what you're doubting about. Although I respect your opinion, I definitely don't feel compelled to accept it. Whether you believe it or not, this a subject that concerns to me, to my ancestors and to my country which History has been written for over 9 centuries. Any way, thank you for your kind comment.
Incredible good job. I love the music chant you used for this presentation. Ever heard of ENIGMA? If not check them out. Their music might be something you´d like.
Thank you DJHughMan. Your comment tells me so much about your soul, if you only knew my friend. Only a few could feel it the way you do and yes, what those walls have seen is beyond imagination. This castle is my priceless jewel, my heart and soul, my home... once again, thank you. Greetings from Portugal. Luis Ayres

Was built and belonged to the Templar Order as many others in that same region. What is the problem? Why you not make a visit?
Came to Almourol, Tomar etc.

Governments are only building stony walls as frontiers in our mind without remaining in the true and real heritage. Kind regards from Austria, Uli.
