@jordanthecat Same here. I found John Prine fall of '73 and it was a perfect fit. I had been playing guitar a while but not musically talented. Then John Prine revealed what I had been missing. His music, his words, his heart. Dylan (called him the best songwriter on the scene) and Prine were all I ever needed.
When I'd play one of his songs (espec. Sam Stone or (surprise) Christmas In Prison, some one person would always say, "who is that??". That must have happened so many times across the usa and the world since. What a great legacy and an eternal gift. God Bless John Prine (and Steve Goodman, and Johnny Cash, RIP.)

I've watched this a million times. Sitting in the backyard of your boyhood home with a good friend, drinking a few beers and playing some good music. How lucky can one man get?
first heard JP at Constitution Hall in DC in the early 70s - he was opening for John Sebastian and after 5 minutes with John Prine no one cared if john Sebastian ever came out on stage -never will forget it
Prime Prine is the first album of his I bought, loved every song on that album, just love listening to his songs of good ole homegrown family life and living.
i first heard john when i was14. my dad's buddy who drinks alot left prime prine in the cassette deck of his boat radio which was unfloatable, and it played over and over for at least 24 hours. i think the fire went out before the tape came out. i was hooked and the music i learned on the acoustic and the records i bought from there on reflect to this day the greatness that isprine. i'm from southern ohio and met a girl from detroit. when i met her dad i found he was a big prine fan.good family
"Prime Prine" was a great way of introducing yourself to his music! I learned to play guitar by listening to his records and in recent years tried to thank him for that, but I don't think my message ever actually reached him.
So true. A buddy of mine, a die-hard Stones and AC/DC fan, listened to a Prine CD I'd burned for him a number of years ago, and has since become a huge John Prine fan.
I CAN WATCH THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN! THIS IS ANOTHER ONE I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR HIM DO NOW. nOW THAT "ANOTHER THIRTY" IS ALMOST HERE. I WILL BUY THE DVD FOR THIS ONE SONG.
I've seen John in concert many times over the years, but I don't recall ever hearing him play this song. I can't understand why really, because it's such a great song.
We watched the DVD on Friday night and it's full of great material like this. Come to think of it, this is the first copyrighted video I've ever uploaded- I hope Youtube doesn't kick my ass to the curb as a result.
thanks for finding this classic vid!

It is on the album called Pink Cadillac. Kind of of a rockabilly album released in 79 I think.

Thanks for making that decision, John. Thirty years later, we all still love ya.

The caption says 1980, but when was this video made? I think earlier than 1980. Reminds me of my friends back in the day .

A truly amazing song. I watched this about 100 times, with no exaggeration. Another Prine song to play, just wish I could pick.

I wish I could pick like John Burns, who plays lead in this video.

Go, John and Johnny!
Johnny Burns, son of Jethro Burns and nephew of Chet Atkins. What a major talent! From Evanston, of course!

I've done a bit of searching and don't know the answer to this question: what ever happened to this talented guitarist?
jordanthecat 3 years ago
I just talked to John - he's moved to Albequrque, New Mexico - you'll find him on MySpace as Johnny Burns, Albequerque...still great!

Jethro Burns' son. He can sure play.

You might be okay with John Prine stuff. I've seen a LOT of footage on Youtube with him and so far, so good.
Is the whole DVD John Prine? I may have to buy it. (See, you helped promote the DVD!)
