  • can't hear the sound...

  • Harry is 83 now, just delivered a passionate and detailed anti-war speech at Saturday’s "One Nation Working Together" in Washington. On today's Democracy Now, 4 October 2010.

Check him out. Inspired and inspiring.

He seemed to be delivering this hot speech without notes!

  • Go Mr B!! And Happy Birthday Martin!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this vid !

  • Nothing you wrote here is either secret or unknown - and none of it matters a damned bit. Communists? Are you for real? Or did you miss the part about McCarthy and his crypto-fascists inventing tons of lies and "evidence" with their boy Hoover the crossdresser? FBI files? Again, are you serious? They've been a tool for US near-Nazis since they started and need to be watched a hell of a lot more closely than the comic opera US communists.

  • Well, in 500 characters we can't fully express the point.McCarthy was a closeted gay and Hoover as noted - but an assessment of their importance (good or bad) does not depend on their personal failings - nor does MLK's. And note that I did not deny - quite the opposite - my 1st sentence. The US is in far more danger from the neo-fascists of the FBI, CIA, and right wing. Look to restrain them from destroying what King and others built up in this country,

  • I did not know he had such a beautiful voice.......it very soft & wonderful.

  • there is a wonderful version of the banana boat song upon the same DVD, would you be so kind to post it - I miss it

  • oh,how his voice has touched me...all my life...Love,Evelyn

  • I'll sing for you Sweet Martin Luther King, al so to you dear Harry Belafonte.

    Long Live!

  • I first got to hear Harry Belafonte sing "Hole in the bucket" with Odetta on Sri Lankan radio, but had the opportunity to listen to his Carngie Hall Concerts when I was working at the RCA Rcords outlet in Colombo, it was awesome!

It was the first ever live recording in the industry and his power to move the audiences was unbelievable.

"Matilda" he gets the audiences to sing along was sensational. He also introduced to the West great artists like Mariam Makeeba, Nana Mouskouri.

  • ha ha ha hha , hear me out guys , ha ha ha when i was young i thought that must be singing like a man close to monkeys or something , really i was like 6 or 7 , i grew up in yugoslavia , behind iron curtain , it was like something to remember for fun for me, just something methioning the banana and it was cool.NOW ,I JUST REALIZED WHAT I MISSED , IM 37 NOW.MOTHERFUCKERS STOLE MY NOT ONLY LIFE BUT WHOLE LIFE , MOTHERFUCKING COMUNISTS SHIT HOLES CRAP OF HUMANS BUSTARDS .

  • for the younger generation in here I need to say that Harry Belafonte is one of the greatest and still living performers of the last century. No scandals, no bad headlines, just serious living and helping others in their needs, thats him...... wish I could meet him once more before I have to go....

  • if thats true , thats my values , does he have any ofsprings ? he he he ? id like to carry on the spirit . dean martin was my role model when i came home drunk , just for me , i knew others would laugh at me ., always thought high of samy davis junior and dean martin , held it for my self for years,

  • is harry a foreigner?

  • what do u mean by 'foreigner'.do u mean like an alien,UFO or what? I think he is a distingushed member of the human race who has made his mark and affected lives. His color or creed not withstanding.

  • No fricking kidding! WELL PUT!!!

  • He was born in New York, but spent part of his childhood in Jamaica and it left him with a distinctive accent.

  • To answer your question, you must first describe what kind of creature your are.

  • He's kinda like Obama.
