While I really apprectiate Jack White, this rendition doesn't even come close to the original. I can't tell you how many Dylan skeptics I've turned on to Bob via Isis (Dylan's Desire version, that is).
@MrRobbieboy74 For some people, it never takes. No matter how matter how much you proselytize or how many songs you play. I've been married for over ten years and my wife has heard Dylan thousands of times, but still...she is locked into that god-damned contemporary country music and I can't seem to light the Dylan flame in her.
@seans10 I hear you! I wasn't a fan at all, but my ex saturated me, dragged me to 3 concerts. Since I hated him - my ex - I was reluctant to be assuaged. But after many years away from him - after coming to Dylan at my own pace, by choice - my eyes and heart have been opened. His love songs are so powerful. His lyrics, unbeatable. His work with "The Band" fun and meaningful. I wouldn't say I'm a "huge fan", but he does hold a place in my musical heart. Why would Jimi Hendrix cover him???
I've been a Dylan fan for too many years to even remember how long it's been. This is an amazing cover of an amazing song. Wonderful live performance. The more I hear Jack White the more mesmerized I am by his genius.
@Varangian1915 You have problems. They obviously involve sex. You know nothing about the singer's penis or whether his sister (ACTUALLY HIS WIFE) has sex with men for money. Do you have sex with girls? Would you like it they gave you money? Maybe you're not good enough, too limp. I assure you, they don't eat shit. Why don't you try saying what's really on your mind instead of coming across like some angry juvenile delinquent with a meth-rotted brain? No one can BE DYLAN, obviously. Calm down!
dylans verson is better for sure but thats not the point hedoes it in his style and thats great someone is trying to keep the fire blazing good for him,, im jealous!
it's just an opinion, dude. but here, they have tried to pretty much just play it the way bobby played it on the 75 tour, and the rolling thunder reue does that version better.
Theres no point in covering it at all by that logic then, the original does what it's supposed to, that's why it's made. I guess you have not heard of paying homage to someone.
Congratulations! Can't beleive he's not only making great music but stil touring and playing at his age. Sorry, he didn't play it. Although, i'm sure it didn't take away from the experience.
No, it was brilliant. What can you say about a Dylan show. There are none like it. Also there is no more diverse crowd. There are a few videos posted of the gig. In the O2 in Dublin (Ireland). I was there on the 5th but he played the 6th also.
Covering Bob Dylan is a sign of great taste + this song is not the most famous nor the easiest. Good version, by the way!
...But, though I enjoy the White Stripes, to me no one will be as good as Bob Dylan's Isis during the "Rolling Thunder Revue" (1975).

@seans10 good idea, i never thought of it. I always am sitting there wondering why they don't like the songs I pick, but i haven't tried Isis.

The White Stripes has done what few have done before them and succeeded - they've covered Bob Dylan songs.

If you don't like it, go listen to something else.

I can't decide if he butchered it or simply did a really good version of his own. Either way, I like both versions.

I love the White Stripes, but this doesn't really capture how amazing this song is...Dylan's delivery can't be emulated.

Why you would even compare a Blues-Punk band to Dylans thin, wild mercury sound is beyond me. You clearly don't understand how covers work.
