I don't take sides on either tuner or american muscle, for the fact that I am chinese and own a 1970 442, love american muscle, and love V8s, but I also love tuners, considering how much power they are pulling out of an engine that is half the size of a v8.

On the end of tuners, a stock GTR can definately beat a stock v8, consider the fact that,

it is an I6 twin turbo car. If you hate either Muscle or Tuners, you should gather more

Probably not a Vette but lets say a stock V8 camaro vs a Stock R34 than it would be a pretty good challenge, Corvettes are consider a top of the line performance cars. I think I was more looking towards the carburated V8 with less technology, not like the Newer fuel injected V8s like the LT or LS motors with TPI.

Plus, IMO American Muscle are really made for pure straight aways, whether people believe it r not, vette's handling freaken sucks big time! In a straight way drag, its pretty much whoever has a bigger motor wins, to put it plainly, although I have seen many SB beat BB, mainly because of the weight differences. I think the only scene in Tuner Ilike is the Drift scene, because it shows skillz and not just how fast and how much power your car has

size of the engine doesnt matter that much.... and the new c6 z06 handles way better than what you think and im sure the new zr1 will probably be better, track course the z06 keeps right up with all the exotic imports...and most of them is how many hundreds of thousands of dollars...

MY mate owns a SLR Torana.. and it is very nice :P however my 300ZX (V6) has a very nice sound to it also...
